Glangevlin Recovers From the War

[Malichy]

The wind whipped through the embrasure as the High King made his way up to the battlements on the walls of Ardvagh. Malichy could not help but think how things might have been if the alliance of the Rose had but taken a different path. But the path had been chosen and Malichy and Glangevlin had followed it's purple bretheren along it. 

 

He recalled that day not so long ago when GeorgeClooney of North American Confederacy had met with Emmad. The dapper countenance and well coifed hair of the NAC leader made the usually debonair Emmad look much like Danny Devito as they talked over coffee.
 

 

Some nations out of Westeros had attacked and they were members of Seven Kingdoms. He needed help and the nations of UPN were obligated. 

 

Concerns were raised. Military readiness was already high as some Dioists had started hostilities with the nation of Vanguard some time earlier. And since then the nations of the Rose and some of their allies had commenced hostilities. It now seemed as if the UPN was to be drawn into the fray as well. 

 

High King Malichy paused on the steps as he remembered the initial assault on the combined armies of two nations of The Knights Radiant. He could swear as he looked to the west towards the forces of the Killer State of Howell descending on their mutual enemy, he could almost hear Cliché Evil Tyrant Metro saying, "I'm coming for u bby!" 

 

Glangevlin's forces met the Dwarves of Azaghul's Middle earth along with the forces of JannyJohn's Asheville somewhere on Roshar, let's say somewhere in Alethkar. (Talk about mixed storylines!) Combined with the forces of Howell they were able to beat them back. 

 

The next expected phase was yet to come. And come it did. 

 

Ivan the Red and The Just Flame of the Flawed (I'd argue about how you can be 'just' if you are 'flawed' but we have never gotten there) seemed to see the opportunity for some profit by counter attacking. Thus our High King withdrew as he watched his inferior forces lose ground daily. Back to Ardvagh it was to hole up and hold out for the next round. 

 

Yet upon reaching his own lands at Bursan, he found that the pirate Dan77 had taken advantage of the situation and raided not only all his coastal cities but plundered inland like a Viking. Malichy was livid for he knows Vikings and Dan77 was a Pirate not a Viking! Clearly, the Viking union needs to take this up with Arrgh. Regardless, our story continues... 

 

Having reached his capital Ardvagh, High King Malichy found himself under siege by both his corporate aggressors as well as his TKR targets until the raven (at least those damned Maester's the Seven Kingdoms keep foisting on us are good for something!) arrived that announced the white peace. 

 

As he reached the battlements, the sleet from the coming storm pelted his face. The stench of the pyres of dead burning withing the city filled his nostrils. The objective had been achieved. At great cost. 

 

The opposing armies were withdrawing into the forest in the distance as he gazed out from the battlements. Four chargers with men in full armor stood looking toward the city; Azaghul, Jannyjohn, Ivan the Red, and that annoyingly named Flame of the Flawed....let's just call him Chaunce from here on out, yes? 

 

Malichy looked out upon the four leaders and raised his sword in salute to their honor and valor in this war. After a moment, all four responded in kind. They then withdrew into the wood with their forces. 

 

Malichy reflected yet again on the cost of the war as he toured the battlements with the never-ending stench of death in his nostrils. Objectives had been achieved but at what cost? Following the line of the Purple Nations had proved fruitful for Glangevlin thus far. This was not a deviation. But there must be more of a reward in the future for such sacrifice. 

 

As he descended back into the castle a messenger met him and presented an origami serpent he said had been sent by the opposing leaders before they withdrew.

 

          

 

Malichy gazed quizzically at the serpent and then unfolded it. It had writing on the inside. 

 

          

 

High King Malichy pondered the meaning of the message as he descended to his waiting people.

It was actually "think ur my target but tired so idk" but other than that p good.

Well, perhaps our realization of that may well be Glangevlin's salvation. War isn't usually the most profitable move. Other directions shall be explored.
