  1. Spain is a very different country to that that existed in the times of Al Andalus. The Moors had very different opponents. Spain is far less likely to fall.
  2. I have never had anything to do with Lord Balian, but man you must be a tough cookie, being a hospice worker is hard at the best of times - but doing that job knowing that you are likely to be on the the other end must be incredibly hard. Your story is inspirational and deserves the utmost respect. I will be praying for you and your family, may you know the peace and love of Jesus(I assume you are a Christian from your message) that surpasses all understanding, that your heart and mind should be at peace. I have no words strong enough to condemn people who would bully such a person.
  3. Bullshit and you know it. Mandela and the Irish Militants weren't and aren't Muslim
  4. Percieved freedom I think would be a better way of putting it. The Bolsheviks were supposedly bringing freedom yet their regime was just as stifling as the Tsar's regime. Freedom fighter is usually a term bandied around by those in charge.
  5. "One man's freedom fighter is another man's terrorist" to quote the classic cliche. If you want to be cynical the Freedom Fighter is often the terrorist who won, that said Freedom Fighters don't necessarily use terrorist tactics. The farmers of Llangyndeyrn didn't use force of arms to fight for their homeland, more force of charecter. At the end of Lord of the Rings you get the fantastic chapter called "scouring of the Shire" in which Frodo and the other hobbits put what they have learnt to good use. Frodo has this to say about fighting for the freedom of the Shire "Nobody is to be killed at all if it can be helped. Keep your tempers and hold your hands to the last possible moment". I think this is at the heart of the freedom movement ideal, violence should always be the last resort - this is something that Nelson Mandela states in his book "the long road to freedom".
  6. Is the alliance based around the musical and should we all be writing in a scouse accent?
  7. Why do you say that? I think Eric's approach is bang on the money. People don't revel against something they feel part of.
  8. Alas we all know this. I was trying to give him the opportunity to deny the charge and get himself out of a whole heap of trouble. I know that's wishful thinking but one can always try and help people.
  9. I'm very depressed, brain the size of a planet....
  10. Straight into the ground doesn't take much skill, to be honest. Saudi Arabia and Saudi Arabians have poured a lot of money into ISIS, shame it isn't really working. ISIS have definitely lost ground and everyone knows it. Quit defending the indefensible Where are these Rockets and drones? What proof do we have that the Thugs have these weapons? Also anyone can buy a drone and attach a camera to it and use it for reconnaissance, it's not hard you know..... Your thugs would be dead already if it were not for their fundraisers in Saudi Arabia.....quit beating your gums, it's not clever. So they are the true followers of Islam? Should I strive to practice as they do? Do you have the balls to answer this Ibrahim, or should we continue to take your silence as an affirmative?
  11. I hate to be pedantic, but Australia has many animals that will kill you. I would much rather live in New Zealand for this reason, controversial I know!
  12. I wonder what France's crime stats are like? I am sure that similar to Britain there is very little difference. Germany has had a big immigrant population for a long time and it hasn't been treated very well. Most terrorist attacks are perpetrated by long term residents disenfranchised. Jesus' antics in the Garden of Gethsemene kinda totally destroy your argument. Especially his comments about living by the sword. Also his comments on turning the other cheek. Jesus doesn't promote rebellion against the state, in fact quite the reverse.
  13. I guess this debate is over realistically on this forum
  14. The more I read from Americans on this board the more I understand how the stereotypes about Americans came to be. I thought you actually had common sense and weren't a nutjob until the case of fire-arms came up. It's sad to be proved wrong, but hey....... You are just showing why most of the world despises America, the f**k you attitude and all. I can't wait till the USAF leaves it's bases in the UK.
  15. God is pro-guns? That's news to me, certainly in the case of the the Christian God.....oh and I am neither liberal or atheist.....
  16. I have seen some pretty idiotic posts on these forums, but I think this takes the biscuit......
  17. I wasn't sure where you were standing on my previous comments and that clarifies it nicely, thank you
  18. I don't own a TV and I don't like cheeseburgers! I own a car because it would take me an awful long time to get around the country, it isn't something I have a right to. Most of the things I own have a purpose that makes my life easier. But here is my point I don't demand that I am able to buy a firearm because it is my right. I know that under UK modern law it isn't since the law has been amended since 1689, surely the fact that Americans treat the 2nd Amendment as unchangeable is more than slightly ironic? Surely the world has changed since then, we don't use flintlocks for the majority of our weaponry. Come on folks, when people are needlessly dying something needs to change. Firearms "rights" are infringing on the right of people to live, that is a right that has more power the the right to supposedly "defend" yourself, most gun shots by criminals are fatal and unexpected and unable to be defended against. It saddens me that when Obama actually tries to reduce deaths in the USA he is slammed for it. What is the man supposed to do? I have said it before and I will say it again, it is much harder to kill someone when guns are not involved. How many young children in the US are inadvertently murderers? Compare this with Europe and we see an interesting correlation. I am no expert on the US, I have friends who live out there and so I find it interesting and I find some of what y'all post here baffling. Sorry if this post is rambling,
  19. As a British land manager, to me this doesn't make sense. If I am using fire to improve ground I make sure it is always under my control, if it is able to go onto someone else's land it obviously isn't under control. If I don't have permission to burn someone else's land that would be classed as criminal damage and arson, if intent could be proved, and negligence if not. Uncontrolled fires are a big no-no in land management.
  20. What are you (Americans mostly) opinions on Obama's actions and the action of the Bundy Militia?
  21. Fair enough. I tend towards cynicism at the best of times. The sources you provide are reputable.
  22. If this is true one thing has to be said, the US have really good skills when it comes to bombing.
