Thoughts on Guardian's fall from grace.

Note: This post is written from my perspective. It is clearly an opinion. If you don't like what I have to say, then piss off.

Speaking as a member of Guardian from 2010 to 2014, a former Guardian Minister of War, Triumvir, and briefly President... And an old rival from the moon.

This war makes me think a lot of things. For one, this is part of the reason I'm even here today. I knew when I created my nation that I wanted to see, or cause, Guardian to get rolled. The reason why is because I have known all along what many in P&W are just now starting to figure out. The Guardian we see before us today is not the Guardian that many have come to respect. It hasn't been for a long time. The best Guardian was the one we saw early on in Project Terra. That was when we each had a role to play and played it well, before everyone got the idea in their head that they are the special ones who deserve to rule simply on the basis of who they are. The elimination of the Meritocracy, and of the Triumvirate, was the dying breath of the concept of rule by ability, rather than popularity in Guardian.

The re-introduction of democratic elections for a single leadership position, whether they called it the Vanguard or the President, did not guarantee stronger leadership. On the contrary, it led to a series of poor leadership decisions, ultimately culminating in the epic failure we see before us today. Starting with the election of Prefontaine immediately following the return of Project Terra under a new admin, Guardian has been steadily declining. He alienated some of our closest allies, allowed the internal standards of the alliance to disintegrate into nothing, and then ultimately left the alliance in worse shape than before. Next they elected Sasha, who failed to defend the interests of Guardian by allowing a known act of war to go unpunished. He, too, left his position having accomplished absolutely nothing of note. That is when they elected Shellhound the first time, who declared a war that they could not win, and then promptly resigned. Some time later it was Brit, who was wise enough to negotiate with us the formation of a new Triumvirate in exchange for the dissolution of the High Council. This worked for a while, but for reasons I do not entirely remember, we switched back to a single elected leader once again. This is when they elected Keegoz, who passed up an experienced and proven MoW in exchange for an unproven, inexperienced member who simply said all the things he wanted to hear. The end result was a cheating scandal, and ultimately Keegoz' resignation. In the midst of the chaos, despite having secured election to the Presidency for myself, I chose instead to leave the game. It just was not fun anymore. The community was a shell of its former self because the key players had forgotten what had made us great in the first place. Frankly, I never wanted to be "The One Guy Commanding From Up High" anyways. I wanted a strong alliance with capable individuals around me, and that includes sharing power if that is what is best for the alliance.

"But what about Lunarwars? Wasn't Guardian great then?"

Guardian was high in the rankings in Lunarwars for sure. Were they great? I think the failed wars they were engaged in, the way I was able to bully them, speaks for itself. Guardian would not even defend its own members in those days when we cashed in on a bounty. The government of my alliance, myself and my ministers, actively attacked him. The response by Guardian was to kick the member out. We couldn't get them to declare on us if we tried. It wasn't until we attacked their allies directly in a war that they declared on us, and even then they were the ones who finished the war under heavy surrender terms. Guardian never knew greatness until I showed them the way, and although they may have tried to learn from me, they failed to do so competently. The result is what you see. They made an attempt to secure their dominance as I had done in the past, and as I would have done for them, but they lacked the ability to actually pull it off.

My last point to finish this off. I find it amusing how their closest ally, Seven Kingdoms, was the one ally I was least fond of from the beginning. I see current events as a vindication of my position from the start. I took a 20-man group from LE into PT and guided them through building something worthy of respect. The remains survived for some time, especially their reputation, but sure enough they inevitably gave up on actually building an alliance and replaced it with simply surviving off the strength of their nations - And they don't seem to have even realized it. Today those chickens have finally come home to roost.

You seem to have skipped the part where you became their leader, dumped their bank, and quit the game. Also, when you returned, you requested the protection from the one ally you were least fond of. Your version of history is an interesting one, I'll give you that.

"The best Guardian was the one we saw early on in Project Terra." Actually, the best Guardian was after you stepped down and we reformed under Prefontaine. Oddly enough it was after we got rid of the toxicity of people like you and longbowe that things began to get better. But I'm sure that's all mere coincidence. The fact that Prefontaine was leading also means I'm clearly wrong, and that couldn't have been the cause. Because Prefontaine is literally the worst, and is the reason why you've never been able to succeed, correct? But, you wouldn't know about that period of Guardian, and had you been around to experience it, it's doubtful that period would have existed. BoC, learn from our history. Kadin might not be bad now, but he will make your alliance more toxic than Chernobyl as soon as he doesn't get what he wants.

That's because it never happened. Jodo was mistaken when he told people it was me.

tbf, my decision to resign had very little to do with my MoW. :P

You are just still unhappy I didn't choose you. The internal politics in Guardian btw everyone is very intense.

I was merely using that example to illustrate the sort of judgement you showed when you held the position. Obviously it had nothing to do with your resignation.

Sorry for trying to blood new talent

should they ask Justice department and Alpha back to their little(nos.) elite(guality) teams?

Can you post this again in English?

shouldn't they ask Justice department and alpha back to their former alliance to change this what you called "miserable" moment???

In honesty most alliances that have achieved high standards of excellence eventually plateau then decline, as founders get lazy and the alliance gets filled with bandwagoners more interested in being part of a great alliance than actually building a great alliance.

If Guardian has declined, as you've said, it is "apparently with no surprise to any happy flower".

Next post that letter you wrote to Katie. I seem to have misplaced my copy.

Maybe you should focus on game stuff instead of irrelevant crap from four years ago that you weren't even around for. I know it's hard to do when your pixels are burning, but still.

Kadin, I see you haven't changed. Still slandering everyone and speaking highly of yourself. You were one of the causes of the constant drama that befell Guardian. You asked me to join you as a triumvir with the expectation that I would be some kind of yes man and generally let you do as you please. Unfortunately for you, I'm not that kind of person. Oh and speaking of leadership, remember that time when you suggested that the triumvirate should work unilaterally? Do you also remember the time when you immediately resigned from Guardian after losing an election? Do you remember the time where you left me to negotiate political treaties while you barked orders at me in a query instead of actively taking part, then had the gall to rip me apart because I didn't do what you wanted me to? The time where you blackmailed your fellow triumvirs because you didn't want Longbowe (who was more than adequate for the role) to replace you after you told us you were resigning, which resulted in us choosing someone who didn't even want the position and did absolutely nothing as a triumvir. Oh those were the days. Yes you were truly fantastic, Kadin.

You backed down from GOONS, who we ended up having to fight anyways because their leader had a short fuse. I knew that we were going to end up fighting them regardless, so I wanted us to stand up for ourselves instead. The fact that you still think backing down was the right call to make despite all the evidence to the contrary is pretty telling. I thought you would have learned from that experience. Then again, if you had learned anything from PT at all, you probably wouldn't be where you are now. :P

By the way, if you think rewarding Longbowe with a Triumvir seat after the way he acted as a member of the alliance was also the right call, then I don't know what to tell you. Keeping Longbowe out of the Triumvirate was a great decision, and I would do it 10 times out of 10.

Never said I made the right decision, but you refused to join us in the negotiations and instead spent the entire time chatting to Katie in a query. I had other things I needed to do and i just wanted to get it over with quickly. I should also point out that I'm not a member of Guardian.

The way he acted as a member wasn't any worse than the way you were acting as a Triumvir. It was a terrible decision on your part to block us from choosing your replacement just because you didn't like him. It was 2 votes to your 1 to elect Longbowe as your replacement. We could have easily removed him if it didn't work out.

If you're arguing that it was a mistake to trust your judgement, and that I should have been there myself to make sure the right decision got made, then I guess I would have to agree. I wasn't aware at the time that you felt i expected you to be a yes man and that you were willing to make the wrong decision in order to get back at me. Lesson learned.

When you say I expected to "generally do as I please," what you actually mean is I was the member of the Triumvirate who was pushing for stronger internal standards. I was the one, between the three of us, who made the decisions that kept the alliance from sucking. In other words, I literally ran circles around you as a member of the Triumvirate and you didn't even know well enough to realize it.

Truth be told, I was just fortunate enough to have a great recruiting team and ministers who could be trusted to get things done (for the most part). It's too bad you were so bitter towards me for no good reason, because that alliance could've been a lot of fun for you if you weren't.
