I think there are two intertwined issues here. First, I agree that the programming of this game is terrible and many of the mechanics are ineptly done. I'm speaking as a game designer here, not as a player, but I assume many players who've tried CN and other such games would agree that Alex misunderstood entire concepts. For example, if your 'turn' is once a day, then it makes sense to have projects be 10 days. When your 'turn' is every 2 hours, then it no longer does. Also, this game really needs technology trading. However, none of that causes political stagnation. What causes political stagnation is people putting a premium on certain concepts at the expense of other things. For example, if you join an alliance, you are expected to show loyalty to that alliance. This is often more prized than how active you are, how good you are at various tasks (be it Econ, FA, Milcom or whatever) and what else you might bring to the table. And once people are loyal to you, your cause and your alliance, they are for the most part going to stay that way, and this translates up the line to various treaties and keeps various blocs and factions aligned together. If the 2iC of some alliance in Oasis decided he or she wanted a similar position in Hedge, Rose or Quack or wherever, would they be welcomed as a cure for political stagnation or would they be looked at as a potential spy seeking OpSec stuff? Are new players who join 83 alliances in 3 weeks seen as a cure for political stagnation, or are they seen as loose cannons, rogues and mavericks? Go put a very young teenager like Riverstan, Jaden or Luna directly in charge of your top-whatever alliance for a week if you want all political stagnation in Orbis cured forever. If you just thought that sentence was ridiculous, you're okay with the status quo and therefore ultimately okay with political stagnation. But if you really hate political stagnation, then everyone reading this needs to follow Arthur's lead, and wake up and decide you're moving your alliance to Oasis or some other such area of the treaty web you personally haven't been to in a while.

Wow, I was an idiot. That was my first thought after looking back on this thread after 90 days. But experience is experience. You don't know what you don't know. For example, I'm terrible at warfare and espionage. And diplomacy, communication, and anything to do with FA, IA, Econ or Milcom. I'm not even good at keeping my country around; I've already rerolled once since January. But I like the game. I enjoy watching Reward Ads, I play baseball, I tinker with the pixels in my country, and I enjoy fighting 5 people every 2 days. If alliances disappeared tomorrow, I would be sad for the friends I have on Discord, but I'd still keep playing. I'm playing the game because I like the game.

Today is March 1st. Since, as you said "It will be a while from now," then I respectfully suggest that you wait exactly 1 month and post in the 1st of next month. I assure you, your announcement will then be timely, and you will get more people giving your alliance the due consideration it deserves. In fact, I can honestly say that there's not a person on these forums that will dispute my suggestion that you posted exactly 1 month early. Because then people will see that you're a patient and dedicated fellow who has put thought and effort into his undertaking and who understands the value of follow-through and patience.

I agree. I recently got a bunch of recruiting messages (being a new player) and I immediately tossed all the ones that said "aren't you tired of bots?" and "You'll probably ignore this!" and other such self-defeating silliness. Just speak your truth: "I want you to join my alliance because I want to accrue power and a player base!" or "Join my alliance because I want to help new players!" or whatever your truth is, and people will respond to it.

Just watched the episode where O'Brien is a clone but doesn't know it. Anyway, to get back to the topic of The Dominion, I read your NAP treaty the other day. I think your post is fine. Buck has been in this game over 2,000 days. You've been in this game over 1,000 days, and most recently had a chunk of time with the Commonwealth. You must both know lots of people in the game at this point. That entitles you to your moment in the sun. If you want to post that you have a PIAT with The Jake-Nog Consortium Alliance, or whatever treaty you want to write about, that's valid under these forum rules. I'm not you guys. I'm a nobody new player. But it impressed me how polite and respectful you were to all the ribbing you got. So I hope you do well with this recruiting thread and I hope the Dominion flourishes. I'm new here, so forgive me for speaking out of turn, but it's my guess that most alliances can offer a seasoned staff, grants for new players, and so forth. However, with the tech sci-fi world that we're living in, that bit about Python is a good selling point.
