  1. In my opinion, alliance taxes are used as a form of compensation for services offered (and fund those services entirely) One of the biggest 'services' alliances provide to their members is protection, plain and simple. I've sunk millions of dollars into keeping my alliance's nations floating during raids and into rebuilding funds, etc. All of it's been out of my pocket pretty much because we only recently implemented taxes and they were only at 3/2% (income/resource), and they're even temporarily suspended right now to keep beiged nations from draining alliance bank while dealing with another raider causing issues. And you know what? Most of that effort has been put towards inactives. I want my alliance protecting all of it's members, inactive or not, so that members know that if something comes up irl they can trust us to keep them safe. For that, it would still be best that we had taxes - and we should have the option to use them. I don't see any benefit to this. If someone was going to play the game for a day or two and then suddenly stop, it's not the AA's fault and there's likely little they could have done
  2. Game reports says it's only for users breaking the rules. Couldn't find a place specifically about this, maybe Player Support Center > Tech Support
  3. Twice today, PNW has redirected me to some weight loss site - most likely at the fault of one of the advertisers. It's not adware, I ran MWB/MS Defender and my alliance mates have also had issues with the exact same thing. Can we please get this stopped? I don't use adblock with pnw because I want to support the game, but that's just ridiculous
  4. also I like how my entirely unrelated thread somehow became the FSA hate thread of the day
  5. I just went with Pax Rahl. Nothing mentioned in the books but I feel like it's a relatively appropriate name for a Rahl, kind of suiting.
  6. Why doesn't the Recycling Center just offer a static price reduction on things that require Steel & Aluminum? For example, if it was set at 5%, and you built a subway in a city with one recycling center, that subway would cost 23.75 alum and 47.5 steel. With military units, it would be slightly trickier (I would say that formulaically, sheepy should prioritize cities with recycling centers from highest-lowest, and then see which of those cities have open unit support slots in order), but doable without a ton of issue. It isn't a direct representation of how recycling works but it does offer a fairly logical solution, and make recycling centers one of the more useful improvements. If you wanted a real-world explanation on it, the buildings or units could just be partially made out of recycled materials. Alternatively, you could make it so that only when you lost objects that require steel or aluminum would you get a bit of a refund, but that's harder and also just not that useful. Every time you destroyed a building or lost a unit that used steel or alum, you could get like 5-10% of it's steel/alum value back. This actually also has some 'realism' issues because it raises the question on how the heck you'd get the aluminum back from your plane when it was flying over another country, or tanks in a battle etc. You could obviously just leave out those specific things, but that again makes it more useless a change.
  7. We're not really saying you're involved, just saying that he's attacked many alliances (including yours), and deserves to get rolled because of it
  8. Yeah, we're just kind of sitting around trying to figure out how we can damage him some more now. None of us has the air force to knock his out and air strike him, and most (if not all) of us are sitting at 5 successful GAs in a row, so we can't do another without beiging. Right now I'm using spy ops
  9. (yes, this is the same Apache PMC from this: http://politicsandwar.com/forums/index.php?/topic/4052-condemnation-of-the-actions-taken-by-michael-steck-of-apache-pmc/ I totally missed that thread until now, but nevertheless we're on this guy as well)
  10. Yesterday D'Hara (the nation, leading nation of the alliance D'Haran Empire) was attacked by a raider nation, Apache PMC. This nation has repeatedly declared wars regardless of any sort of common sense in the past. A week ago, they attacked a DHE member (Spartan1985), and were retaliated against by DHE until they agreed to peace. Now they have declared on the head nation of DHE, demanding that we change our alliance location for no conceivable reason. They have also attacked our friends at United Nations, trying to demand that they join him. D'Hara does not recognize war as a valid form of negotiations, especially considering Apache PMC's inability to even think that "hey, maybe it would be a good idea to ask for something before starting a fight". Among the list of alliances attacked by Apache PMC: D'Haran Empire Socialist International United Nations Ignis Imortales The Dutch East India Company United States of Terra The European Empire Brotherhood of the Clouds Apache PMC has continually hopped between alliances and shown that they cannot even remotely handle staying peaceful or simply minding their own business. We are retaliating as such and damaging the nation for as long as possible before beiging it, and recommend them as a target to other alliances. -Pax, Lord Rahl of the D'Haran Empire
  11. o/ VE Good luck on your end, nice to see that you're copying us yet again with the mergers

    Summer!

Confirmed: I'm an Australian nation with -116 food a day
  13. Hey, we hit 60 total alliances in the game. Someone has to do something to keep that number down Also, your signature's gif is almost hypnotic.
  14. The D'Haran Empire has now added National Supreme Council to it's merger list, and includes them in it's ranks. Welcome
  15. Stargate Atlantis has now commenced their merger into DHE. As of now we have jumped to rank #27 with 11 members, and when the other member joins it should put us at rank 26 with 12 members.
  16. The D'Haran Empire continues it's growth and has invited many smaller alliances directly to join them. While we have not yet heard from many alliances, several have expressed interest. This announcement is to recognize two already completed mergers; one with Titan PMC, and another with Celtic League. We welcome both of these alliances to the Empire with open arms, and protect them as our own. With this we have gotten ourselves involved in some raids and conflicts, but we have negotiated peace for all of these situations and are handling them accordingly. We thank Ignis Imortales for being helpful and understanding in the negotiations of peace with Titan PMC. We hope to continue to recruit new members and alliances to our cause, and are glad to have the very fast growth that new alliances rarely have. Any who are interested in joining us can contact me by IRC, PM or forums. -Pax, Lord Rahl of the D'Haran Empire
  17. DHE has now broken the top 30 alliances at rank 29 See ya'll at the top
  18. Maybe it's just me, but it seems weird to have the limited number of options to sort by. For example, the alliance search. You have the option to sort the alliances by date created and score, either ascending or descending for each. Why are those the limits? Sorting by members, Avg. Strength, Color, and name would also make sense.
  19. Not sure how much I agree with it, simply because costs are already rising exponentially the further to late-game you get. Seems like all this will do is lower the ceiling even further for how far you can grow before it's almost pointless to continue building. Also, it just doesn't really make a lot of sense. Why would my one city, if it was #11, cost more for a highly developed nation to establish than it would cost for some new nation with next to no actual production capacity? It would seem to me that as your cities get more productive and capable, and you're more experienced at construction and expansion, it would be easier to build up a city - not harder.
  20. The D'Haran Empire has moved their forums to dhempire.com
  21. DHE's forums are now located at http://www.dhempire.com/and are much more updated than they previously were We welcome any and all interested alliances to set up an embassy with us and join us in #DHE_Public!
