The Russian government wants to create some kind of Eurasian Empire, that is obvious. But I don't think they are going to succeed. Russia's economy and society are suffering and all of their allies (read colonies) are poor and irrevelant. I think the right question should be: "Will Putin prevent Russia from sliding into a deep recession?"
