For all of the "Grumpy is a whale tier hegemony, they're going to kill the game, they can't be trusted, they need to be killed first" I heard from some parties, it's frankly SHOCKING that Grumpy would declare a war they will likely lose. You mean to tell me those accusations and the people screaming about DBDC were..... Misguided, and incorrect, or using hot button words to try to stir up drama? That doesn't sound like the PnW I'm familiar with.

As a precursor to my response, it's really hard to judge tone on the forums, but to be clear, I didn't take your statement as a serious accusation of Cata being NPO. I was just making fun of how riled up the entire game gets whenever someone even comes remotely close to a comparison between NPO and some current alliance. I apologize that I couldn't resist talking about the comparison because I think we agree about the treaty texts. Namely the allies of your allies/BK and the future Coalition B. Not exactly a great group of people in the end. In general, there will always be supporters of any one FA move unless it is absolutely atrocious. I too had high hopes. As did many in Cata and Paradise. Specifically, from the bolded point, I wish you would have been in the bloc channels instead of the others because this is exactly what we were saying to t$ for literal months and we were bending over backwards to try and satisfy their requirements. I don't disagree with your assessment of what would've happened or could've happened but, from the start, Cata and Paradise were upfront with t$ about our plans and our assessment of the political landscape. It's pretty well known now what the rationale for joining was and, from the many times we'd discussed similar scenarios in the bloc chat, t$ could've guessed what Cata's reaction would be. ALL THIS TO SAY: my initial comment was specifically about the non-chaining agreement and the implied threat t$ made in that infamous thread, not about how t$ hitting Grumpy was analogous to Cata hitting Midgard.

Non-chaining has been assumed for most of PnW's existence. I am guessing they may have spelled out some of these terms explicitly as a hint to their recent affairs, but these articles don't actually cover what happened between t$ and Wayward so maybe it's just a new trend of making treaties explicit and clear? Tbh that's a trend I support.

If you speak unclearly, only you can be blamed when your words are misinterpreted. You've somehow misinterpreted my very clear statement. I can break it down: "People need to stop attributing the opinions of one person to people." Both you and Utter Nutter used the term "people" while responding to the comments of one person. This couldn't be more clear. "If I see comments in the next war TKR/Wayward win about how TKR and Wayward are against dogpiling, I will remind you that only Mayor is engaging in this. He's entitled to his opinion, but he's exactly one person." I am making a statement about the future here by using the words "if", "next war", and "I will". You've interpreted my statement as referring to the present and past, something that I am clearly not interested in. I encourage you to take greater care in your forum posts in the future so as not to seem like an idiot. (See here, I am not calling you an idiot, I'm advising you in the future to take greater care or else people might infer you are an idiot).

Honestly, pleasantly surprised by the response. I hope that the NAP signing wasn't primarily a PR move since I, personally, am in favor of the terms, but can't speak for the people that actually signed it. And, in a weird turn, I understand why you all entered. This war discussion has been weirdly candid. There's something freeing about being rolled, I suppose.

We had a very small window for action (TKR was losing military fast so the window for an impactful intervention was shrinking) and we took the action that, in that moment, appeared the best for our interests. We knew with 98% certainty y'all would join the fray, you're right. Where we differ mainly, I guess, is that an Oreo hit on Wayward would be bad for your PR? No offense, but when has either Rose or Eclipse cared for their image? And even if you did, who would make you pay for it? It would be very easy for you to force another NAP as you did with GGO, and then you've only got a weakened TKRsphere and Midgard as potential adversaries? Seems like any "backlash" would be worth that positioning especially when no one can do anything about it.
