*dances* Worth the... about seven-hour wait. I'm pleased.

If nothing else, I'll finally have a place to put Kressnia's lore and stuff down. Good stuff, good stuff.

Landerest, Kingdom of Evenstar The small Kressnian entourage wasn't discouraged by a lack of transport waiting for them; the airport staff covered it at least partly, and within thirty minutes after their arrival, they were in a pair of taxis that had been called by the airport to take them across the city to the royal palace. Taxis that happened to be rather beaten up, filthy, and (to the shock and horror of Danica's compatriots in the car with her) one of them was blaring loud, utterly vulgar rap music. And that car just so happened to be the one she entered. Oh, shit, thought Andrej, her personal assistant. This isn't going to go well. The Supreme Leader was somewhat particular about her musical tastes-- they knew she mostly enjoyed classical music more than most other genres, for example, and knew that for the most part she found rap as a genre, as well as its descendants from their home universe, to be "utter filth with no substance" or to use a less polite term, "sranje". But she didn't really bother with asking the driver to change the station. To add to it, the driver seemed to be a pimple-faced, greasy-haired Croat who had been living in this city prior to the Kressnian colonization of the Balkans, and all he did was gawk, gab questions at the Supreme Leader in broken Serbian, which was close enough to Kressnian to be understandable and communicable, and barely suppress his leering looks toward Danica herself, clearly wondering what was underneath her suit jacket and blouse. This was ignored with much grace by the Supreme Leader, but not by her aides. Scandalous! Andrej thought, and his comrade Mikhail clearly had the same thought. Utterly disrespectful little shit! If we weren't in a car, I'd--! A look from the Supreme Leader, one surprisingly calm and filled with-- mirth?-- stopped his train of thought. Clearly, absolutely none of this was getting to her. She really did have the patience of a saint sometimes. Or at least she was very good at hiding any seething she might have been doing. Just one more reason to look up to her, Andrej mused, as they finally pulled up to the palace after an agonizing twenty minutes. The rap was still blaring, and to Andrej and Mikhail's horror, there looked to be uniformed men waiting for the group, who likewise looked utterly mortified. Andrej cursed under his breath, but the Supreme Leader... began to laugh, and kept laughing, at the image of how absurd this had to look after that time she spent getting herself ready and presentable. Andrej and Mikhail both thought this seemed a bit out of character; the Supreme Leader was, on most occasions, a consummate professional, rarely given to such open levity while on the job. They had forgotten that this trip wasn't meant to be incredibly serious to begin with, but Danica had remembered. Oh well, Danica thought to herself, still giggling as she paid the driver. It could be worse. We could be covered in shit or something! Shaking her head, she positively beamed and waved at the guards as the gates to the palace opened and she, her aides, and her few bodyguards assembled, and Danica led the way toward the guards, her sleek black heels clicking on the ground with the same assured, confident strides she always had. She was just smiling more this time. My dignity will only be lost if I allow it to be, dammit, she thought to herself, still quite cheerful. And though none of them said it, nor could they read her mind, her entourage was able to understand that loud and clear anyway.

Landerest, Kingdom of Evenstar When Danica Ambrozije, Supreme Leader of the Republic of Kressnia, had first gotten word of the planet Orbis from the Pords, she hadn't had any real idea what to expect. Now it had been several months since the Kressnians had arrived in the Balkans, and it appeared that things were finally really settling down: More technology from the Republic was being integrated into the PW-1 Colony (now unofficially nicknamed "Kressnian Yugoslavia"), and the natives were rapidly growing accustomed to it and the presence of the Kressnians themselves, who likewise were integrating with the natives quite smoothly. Unlike with how it started with the UMS, where her people had been intimidated by the idea of these huge alien empires compared to their single star system, the Kressnians felt like here, they could actually have an impact on others around them, and it appeared this was the general motivating factor for their willingness to interact with those around them. Danica was thankful for this, as even to her it appeared that the rest of Orbis that was actually occupied by any polity of note except the UMS colonies was either suffering from perpetual terrorist attacks, declaring wars left and right (there was apparently a new crusade going on, for God's sake!), declaring vassalhoods as if the feudal system still existed, having nationwide power outages, or otherwise vanishing overnight and/or reorganizing into some completely different nation in another part of the world, complete with timeline anomalies that it appeared only Danica herself seemed to be aware of, because no-one else seemed to know these things went on and there didn't appear to be any economic repercussions for these events whatsoever. But there did seem to be at least one exception to this utter insanity: The Kingdom of the Evenstar. Danica had first met the current king of the Evenstar at a summit she had held in Kressnian Belgrade months ago, and she had been immediately intrigued by the nation itself, just as much as the king had been surprised to learn that the Kressnians themselves were not, in fact, aliens, but humans. A small, yet powerful Christian nation that held the southern parts of the Iberian peninsula as well as Sardinia and Corsica, she had noted Evenstar to be a nation that she either didn't recognize some ancient human pop cultural influence on (except perhaps the name of the country)-- or outright being such nations-- did not appear to have an utterly ridiculous concept when she thought about it (fascist penguins?!), nor was it suffering from any particular calamities. And so Danica had requested the opportunity to perhaps take some time down the road to conduct a personal visit to the place, simply to be able to take a breath and actually be able to take in and enjoy the fact that she was currently on Earth-- or a version of it-- before going back to the NS-1 universe to resume her duties as Supreme Leader. And with that in mind, as the Kressnian Bellic 907 passenger jet touched down at the local airport of Landerest, the capital of Evenstar, Danica took the time to look as good as she could before exiting the plane with her small entourage. A state visit with full honors this was not, but it wouldn't do for a national leader to not be presentable or professional. She wanted to make a good second impression after all. Here, she was the guest, and for royalty to boot.

We still do. Personally I don't see anything particularly objectionable, but I think Schwieger makes good points about rewording things a bit.

I'm sorry, but you're seeming a bit paranoid here. We've explained this before and I'm getting tired of repeating it: Every single one of us has at least six years of RP experience under our belts. We know how RP goes. Not a single one of us is interested in fracking you guys over for lulz, because every single one of us is more mature and has more sense than that. And if down the road, some noob or troll does try it? Deploy the Ignore Cannon, because those kinds of posts are NOT RP.

Supreme Leader Danica Ambrozije herself sends her deepest condolences to all those affected by this horrific event, and offers to send what aid her nation can in this time of great need.

Novi Dvor Inside the Novi Dvor, the elegant dining area which this summit was being held in had been turned into a banquet hall. Danica, noting the first arrival as a Mri diplomat, gave her a wide smile of her own, giving a polite little bow as she approached the female. "We are honored to have you here, Phage s'Auror Asaro. Please, help yourself to the food we've provided, and give Queen Phage and Nika my greetings and thanks for her kind words," she replied, and she looked to an aide who pulled her aside: Andrej Vlastimirovic, a promising young man who had accompanied her to the initial signing of the UMS Charter at Tnem-Fragg. Since that time he had become something of regular fixture among her immediate staff, as she was rarely seen without him. "Your Excellency, we've received word that several dignitaries have arrived," he said to her, and Danica nodded, motioning for him to follow her toward the head of the table. "Who, precisely, are we going to see?" "A Triskeli diplomat has been confirmed to have arrived," Andrej replied, "and we have received word that Imperial Calondia, a nation in Southeast Asia-- Japan I believe-- has sent someone to meet us. The implications of an ancient entity like the Soviet Union-- or at least ancient in her home universe-- being around in this time period were fascinating. From what we understand, however, they are on one side of a civil war, with the Russian Federation on the other. They seem to be the rebels in this situation." Danica furrowed her brow, and nodded, folding her arms slowly. "I see. Perhaps they're seeking diplomatic recognition." "It might be too late for that, Your Excellency. The last our intelligence knew of this situation was the Soviets aren't exactly doing very well. The war may already be over by now." "Asylum seekers?" "That may be the case. What will we do, Your Excellency?" Andrej asked, and he looked rather concerned. "The political fallout could be--" Danica raised a hand in a gentle gesture to shut him up, and he obliged immediately. "We will cross that bridge when we come to it, Andrej," she said to him. "For now, peaceful contact is key here." "Of course, Your Excellency." _________________________________ Belgrade Airport As the delegates from Evenstar, Calondia, and Triskel waited, a convoy of sleek black automobiles greatly resembling SUVs quickly pulled up to take the dignitaries to the Novi Dvor, and waited for them to get in. Once they were all ready, they would be taken straight to the summit as quickly as possible.

Correctamundo. For the new RP, however, that would be contained in the relevant OOC thread for a given RP.

I believe he was referring to the thread I made, "Balkan Summit", wherein I explicitly said in the first post that anyone who wished to join did not have to announce that their nation wished to attend-- I did this for two reasons: First to keep clutter to a minimum, and also because, within the context of the story itself, the invitations for various nations were sent out one week before the summit itself, giving enough time for those nations to send representatives on time. I still need to post... I swear I will guise pls dont murder me in my sleep.

I pretty much agree with everything Mayor has said, but I'd like to add something, specifically about IC and OOC separation. It was mentioned in the previous thread that the concept of IC and OOC threads for a specific RP would be used. But I'd like to expand on that with something from my solo RPing on a Star Wars site: There were (and are still) subforums for canon threads and OOC threads to accompany them, but there were also subforums for "Diverse Roleplay", meaning "anything not related to the timeline of the site or Star Wars itself", basically where all the non-canon stuff went. Now, we likely won't be getting subforums to separate the IC and OOC in new RP, but the concept of separate threads remains. But here's the important part-- in the Diverse RP subforums, the OOC thread always came first. This was to gauge interest for the RP, as well as give an overview of the setting and scenario, but because all the RPs involved characters, these OOC threads were also where character profiles were submitted. I believe this system would work for what we're talking about here. So, say I wanted to make a Harry Potter RP set in the present day. I would make the OOC thread first to explain the RP and "House Rules" and how many people I was wanting, produce my own main character profile so everyone knows who I'm playing, then allow anyone interested to submit a character using whatever profile format they wished. Then if someone submitted a character who, say, was Lord Voldemort's secret love child or otherwise had some canon-breaking qualities about them, I'd deny that profile and explain why. Because I tend to take my HP canon very seriously. Once enough people joined and knew the rules, as well as had characters that worked, I would tag the RP thread itself as "THREAD TITLE" [Harry Potter RP] [Closed] This sort of thing where OOC threads allow for profiles would even extend to Era RPs. Like if I made a medieval version of Kressnia for such an RP I would make a "profile" to explain my nation. Whew... I hope that was coherent, because it's 6:30 AM and I'm exhausted. I just felt this needed to be said.

How do you think we felt when we-- specifically myself, Mriverse, and Shex-- posted introductions and got no responses? Not a peep from anyone. I for one was really bummed out, and I was positively elated when my summit got attention. I still need to post for that but I'm still figuring stuff out for what to say. But you see, everyone being in their own little world is not a community. Planning in chats is fine, but playing out conversations and stuff in chat and posting the results in the forums do not stimulate roleplaying on the forums. Several of us started on MySpace Nations and I think by the end it was just twenty guys including me. We know what it's like to be in a close community, it's why we decided to turn away from NS (because it was so huge) and it's why I've been posting in threads the way you guys tend to do-- because I, and the rest of us, want to interact with you guys. And if I have to do posts your way while trying to get people to also do things the way we're used to in the process, hopefully by using my posts to inspire them to write more stuff out, then I'll do it, because I really like what I have here already, even if I'm not terribly invested in the game these forums are made for.

... I'm sorry, but I'm a little bit affronted. Did you read... any of the posts we've made in this thread? Did you catch the numerous times we said we weren't trying to force ourselves on you guys but just suggesting that maybe, just maybe, some of you might see how we RP and decide to do what we do, but for those that don't want to that's perfectly fine? Did you notice us talking very cordially with the mods here and agreeing that drastic changes aren't likely to happen? The most confrontational or assholish we've gotten here was Tonina doing some snark, which is normal for him. But here you come accusing us of boasting and acting like insensitive !@#$ when we're just trying to do something we legitimately think would help improve this site because we've experienced it multiple times, and for the first time since this thread was posted I actually feel angry and insulted. As far as I'm concerned the only one acting like an !@#$ right now is you. So please dial back your tone.

So that's how you guys do it? Interesting. I personally am no stranger to doing RPs in chats-- I RP on Skype all the time-- but doing stuff in a chat and having it count as canonical in the forums (or at least I assume they'd be canonical) doesn't really do much to get the forums active with such activity itself, which I suppose at least partially explains why things look so dead to us. How do I know this? I've been RPing on Gaia (shaddup) since like 2011. They hosted Meebo chats for years and I and my friends on that site would often do non-canon interactions there in addition to canonical stuff in RP guilds. Then around 2013-ish Gaia axed the Meebo support, and me and a few friends migrated over to Skype and did RPs there. The result? The guilds we were in withered and died because we weren't using them to do the actual RPing, and even now I still struggle to do stuff on Gaia itself. I (and my buddies here) actually want to stimulate the RP in the forums, hence why we have character interactions done here.

You just want to launch a new crusade, don't you? XD

Hey, you sent Soviet officials to my summit before this, so I'm curious, what happens to them? You gonna retcon it to say they never arrived, or are they still there, or what?
