  5. War on Terror: A Review Written by Eliza Warner Director of International Institute of Strategic Studies The War on Terror (WoT), is a metaphor of war referring to the international military campaign that started after the Karachi attacks on the United States. U.S. President Lee Young-suk first used the term "War on Terror" on Seoul Conference on International Security. The Lee administration and the media have since used the term to argue a global military, political, legal, and conceptual struggle against both terrorist organizations and against the regimes accused of supporting them. It is originally used with a particular focus on countries associated with Islamic terrorist organizations and like-minded organizations. The United States has already launched drone attacks upon Anshar Al-Sharia camps and bases in Bosnia and Pakistan. The attacks were condemned by the Extremists organizations as mentioned above and they issued a Jihad fatwa against the United States. The fatwa has led many Islamists organization to launched more attacks upon Karachi. Even, the CIA estimated that they’re planning to attack the capital of the United States. In the recent days, the President ordered ground attack upon Pakistan, Afghanistan, Mali, Nigeria and Southeast Asia. Those places were predicted for being bases of terrorists. The Lee Young-suk Administration defined the following objectives in the War on Terror: 1. Defeat terrorists such as Ahmed Abu Khattala, Ayman Al-Zawahiri, Abu Bakr Al-Baghdadi and demolish their organizations 2. Identify, locate and demolish terrorists along with their organizations 3. Deny sponsorship, support and sanctuary to terrorists 1. End the state sponsorship of terrorism 2. Establish and maintain an international standard of accountability concerning combating terrorism 3. Strengthen and sustain the international effort to combat terrorism 4. Work with willing and able states 5. Enable weak states 6. Persuade reluctant states 7. Compel unwilling states 8. Interdict and disorder Material support for terrorists 9. Abolish terrorist sanctuaries and havens 4. Diminish the underlying conditions that terrorists seek to exploit 1. Partner with the international community to strengthen weak states and prevent (re)emergence of terrorism 2. Win the war of ideals 5. Defend U.S. citizens and interests at home and abroad 1. Integrate the National Strategy for Homeland Security 2. Attain domain awareness 3. Enhance measures to ensure the integrity, reliability, and availability of critical, physical, and information-based infrastructures at home and abroad 4. 6. We have a lot of experiences with this kind of leadership. Promoting that their citizens are very impoverished with Education, Public Health and Food. But, in the other side "this kind of leader" is only promoting the "good side" of his country. In the fact, they are opressed their people by silent the Press and limiting Freedom of Speech. People cannot speak and giving opinion freely. And the people are feared of the Government for being prosecuted or forced into trial. We also saw that there is no "Freedom of Religion and Faith" in Amenria. Because, the Government forced its citizen to practice Sunni Islam law on their life. While all of us know that there are many religions in this world that practiced by human. Even, there are branches on Islam such as Shia, Wahabbi, and Ahmadiyya. If you are a servant of god, why don't you spend your time to pray in Mosque or becoming an Ulama or a Missionary? We believe that Emperor Cheonsa is using religion as a tool for propaganda, abuse of power, creating cult of personality, and mass doctrination. 19. NASA Announces the End of Mars "Phoenix" Exploration Mission The Phoenix Mission operated longer than its prime mission. The Phoenix had been running on bonus time since the successful end of its primary mission. The spacecraft went into safe mode due to power constraints based on the insufficient amount of sunlight reaching the lander, as expected at this time of year. It was decided then to shut down the four heaters that keep the equipment warm, and upon bringing the spacecraft back from safe mode, commands were sent to turn off two of the heaters rather than only one as was originally planned for the first step. The heaters involved provide heat to the robotic arm, TEGA instrument and a pyrotechnic unit on the lander that were unused since landing, so these three instruments were also shut down. Phoenix Mission Control reported the loss of contact with the Phoenix lander; the last signal was received. Immediately prior, Phoenix sent its final message: "Triumph" in binary code. The demise of the craft occurred as a result of a dust storm that reduced power generation even further. While the spacecraft's work ended, the analysis of data from the instruments was in its earliest stages. “The successful of this mission is not only proud to all Asians but as well to all mankind in this world.†- Director of Mars Exploration Mission, Yui Tamada Results of Mars “Phoenix†Exploration Mission Landscape Nearly all the rocks near Phoenix are small. For about as far as the camera can see, the land is flat, but shaped into polygons between 2–3 meters in diameter and bounded by troughs that are 20 cm to 50 cm deep. These shapes are due to ice in the soil expanding and contracting due to major temperature changes. The microscope showed that the soil on top of the polygons is composed of flat particles (probably a type of clay) and rounded particles. Also, unlike other places, the site has no ripples or dunes. Ice is present a few inches below the surface in the middle of the polygons, and along its edges, the ice is at least 8 inches deep. When the ice is exposed to the Martian atmosphere it slowly sublimates. Some dust devils were observed. Weather Snow was observed to fall from cirrus clouds. The clouds formed at a level in the atmosphere that was around −65 °C, so the clouds would have to be composed of water-ice, rather than carbon dioxide-ice (dry ice) because, at the low pressure of the Martian atmosphere, the temperature for forming carbon dioxide ice is much lower—less than −120 °C. Wind speeds ranged from 11 to 58 km per hour. The usual average speed was 36 km per hour. These speeds seem high, but the atmosphere of Mars is very thin—less than 1% of the Earth's—and so did not exert much force on the spacecraft. The highest temperature measured during the mission was −19.6 °C, while the coldest was −97.7 °C. Climate Cycles Interpretation of the data transmitted from the craft was published. As per the peer reviewed data the presence of water ice has been confirmed and that the site had a wetter and warmer climate in the recent past. Finding calcium carbonate in the Martian soil leads scientists to believe that the site had been wet or damp in the geological past. During seasonal or longer period diurnal cycles water may have been present as thin films. The tilt or obliquity of Mars changes far more than the Earth; hence times of higher humidity are probable. The data also confirms the presence of the chemical Perchlorate. Perchlorate makes up a few tenths of a percent of the soil samples. Perchlorate is used as food by some bacteria on Earth. Another paper claims that the previously detected snow could lead to a buildup of water ice. The reports leaves the question of presence of organic compounds open ended since heating the samples containing Perchlorate would have broken down the organic material. Surface chemistry Results published after the mission ended reported that chloride, bicarbonate, magnesium, sodium potassium, calcium, and possibly sulfate were detected in the samples. The pH was narrowed down to 7.7 ±0.5. Perchlorate (ClO4), a strong oxidizer at elevated temperatures, was detected. This was a significant discovery as Perchlorate has the potential of being used for rocket fuel and as a source of oxygen. Under certain conditions Perchlorate can inhibit life; however some microorganisms obtain energy from the substance (by anaerobic reduction). The chemical when mixed with water can greatly lower freezing point of water, in a manner similar to how salt is applied to roads to melt ice. So, Perchlorate may be allowing small amounts of liquid water to form on the surface of Mars today. Gullies, which are common in certain areas of Mars, may have formed from Perchlorate melting ice and causing water to erode soil on steep slopes. Press Conference at NASA Headquarter, Seoul Metropolitan "Phoenix has given us some surprises, and I'm confident we will be pulling more gems from this trove of data for years to come," said Phoenix Principal Investigator Peter Smith of the Seoul National University. "Phoenix provided an important step to spur the hope that we can show Mars was once habitable and possibly supported life. Phoenix was supported by orbiting NASA spacecraft providing communications relay while producing their own fascinating science. With the upcoming launch of the Mars Science Laboratory, the Mars Program never sleeps," said Director of Mars Exploration Program, Yui Tamada Images Taken by Phoenix at Mars Reported Directly from NASA Headquarter by Associated Press News 10 Chungmuro Street, Jongno-gu Seoul Metropolitan Federal City 30448
  20. Family of one of the victims of Karachi Attack on Military Funeral at Seodaemun Cemetery If there is any good news for United States after the horrific violence in Karachi, it’s that terrorists generally aren’t able to destroy the spirit of the United States, the country where they strike. People can soon get back to doing daily-life after attacks like this one. The purely consequences of recent terrorism have been limited and temporary. The Karachi City comptroller put the immediate damage at US$ 5 million in Karachi, including the destruction of buildings, infrastructure and property and the costs of medical care. The income that those killed in the attack would have brought to the city in the remainder of their careers, had they survived, totaled another $8.7 million. Damaged US Federal Representative Office at Karachi The attacks were also costly for specific sectors of the economy. The unexpected claims on insurance companies were largely absorbed by reinsurance firms, such as Hanwha Insurances, which put the total cost to the industry approximately US$10 million. Following the attacks, insurers generally stopped offering policies that covered losses due to terrorism, and these days, the costs of insuring against terrorism are subsidized by the federal government. In the long term, the President Lee administration’s responses to the attacks — increased security at home and the invasions of Bosnia and Pakistan — were far costlier in an economic sense than the attacks themselves. US Secretary of Homeland Security, Hwang Kyo-ahn (left) attended funeral services of Karachi Attack victims On a press release at the funeral of Karachi Attack victims which attended by hundreds of people from various backgrounds the President stated that the US Government has ordered a limited attack upon terrorists on Bosnia and Pakistan, it is the first time that US Force engaged for a war since the unification. The AP News has able to quoted some words stated by the President. A US Air Force drone attacking Terrorist on Pakistan For we know that our patchwork heritage is a strength, not a weakness. We are a nation of Christians and Muslims, Jews and Hindus - and non-believers. We are shaped by every language and culture, drawn from every end of this Earth; and because we have tasted the bitter swill of segregation, and emerged from that dark chapter stronger and more united, we cannot help but believe that the old hatreds shall someday pass; that the lines of tribe shall soon dissolve; that as the world grows smaller, our common humanity shall reveal itself; and that United States of Asia must play its role in ushering in a new era of peace. To the Muslim world, we seek a new way forward, based on mutual interest and mutual respect. To those leaders around the globe who seek to sow conflict, or blame their citizens based on race or ethnics know that your people will judge you on what you can build, not what you destroy. To those who cling to power through corruption and deceit and the silencing of dissent, know that you are on the wrong side of history; but that we will extend a hand if you are willing to unclench your fist. - President Lee Reported by Associated Press News 10 Chungmuro Street, Jongno-gu Seoul Metropolitan Federal City 30448
  21. Statement from the US Secretary of State The United States will try to participate in tackling the problem of human trafficking and smuggling because it has been one of the global issues that need to be addressed wisely without sacrificing justice and human rights. The United States government will always be in the forefront to condemning and protesting the racialist policy made by the government of Arloskva. The government must not forcibly evict people who have started to live happily at their homes. However, the Arloskvan Government has committed crime against humanity. Arloskvan Government has made their people crossing the ocean and wandering without thinking the sense of justice. They are very risk for being trafficked and smuggled. In other words, the Government of Arloskva has supported human trafficking and smuggling. -Masaru Kanagawa
