You crack me up.
  2. Yeah, once the position was elaborated a little more fully, I realized that. I originally thought that we were talking about the same kind of privatization as the privatization of the mail services and healthcare. Still, if cities go bankrupt (Detroit, anyone?), will they have to forego police services (not that Detroit's police were doing a good job anyway)? That could be even worse than individuals being without protection. Instead of just the lower class not being protected, the middle class will be unprotected too (the upper class is untouchable).
  3. Can we ever really be certain of anything? Maybe we think we know things, but is it even possible to know you know something? You know?
  4. Nope. They won't provide the best service possible. They'll provide the cheapest service possible. Sure, maybe the individual cops do their job the best they can, but the companies will still want to make mega profits. I can very easily see a WalMart of crime prevention emerging.
  5. These two things are why I'm so surprised that hospitals and healthcare in general aren't public services. They seem like such a perfect fit for public service.
  6. Hell no. If the police were privatized, victims of robbery, murder, assault, etc. would be the ones shouldering the burden of payment (which would be pretty hefty I'll bet). The victims are the ones who are already at a disadvantage. If you didn't pay your bill the police likely wouldn't help you the next time you need help. Imagine having to give out credit card information after you've been robbed. This is just a terrible idea.
  7. It's still lurking on the second page. Once Casey resurrects it from the dead all of you should watch out. All former EoS members will return to the one true alliance and go on a bloody rampage that will threaten even TEst. We will not stop until all of orbis is under our control.
  8. Well, we love war. We're just not huge fans of declaring war. We prefer to bail people out instead of being bailed out. It makes us look better. I went to Rose because that's where our active members were going. The first ones to leave all have their own reasons, but we all kinda wanted to distance ourselves from EoS as much as possible, and how much further away can you get than the enemy? EDIT: Seriously though, their DoE and members were major factors in my decision. 1. We were opposed to the war, but we love to fight (see above). 2. We are too lazy to stage a coup. 3. EoS might not be around today, even without the war (although I agree, it likely would be around). Because we don't want to cramp Jodo's style.
  9. This doesn't happen very often, so I think it's interesting whenever someone new takes over an already successful alliance. At any rate, EoS had so many problems that with everyone in government leaving (except wisd0mtree), it would have been difficult, if not impossible to continue for very long.
  10. Nation Name: Transylvania Nation Link: https://politicsandwar.com/nation/id=2987
  11. Wisd0mtree became king (briefly) once Cyradis left, so Casey could have given him control instead of deleting it. I can't tell you guys what Casey's personal reasoning was for saying he was going to delete EoS and then not doing that (because I'm not him). What I can tell you about are the events that led up to the disbandment and the state of the alliance in its last days. EDIT: Additional details.
  12. Very well. I can't answer your question fully because not everybody in gov spoke up, but casey was the only one who actually said anything in support of the war. None of the rest of us (from what I can tell) supported the war based on TAC plotting against us. I can see positives from the war, (brief increased activity in the alliance and a boost to the market) but to act like those logs were justification for war is simply ridiculous. EDIT: At what point am I allowed to give a half-response to a penetrating question? 5 questions? 7? lol. Casey did have an announcement saying to join UPN, not GPA, but congrats on finding an alliance you like. As for why EoS exists, I can't tell you. Last I talked to Casey, he was intent on quitting the game and deleting EoS, but he's kept the alliance up and withdrew $583,000 three days ago followed by the purchase of several raw materials (primarily Iron). He did tell me he intends to log in every once in a while to keep his nation from being deleted automatically.
  13. I'm not going to say who was against it, but the reasoning was that when casey gave the logs to the alliance, there were no screenshots, so there was no way of verifying the validity of the logs. What was given to us could have been written out in a word document (even though TAC later confirmed the logs). Also, some felt that preempting TAC was a PR nightmare that would only make us look even worse in the international community (which it did).
  14. I don't know if he pressured our allies into war, but I suspect that he didn't. UPN and DEIC are extremely loyal, and I doubt it would take much for them to help out a friend in need.
  15. What Pub said. Also, many of our members felt like VoC brought that on themselves and shouldn't be bailed out. PS. DEIC: Thank you so much for bailing us out this time. Phiney answered you sufficiently. We had an MDoAP with VOC, which outranked the NAP.
  16. That's a vague question. So vague in fact, that it makes me think it's a pity question. At any rate, Bernard is partially right. While Casey was pretty much the only one that wanted the war, there was more outrage over our involvement in WWA than in this war. Cyradis and JHH (our King and MoD) left soon after the war ended. The very next day, Casey told me he was quitting the game and merging EoS with UPN. This was rather abrupt because just a day or so before that, we were discussing plans to institute an academy for new members. Normally, he would have handed control over to Wisd0mtree (the new king), but he didn't. When asked why he didn't do that, he said "I would have to dislike someone extremely to put them in charge of EoS."
  17. Right. I apologize. I don't know how I managed to forget that.
  18. You don't need to care, but somebody might. There's been a lot of speculation, and I detest misinformation.
  19. There seems to be a lot of confusion about what happened to EoS internally in the week or so leading up to Casey leaving the game. I have been in EoS for several months, and I was Minister of the Internal Affairs for the past four months, so I feel qualified to answer any questions you may have from the beginning of the war with TAC through the disbandment. Fire away, and I'll do my best to answer your questions as thoroughly as possible.
  20. Should I start a new thread to do a Q&A on the state of EoS (from right before and after the War of Defensive Aggression)? 'Cause nobody on the outside of EoS apparently agrees on what happened. Back to Hereno: I understand why you're doing what you're doing. I just don't think the benefits are great enough to outweigh everything happening to your alliance.
  21. No, I'm not saying you're incompetent. I'm saying it's starting to feel like this (whether or not it's the reality): TEst: Fronthand or backhand? Hereno: Backhand. *TEst slaps Hereno* Hereno: I figured it out! Fronthand! *TEst slaps Hereno* *Hereno consults his alliance* Hereno: Backhand. I understand that your alliance is extremely loyal to you. That's a good thing, and congratulations for that. It's just at some point, you have to realize that taking this beating is worse than listening to your alliance. Of course, it's your call, and you're free to do what you want. It just kinda hurts to watch you go on like this.
  22. I've tried to stay out of this quarrel until now, but I find that I can no longer restrain myself. 1. Of course, that means you're being 2. As far as I can tell, TEst wants neither war or peace right now. They want to make a point, and until Hereno is no longer in power, their point has not been made. 3. That being said, I didn't dislike any of the people or alliances involved before this war, but the longer this goes on, the less I feel like Hereno is a competent leader. Just step down for a little while Hereno. Just until TEst declares peace and moves on to other things.
