  1. So your point is to berate players that play the game not to your satisfaction because they berate players that don't play to their satisfaction. Golly gee. Since i made and revived this thread i will elaborate. It's not that he goes in vm at every first sign of danger... It's that he goes into vm at every first sign of danger and plays it off like it's bad luck. That he really wants to fight and play but boy oh boy does his life just throw him poorly timed curveball after poorly timed curveball. It's not the vm. There's plenty of other guys that do it. He's they only one that tries to hide behind flimsy excuses and far stretched justification while pretending like he actually wants to fight. If he wants to play the game his way and just grow, that is fine. But he doesnt need to try to continually lie about it edit: i would also like to add: i forgot about this nice little gem he sent me
  2. if you call getting beiged twice (or was it three times...i forget) in a war where (to semi-quote robert holmes) "The upper tier is stacked in his favor so heavily it's not even funny" a decent job then yes, he did a decent job
  3. well thank goodness he wasn't in one these many periods where he is away for many days at a time today so he was able to immediately go back into vacation mode today
  4. oh dear it looks like LPS must have had some extra exams not originally listed on his syllabus. luckily he was able to log in the exact moment he came off vacation mode and was able to put himself back in safety so he could devote more time to the pursuit of his medical degree https://politicsandwar.com/nation/id=5478
  5. since we are on the subject of clarifying rules would you please clarify this rule? you have it in bold quite nicely right here, however i do not see it in the 'game rules' . i bet if you start looking at the number of nations in vacation mode you will see a huge increase in people deciding to go to the beach or something of the sort a few hours before and/or after a war declaration. what about people that aren't going on vacation and still have all of their facilities to access the game? many times you will find these people have logged in multiple times in a day while in 'vacation' mode and some have gone as far to pubblicly admit they arent even going on vacation. to me this is very telling it is being used as 'peace mode'. i know it is difficult to prove/enforce that - but when they publicly admit that they are using it to avoid war and/or arent going on vacation...well thats another bag of marbles. like i said - just looking for clarification
  6. seeing how our games predominant categorical leader is taking a noble break to pursue his medical degree i felt it would be a good time to reflect on pnw's best member so we can properly appreciate him. out of his 41 total posts - which one is your favorite? this is a tough one for me but i really like the following 1) https://politicsandwar.com/forums/index.php?/topic/6465-cornerstone-announcement/?p=105737 2) https://politicsandwar.com/forums/index.php?/topic/13452-cornerstone-announcement/?p=250401 3) https://politicsandwar.com/forums/index.php?/topic/19050-war-rumors/?p=317313 4) https://politicsandwar.com/forums/index.php?/topic/10049-a-little-fun-on-the-way-out/?p=179733 5) https://politicsandwar.com/forums/index.php?/topic/8269-cornerstone-declaration/?p=136905 comment below and let me know! dont forget to hit that like button and make sure to subscribe for more great youtube content! 7. less and more studying!!!!!!!! vacation mode (henceforth known as study mode) isn't for posting on the forums all day!!! come on man that time you spent posting again could be the difference between a and a with your exams!
  8. yes i agree. RL is more important. and for LPS RL has become much more important (with the exception of 1 war) just a day or two before every major war. tough luck that guy must have always building but can never seem to get any war action in. also LPS man you should be studying. the time it took you to make that post (see also: the time it would take to make any sort of in game action) will probably make or break your 3rd year exams so hit the books we're all counting on you!

  10. whenever i run '10629' it returns the following error The coordinates or dimensions of the range are invalid. which is a bummer since im really interested in seeing how this produces results for (var i = 0; i < max; i += 1) { var chosen = choices[Math.random() * choices.length | 0]; build[chosen] += 1; i think youre on another level of coding skill than myself so could you explain to me the logic behind this is? it's not coming together in my mind how this would create an optimal suggestion
  11. in all fairness it is called the 'optimizer' and not 'an income of some sorter'
  12. because you'll still be faced with the same question of what is the most economical setup with your wartime setup and your peacetime setup depending on your infra, land, bonus, and number of military slots used. i agree it is really good - but where i do most of my developing google drive is blocked unfortunately
  13. Did you follow step 2 correctly?
  14. https://www.dropbox.com/s/k0npuud4zo7oqgv/CitySetup7.xlsm?dl=0 for those that weren't aware I had a city optimizer online awhile ago that would attempt to give you your ideal city build. It was largely solid with exception of a few minor things (like hospitals overpowering recycling centers in an illogical way). I got hit with many requests / clarifications once it got out and it was a bit of a hassle so i took it down. this led to even more requests for builds in a way that it didn't really support it. i wasn't happy how i left it (and i still wanted a good working one for myself) so i built this. i finally fixed the hospital bug (it wasn't a bug it was an issue with the logic - but i digress) and added a lot better power facility control. it will require windows excel. im not sure how far back the compatibility goes so you will have to basically try it and see if you want to use it. i've tried to design it to be as simple as possible so i dont have to field endless requests. here is how it works. step 1) enable all macros step 2) enter your city ID (CITY - NOT NATION) in the designated box step 3) hit the import from pnw button (scraping resource prices can take longer than it should - did alex put in flood control?) - this will import all the city improvements, data, and project information step 4) it will ask you the number of military improvements you want to use. it defaults to what you currently have step 5) it will ask you what land you want to calculate against. it defaults to what you currently have step 6) wait for it run through all of the build levels. it will go from 100 to 4700 infrastructure. - i did it this way because i was getting tons of requests on, whats the optimal build at 2k, 2100, 2200 etc. this way you can have a nice big table to latch onto step 7) it will ask you if you want to calculate your earnings for all of the cities associated with the nation belonging to this city id. it only takes a few seconds. i think it's worth doing how to interpret it 1) in row 3 it will calculate your total earnings for your current imported build at O3. it breaks it down into cash and and resource value next to it 2) it will find your 'ideal' build in row 53. it will highlight the changes you need to make to get to ideal -range d39:e43 has the cost analysis to make these changes 3) it will find your 'ideal' build in row 54 with an additional 100 infrastructure from your imported city 4) it will find your 'ideal' build in row 55 with an additional 200 infrastructure from your imported city -range d46:e55 will have the cost analysis for the +100 infra build, +200 infra build, and your next city that is built exactly like the one you imported (with ROI). use this for 'what should i build next' type questions if you are purely econ focused as an example i took to first city from LPS and ran it. this is what it came up with this city is currently making a total of 1.65M a day. however if the city were to be adjusted where 1 nuclear power plant was destroyed, 6 wind mills built, and 1 hospital destroyed it would earn an addition 9,500 per day. it would cost -586k (meaning he gets a refund) which pays for itself in -60 days (instantly) to build his 26th city exactly like the one i imported, it would cost 660M and take 116days to pay for itself. to build another 100 infrastructure with ideal improvements it would cost 10.4M and take 4900 days to pay for itself. note though that if he were to buy 200 infrastructure the ideal improvements would only take 440 days. this is due to hospitals being ineffective at this level as they produce pollution in themselves. the high population can really make some big swings. if this 9500 increase was realized over his 25 cities he would increase his daily gross earnings from around 35.86M to 36.10M. you better get on that! and to answer it before it is asked - i am not taking this to google drive
  15. it calculates at specific times to reduce server load. primarily when you click on the 'revenue' screen. so if there were some mistake offers like 10000000 per food, the average would spike way up during that instance. this person checked their revenue at this time. someone quickly bought up or cancelled this mistake trade offer so nobody else happened to get the good gdp spike.

  17. ive spoken about this at length in caecus' blogs you can read the original text there. the really short answer - i accomplished what i wanted so i can easily call it a success the slightly longer answer - i wanted to merge into test but keep the sparta gang together (my agenda). i also wanted to weed out all the pixel huggers that had joined sparta (also my agenda) jim wasn't on board with test originally so i had to cause a bit of disruption to make him more accepting of that idea. this was a successful first step into disrupting sparta enough to make that move a much more viable option. it shook out all the war fearing people as they fled to places like TFP and pantheon, and we ultimately merged into test and had a great bit of fun during the height of that time. so in the context of my agenda - it was a success. im sorry if my world doesnt revolve around the health of alpha but if you look at the results of that move in a vacuum and compare it with the direction of where i wanted to move sparta it's pretty easy to see that pushed the alliance very far in that direction. sparta was undoubtedly better after this move. we went from an insignificant alliance that was disorganized and without any real punch aside from the nuke heavy strategy i created which more or less guarantees a draw into a major portion of an alliance that literally half the game joined forces to take us down after our 4 or 5 month reign of terror in which we pretty much did whatever we want. we transformed from afterthought into the giant elephant in the room. and when i refer to sparta i refer to the members that were able to weather 'the drill'. even though we dont have 'sparta' as our branded alliance we are all closer than ever now. sparta still lives - we dont need the name to survive. and in my opinion sparta is without a doubt much better now than before
  18. If calling me a poor leader makes you feel better that you need a better alliance to protect you than go ahead and call me a poor leader
  19. If poking fun of a game move I purposefully and successfully did to achieve my agenda helps you cope with the fact your only move gob has done is immediately seek protection from a better alliance so you can 'take care of your own' then by all means poke fun at something that happened 9 months ago.
  20. if calling me salty helps you cope with the fact your strategy to 'take care of your own' was to immediately go to a better alliance and ask for protection and stay there for more than 4 months (and counting) than by all means call me salty
  21. you make a good point. perhaps test should have held on to a protector despite claiming to be an elite alliance that can take care of themselves
  22. https://politicsandwar.com/forums/index.php?/topic/18235-post-war-mechanics-discussion/?p=304320 it's not like we don't know about the fortify/nuke tactic in the current system.i pointed this out weeks ago in point 3 of this post. i also used it in this war https://politicsandwar.com/nation/war/timeline/war=183433 the prohibitive variable in all of this is cash to buy the nuke. now that ground attacks dont beige your opponent it is easy to keep people on blockade and below the 1.75m needed to buy it. there are ways to deal with this issue though on an individual level. some much easier than others and would work with a relatively small group. it would be more difficult to arrange this on a larger alliance wide level though
  23. im sorry our performance against your entire sphere wasn't up to your competitive liking
