Popular Post Ogaden Posted April 11, 2017 Popular Post Share Posted April 11, 2017 Someone asked me to repost this so: I think fortify is an interesting idea but it has really limited utility other than increasing resistance. Fortify should be renamed to "Prepare Defenses", with four options: "Deploy SAM Batteries" increase resistance by 5, 10% chance to destroy every attacking enemy aircraft (every enemy plane rolls to survive), costs 10 gas, alu and mun per city, is exhausted after 2 air attacks "Lay Sea Mines" increase resistance by 5, 10% chance to destroy every attacking enemy ship (every enemy ship rolls to survive), costs 10 steel and mun per city, is exhausted after 2 sea attacks "Plant Anti-Tank Mines" increase resistance by 5, 10% chance to destroy every attacking tank (every enemy tank rolls to survive), costs 10 mun per city, is exhausted after 2 ground attacks "Plant Anti-Personnel Mines" increase resistance by 5, 10% chance to destroy every attacking soldier (every enemy soldier rolls to survive), costs 10 mun per city, is exhausted after 2 ground attacks You can stack up to 3 of each type so you can deal up to 30% kill chance if you've had enough time to pile on SAM sites for instance. A really lucky roll of SAM batteries could take out the whole attacking air force if the RNG gods hate them enough. This would give more tools in the defender's toolbox, where a piled on defender could work to grind down their attackers a little bit, enough that relief forces have an easier time. 13 Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Yang Posted April 11, 2017 Share Posted April 11, 2017 (edited) I don't​ like it. It puts too much focus on something that isn't really important. I'd rather there just be an air attack that does double resistance damage. Attacks on fortified nations should take extra casualties. I think fortify has a tactical purpose, it should be something like buying time for counters or making it expensive for someone to hit a fully bulked up nation, at the cost of early MAPs. There is no need for additional complexities, the current increase of 10 resistance each time is very well thought out. A nation which chooses to bunker down and take all infra damage and refusing to surrender, happens in real-life too. I agree anti-aircraft batteries/sea mines can be better represented here, simply by having soldiers/tanks dealing a token some of damage to fighter jets, rather than comletely zero at the moment.
