I don't think it's probably cheaper to build an oil refinery just for your own needs, but if you were planning on exporting some gasoline to make money it may be worth the investment.

Yup, down in Africa (where your nation is) winter happens in June.

I will take a look, a few users have reported this where alliances with only 1 member have been deleted occasionally. Do you know when it was deleted, by chance? Was it at the game update?

Right, I've bugged them like 4 times about it now, and each time they rebuild part of the virtual server or something, and then I don't know why it stops working after a while. I'll see what I can do about the issue.

We've discussed this before and I think decided it would 1) Be a hassle to code and 2) Potentially be a drain on server resources during updates The best solution I came up with is that, if you wanted to send someone 5 coal/day or w/e, create an offer to sell them 100 coal at X price and have them accept the trade as they need it. If one day they need 5 coal, they enter 5 in the box, and then they still have the option to buy 95 more coal, etc. This doesn't have any impact on server resources because it's not a bunch of operations being ran at once, and provides for what you want to do (with added flexibility, I might add).

Welcome to Politics & War! Sounds like you'll make a wonderful addition to our community

I'm not quite sure what your question is, but to address the topic of war: There's no in-game limitation on who you can attack other than the war range. What the war range is, is a way to keep giant nations from being able to fight little ones. You'll only be able to fight people that have similar nation sizes and military capabilities as you. Now from the player side of things, generally if you attack someone in an alliance their alliance members will attack you back. Of course, sometimes the alliances will go to war with each other where fighting happens quite a bit, but in general times of peace (like now) attacking random people (in alliances) is a no-no unless you want to be attacked back.

Well, that's almost correct. Let me take a look at the number of turns displayed.

I agree with you that ideas are bulletproof, and that's why I think that the best solution is not through warfare but through economics. By building their nations and increasing their quality of life, they'll lose their will to fight and be more satisfied with a more peaceful and prosperous life. As for whether they're democratic/republic government forms in the nations is off little consequence. We can't force democracy or a republican form of government onto a people that don't want it. Every nation is a democracy, once the people living there realize they have the power to make it so. You are correct that the captured oil fields are a cash cow for ISIS, but you have to realize it's not the main source of their income. They are the government in the regions that they control, and they are imposing taxes on everyone that lives in ISIS territory. You want to run your business? You pay ISIS. You want to be able to go to the market and get food for your family? You pay ISIS. So long as they have control they will have the money they need to keep fighting, regardless of whether we bomb all their oil fields or not.

Yes, they do use resources, and yes, Atzuya's link is still valid. For an example, if someone attacks you and you decisively win the battle, you'll use considerably less resources than you normally would. This is to prevent people from attacking you just to force you to use your resources.

I can understand this assumption, the part I was addressing was:

I tried googling it and looking at the documentation and couldn't find any reason why it wouldn't display correctly. It works just fine on the example charts. For the time being, it's hardly gamebreaking so I've just left it alone.

Interesting, thanks for sharing that information. I didn't know what it cost to develop an app, but I'm looking at learning some Android development knowledge currently. Do you know how hard it is to port an android app over to iOS? Flappy bird had far more users than P&W will have. Even the ads on the website now don't make anywhere close to $50K a day, it's often times cents on the dollar.

Correct, that is how it works out. The maximum people can make in a city is 3x their avg income. 100% simply is saying they've reached their max potential, whereas 85% or 45% or w/e just means they're a part of the way there. I'm not sure where Atzuya got 2x out of 100%.

The only main difference I've noticed is the Metro UI, but I just simply don't use it. I only ever see it if I accidentally click the Windows key, really. Other than that it works just like I'd expect Windows 7 to.

Hello everyone! Just a quick update to let you know that I've changed how long it takes for inactive nations to be deleted. Previously, the limit was 45 days before a nation was deleted, which I think is too long. There are a lot of inactive nations and the odds of those folks coming back after 43 or 44 days is slim, so I've reduced the limit from 45 days to 30 days. You will still receive inactivity e-mails before your nation is deleted, just like before. I wanted to give a quick update on the status of the game as well -- things are going smoothly. I'm working on making minor additions, fixing minor bugs, etc. but so far things have gone really well since we launched. The number of players we have has grown quickly, and I'm doing my best to get some advertising going so that we can get more players in our community. I'm also looking at developing or paying to have an app developed for the game. I think that increased accessibility via iOS and Android would 1) Bring in a lot of new players and 2) Be a huge convenience for you guys that are already playing and use mobile devices. I've contacted a few companies about developing an app since I have no experience or knowledge of how it works, and so far I've gotten one response back with a quoted price of $30,000 to $40,000, which is obviously far outside the price range for a small game like this. If you're an app developer or know an app developer who might be interested in taking on a project like this, please contact me by sending me a Private Message either here on the forums or in the game. Thanks, and as always, you guys are awesome!

I'm somewhat undecided on the issue of the West vs. ISIS. On one hand, I'm obviously not pro-ISIS. They're doing horrible things and I don't think they should be able to form their own state. They're a terrorist organization and should be treated like one. On the other hand, I'm not for airstrikes against them, and I'm certainly not for sending American troops to Syria & Iraq to fight them. Since we've started airstrikes, ISIS recruitment has increased significantly. We're turning the more moderate people living in regions that ISIS controls into people willing to fight and die for ISIS because they see Americans meddling in their business, killing their friends and family, etc. I think that for every terrorist that we kill, we create 10 more, and we're not addressing the actual issue of terrorism. I think that putting boots on the ground to retake Iraq & Syria is a possible solution, but very costly in regards to money spent, casualties, and we'd have to be there for a long, long time. As soon as we withdrew from Iraq there was a power struggle and ISIS has come out on top (so far). Now I'm no foreign policy expert by any means, and I don't know if this has been suggested by someone far more qualified than myself, but it seems to me that the best way to stop the terrorism in the middle east would be by providing financial aid to the countries there. Nearby Arab countries, like Saudi Arabia, UAE, and even Iran seem to have far less interest in waging war against America. They're more peaceful and more prosperous countries. I think that we ought to finance the building of infrastructure, create industry, etc. in Iraq, Syria, and Afganistan so that they become more developed countries, and the people within have a better standard of living. They'll be far less likely to give up a nice prosperous life and come try to fight the country that game them all the perks of a developed country. Essentially, something like the Marshall Plan, but for the middle east. It might seem silly to "reward" our enemies, but we would be able to curb the appeal of terrorist groups and hopefully bring peace to the middle east. Just my two cents. I could be entirely wrong. Like I said, not a foreign policy expert.

The commerce rate is just the indicator of wealth in a city. I don't know why 100% would imply a double in income, it simply means a city is at its max for how much money the people can make.

Was the nation reset when you clicked on it?

Windows 8 is a lot like Windows 7, but performs better/uses less system resources. I haven't had any issues with Windows 8 since I started using it on my new PC.
-
It ought to be fixed now so that the max amount of soldier you can buy that's shown takes into account the population limit as well.

That sounds strange. You don't see something like: What browser are you using, and can you provide a screenshot of what you're seeing?
