CRIME AND JUSTICE

A CITY AT WAR

Alright guys, I'm going to be testing a game of my own design with you all, something I've been slowly putting together during lulls at work. The game might seem a little complicated at first, but I assure you it's all very simple.

You can read the full rules right here. It seems like a lot, but I promise that it's a very easy read.

The game is called Crime and Justice, and it's basically a very involved version of cops and robbers, where the only goal in the game is to be the guy with the most money at the end. No one is safe from getting stabbed in the back, no one is secure.

You have two "sides", The Law and The Underground. The Law consists of The Police, The Detective, The Bounty Hunter, and The Judge. Their goal is to take down The Underworld, which consists of The Kingpin, The Mobsters, and The Hit Man. In the middle, the citizens, business owners, and anyone else you could imagine.

The game is built to have as little restrictions as possible as the how you play your character. For instance, The Detective can work his hardest to bring down The Undeworld--or he can give in to the bribes and work his hardest to pin false crimes on other people. You are free to play as you see fit, and you will suffer the consequences for it.

This first "Round" will be a shortened version--probably only about five to ten pages, depending. I need to work out some balance issues, but I wont' know how to fix those until I've tried the game at least once. If you're interested, send me a private message with the following:

Name:
Age:
Hair Color:
Eye Color:
Clothes Color: (Just one color, it's for game purposes)
Height: (Nothing exact, just "Tall, Medium, or Short")
Weight: (Nothing exact, just "Skinny, Average, or Fat")
Desired Role:

After I've received a few, I'll post the characters with all of the information except for their Role.

If you have ANY questions or concerns, please let me know below, and I'll answer them as quickly as possible.

"They're turning kids into slaves just to make cheaper sneakers.

But what's the real cost? ‘Cause the sneakers don't seem that much cheaper.

Why are we still paying so much for sneakers when you got them made by little slave kids?

What are your overheads?"

We're starting to fill up faster than I expected. That's a good sign. :D

This looks interesting. I assume this is some sort of offshoot from the Mafia game?

In the idea of roles, yes, but in terms of gameplay, definitely not. Unlike Mafia, there are no set teams. Every man is out there to gain the most money by the end. Any working together is usually going to be for some benefit. Also, you cannot die (technically), because you can get an infinite amount of new characters (technically).

What he said. It's definitely inspired by Mafia, and it's got it's similarities, but the major difference between the two is that the main goal of the game isn't to win by rooting out all the criminals--since anyone can technically be one and there is an unlimited number of chances for players to become one--but by playing everyone else so well that you end up on top with the most money.

Alright guys, as soon as we get a Police Officer we'll go ahead and kick the game off. This thread will serve as the permanent OOC. I'll go ahead and start us with two NPC businesses and a few NPC civilians as well, just so there are plenty of options for your "activities".

I'll put this up in the main message too, but your characters all start with $1000 dollars to spend on your character's skills before the first day starts. If you'd like to start your business before the game starts, feel free!

QUICK UPDATE

Since I just realized that not having a daily income puts you at a serious disadvantage, the Bounty Hunter and Hitman will now make 200 dollars daily, plus whatever they get on bounties, and citizens will have a $100 daily income, plus whatever schenangigans they get up to.

Sorry about the lack of an update last night guys, I ended up spending the night dealing with a load of stupid shit. Day three will be starting here in a few, and you'll have a bit of extra time to get things done. Probably update again 2am Tuesday Morning so you can all get stuff in.

I know you guys are just RP'ing a lack of police, but due to nobody signed up we have to assume that the police are there, but aren't doing a good job to keep the town secure. Based on the news updates we know that there are police, but they are all presumably defunct NPC's.
