  1. This guys is an artist. Never break character sir.
  2. "It makes no difference what men think of war, said the judge. War endures. As well ask men what they think of stone. War was always here. Before man was, war waited for him. The ultimate trade awaiting its ultimate practitioner. That is the way it was and will be. That way and not some other way." - Cormac McCarthy
  3. Well, I guess that was a terrible time to sell my entire warchest to buy a city...or was it? looks like (sometime soon) I'll be getting all of the bullets i can hold.
  4. Well hello there. Marginal Micro Co-Leader Raoul Duke here. Now, I’m no expert on strategery and what-not. I just log in for that sweet 300K once per day and I give Felandia or The Weyland-Yutani Corporation most of my income in exchange for bullets (all you need is bullets right? Those seem to be important.) So I was wondering if everyone had the “Declare war” button like I do? (I seldom touch the thing as it makes my infrastructure go away.) I’m guessing that most people don’t as I constantly see nation leaders shaming other nation leaders for playing it safe and doing nothing in the game except buying bullets and collecting bonuses like I do. Surely if these no Declare War button having- nation leaders were equipped with the Declare War button like I am, they could just declare war whenever they felt like it. Wouldn’t that be something? Maybe if they were in an alliance (like a few of us are), they could talk to their buddies and maybe those buddies might find they had a Declare War button as well. Chaos might ensue! I guess we will either have to talk to Alex and see if we can get these bugs corrected or maybe the people who want conflict, don’t really want to conflict, they just like talking about conflict (I like talking about conflict too, specifically the first Barbary war from 1801 to 1805. Good times!). In the meantime, can someone tell me if I need 4 nuclear power plants or 5 to support 1800 infra?
  5. This announcement made me smile...for various reasons.
  6. I've seen these suggestions before and they always get batted away or dismissed but I thought I would take a swing at it. Baseball is terrible for the away team and it always has been. This could easily be fixed with a standard away team fee, based on the quality of your team. The standard fee doesn't have to be high but even 2-3,000 for a 100 score team would generate tremendous player engagement on the away side, which would then generate even more engagement on the home side. The response I have seen before was essentially: Baseball isn't supposed to be fun, it's just something to do between turns while waiting on war. Well, I don't see the logic in making part of the game frustrating and unrewarding. l I just read the other posts and the response by Alex. It appears he is satisfied with his setup and this post is pointless.
  7. Welcome to Orbis...I don't know how i became an official greeter..it's probably due to my advancing years and my propensity for pointless (but good natured) conversation. Enjoy the show.
  8. Alex, I'm a bit of a Luddite and i've been trying to make my display name match my in-game leader name for about a year and a half now and keep myself from getting kicked out of here. Could you detail the steps to do this as i'm apparently mildly retarded. Ok, quick followup. I fixed it. It helps to try.
  9. Sounds suspect but if you can't trust Fraggle...
  10. Do you have ten cities? (This is negotiable if you’re motivated) Do you log in everyday? Do you want more cities and an adequate war chest? Do you know what a war chest is? Do you mind taking an occasional nuke in defense of your fellow alliance members? Do you want to usher in a complete and final apocalypse upon Orbis (eventually…like way..way..way. far from now. We haven’t picked a date. Maybe I shouldn’t have mentioned this part.) If you answered yes to at least 1 one of those questions listed above then you may have what it takes to become one of The Horsemen. Don’t be intimidated. We know you are either new or currently some kind of knight/pirate/god/or… knight but consider what it might be like to be a Horseman. We will help you grow. You pay no taxes. (That’s right, keep your own money. You can play keno all day.) You might be wondering how we can simultaneously fund cities while raking in zero taxes. Well Some folks call it alchemy but we prefer to call it: “Hey, Horseman X needs a city, let’s all donate what we can afford.” We have guides available but you don’t have to follow them. If you want 9 coal mines and 7 nuclear power plants per city…go right ahead. It’s your nation. You make the call. (The above city configuration is not recommended.) You can be a soldier in some guy’s army or you can be one of The Horsemen.
  11. In the words of Hunter S. Thompson: "Buy the ticket. Take the ride." Or perhaps Kurt Vonnegut is more appropriate: "Here we are, trapped in the amber of the moment. There is no why"
  12. Well, now you know. Also You now know to never ask the forums a sincere and uninformed question. All posts must be statements, dripping with sarcasm and hate....bonus points if you quote someone else's sarcastic response and then add your own brand of acid to the mix. It helps if you hate pixels. Be sure to mention this point several times. Shields up all of the time son!
  13. Well finally, a little piece of Orbisian history for The Horsemen. Or is it just Horsemen without the "The"? I named the alliance and even I don't know.
  14. I once used 60 spies to blow up 1 ship. The operation cost a million or so. I was underwhelmed. Lesson learned Fairly useful for planes though...
  15. In the past we mostly stored our bank in Arrgh's hidden bank. It's not convenient but it is safe...cuts down on frivolous nation building.
  16. As a Horseman (home of the dishonorable slot thieves) I would just like to express my complete appreciation for being allowed to sometimes fight in this war. Sorry about those couple of times we beiged those people we weren't supposed to but without us occasionally pre-beiging an opponent, we would have to wait until Friday (instead of Thursday) to reach 1 trillion in total damages. It's like my dearly departed Dad used to say: "Son, sometimes you gotta beige a Bastard before they rip you limb from limb and your Mother is a whore." That may have been my cousin that said that but irregardless, the advice is sound. As for peace, well i'm sure it will happen at some point and when it does i look forward to being blindsided by a vengeful blitz within 3 to 6 months.
  17. Just an honor to be nominated. Wait.
  18. Now that the stats are back up, I will resume pointless yet entertaining bombing.
  19. Alright man....and all for 50 million..the guy has to be relatively new...what was he trying to do?....Max out his baseball team?
  20. I haven't been around for as long as a lot of these guys and gals have but you can talk directly to the creator of this game about things like this. It's one of the interesting things about this game. Hate this kind of nonsense has happened to you.
  21. Why do we want to drive anyone out of the game? I like Orbis. Except for the occasional nuclear detonation and resulting fallout in my cities, It's a great place to raise a fake dead family of mutants and concern myself with bauxite prices on the open market. Sure From time to time a complete stranger will call you an idiot or a moron and tell you that you don't understand how to play. That's par for the course when interacting with mass groups over the internet as mass groups over the internet are just a representation of humanity as a whole without the nagging problem of possible physical repercussions. I have no part in the negotiations as I'm just an unelected semi-tyrannical-despot- leader of a know-nothing micro but it seems to me that wars in this game were/are supposed to be fun/challenging for both sides and this one has been to a great degree. I have no real point but the cursor was blinking and i've been chasing that thing all of my life.
  22. It says something about the quality of the content when all of the savages are waiting quietly. I have no idea how those stats are generated and compiled with all the little chart thingamabobbers and squiggly lines but I too appreciate them. I at first speculated it was accomplished through some kind of blood rite (ritual) but my more computer literate colleagues have informed that computers and "the internet" are involved.
  23. I had a nuke once...shot it into something called a "Vital defense system"..... Weirdest thing I ever saw....
