  1. The limit still applies, as users still have to download the whole image regardless of whether it's tiled across or stretched. I understand there can be some quality loss (depending on your screen resolution) but until we live in an era of high speed connections for all, we'll have to keep the limits.
  2. That's not a bug, that's game mechanics. They have high upkeep costs, and will only net profit if you have a large enough population.
  3. This was a simple, 20 minutes to implement idea that I had. Testing took about 1 minute on the test server to look at it, make sure nothing was broken, and roll it out. If gameplay changes were that easy, we'd have new content all the time. On a separate note, I did make a change just now so that these backgrounds no longer repeat. Instead they'll be stretched to simply fit your resolution.
  4. Your blog entries should all be saved in the database, that's not really the issue. The trouble is simply that ss23 is trying to come up with a secure way to add them to the server, so as not to compromise the entire forums, and that's been our delay.
  5. Welcome to the game! The forums are the right place to ask any questions you might have, and get involved with other players!
  6. Log onto IRC with the nickname that you want to register, and then do the following command: /ns register PASSWORD E-MAIL Where password and e-mail are your information. The server will send you an e-mail with an authentication code which you must verify, and then your account is set. Now that you're registered, when you log on to IRC you'll do /ns identify PASSWORD And it will recognize you and give you the permissions (like if you own a channel, it will recognize you as the channel owner once you've identified) To register a channel, you must be on your registered, identified nickname and then go to the channel you want to register. Then use the command: /cs register #CHANNEL PASSWORD DESCRIPTION Where #CHANNEL is your channel name, PASSWORD is a new password specifically for the channel (in case you ever needed access but couldn't use your nick for some reason) and I don't know what description does. I usually just put like "Hello" or something insignificant there.
  7. To do what you want, you're going to have to register your nickname. With a registered nickname, you can then create channels, which gives you ownership of them (even higher permissions than op, and you maintain them even when you're not online). Once a channel is registered, users won't automatically receive the op permission if they're the first person in the channel either.
  8. There are now indicators on ground, air, and naval battle screens that pop up if you're missing resources (gasoline/munitions) to use all of your forces. I also cleaned up the little green indicators when you purchase military units to be the nicer styled ones used around the rest of the site. I'm sure there have been a number of other changes that I can't think of, but those are two that I made last night. Yes, I think so at some point.
  9. Name changes don't affect location changes, and every nation starts with one free location change. Only logical explanation is that you used it at one point and don't remember.
  10. Sorry about that, I screwed up when I updated the files and didn't get it working quite right on the live server before I made the announcement. The page exists and works now, so go ahead and send in your requests!
  11. For everyone's future reference, if you're going to post something that's questionably graphic content, please wrap it in a
  12. Along with a number or minor improvements and changes that better the game every day, I've got an exciting announcement for everyone! VIP members have a new perk, and that is that you can have a custom nation background for your nation page. Here's an example picture of what my nation looks like: Very similar to National Anthems, as a VIP member you simply go to the Donate page, click "Custom Nation Background" (It will only appear if you've purchased VIP) and then submit your request. Within 48 hours I'll get around to approving it, and you'll have a dapper looking nation page! Neat, huh? A few important things that I should mention are: Image sizes can be 1280 by 720 pixels, max. Background tile horizontally, but not vertically They do not fade to white automatically. I edited my picture and added a white gradient at the bottom, which is something you're welcome to do, but it will not happen on it's own I'm excited to see what kind of neat pictures everyone comes up with, and encourage anyone who is not a VIP member to make the transition (It's only $5) and help support the game. The option is available directly on the Donate page. If you have any questions, please let me know. Enjoy!
  13. It's pretty straightforward! You asked in the right spot. First, click the "Baseball" link in the sidebar and create your team. That should only take a minute or two, and once your team is created, you can start playing! You can play Away Games, where you'll be matched instantly, and if you win you earn some money for your nation. Alternatively, you can host a Home game and then wait for someone else to play you. When someone matches against you, you'll receive a notification telling you the results of the game, and you'll earn some money by selling tickets to the game. There is the possibility of earning extra money if you win your home game as well. That's the basics of it, you just play games (for free) and earn money by playing. You can upgrade your players' stats, which increases your chances of winning, or you can upgrade your stadium, which will increase your revenue for home games, but be careful: upgrades are expensive and you'll probably never make money playing baseball if you start upgrading things (unless you play a lot of games). If you have any more questions, ask away, I or someone else will help you out
  14. I'd like to create another read and quiz page for new players on the subject of alliances, in an effort to promote more new players joining alliances. We have lots and lots of people signing up every day, but a lot of new nations don't join alliances, which I think is very beneficial and necessary to really enjoy the game in the long term. I'm looking for general information about why new players should join alliances, things like protection, money, community, etc. that are provided. It's obviously not going to cater to any alliance in particular, or be biased in any way, so please just give me some information that you think is important to work with. Thanks!
  15. Technically yes, but I'm not sure what can be done about it. I'll ask ss23 if he has any ideas.
  16. Another one of our forum issues that we won't be able to fix yet :/ I've removed the emoticons in the meantime. We should be able to get new ones soon though, along with the blogs.
