  1. Rapmanej: "This is the most toxic game I've ever seen"
  2. Alex paid for advertisements and increased player recruitment avenues. This works because average per player monetization is very high, but player retention is still extremely low.
  3. https://theoatmeal.com/comics/literally
  4. IIRC Rapmanej dragged out a now 10 year old audio recording regarding another game while Roquentin was having an adverse reaction to drugs prescribed by his doctor and Rapmanej edited it out of context, so yeah. Otherwise, won't comment on this anymore.
  5. Congrats on freedom. What I worry about is that 20 years later, someone will find out you played a game called Politics and War which had fascist problems and use it against you politically.
  6. Seizures yet? Glorious, glorious hallucinations? How about some metastasis?
  7. I've mentioned elsewhere that if Winchell didn't live where he did, he'd have been ostracized because the game is incredibly alt-right (at this moment). Welcome to Orbis.
  8. God, this is even worse of a trainwreck than the war script discussion on Rose's DoW. At least my trainwreck has useful military advice for how to counter fast players / war scripters.
  9. Just to be clearer about this, Xavier, I'll put it out in bullet points: -The response to Mayor was a list of counter-tactics to deal with fast players. -Some guy who was in TGH, then was fighting for Pantheon claimed he was using TGH's war script. -This war script was not a fully automated system, thus probably legal, because it did not make attacks on behalf of the player, but merely facilitated them to minimize the amount of time needed, so that all they'd need to do is click a button on the PnW website, with all the forms filled out. To the best of my knowledge, it was a plug-in that caused a redirect on the notification. -I don't actually care that much about the war script because as long as it's not fully automated, the counter-tactics I've listed beat war scripts most of the time. As long as you have a man in the loop, the attacker is usually going to be faster. -Where war scripts matter are is when we ask: "is this guy outrageously fast / probably using a war script?" "Is this alliance suspected of using a war script?" If the answer to either of these question is yes, we drag out the anti-war script tactics and we still get in the first strike. It's just that anti-war script tactics are almost as painful as using a war script itself, so you don't want to use it unless you absolutely suspect the counterparty is using it. Example: "GOONS: Hey, Inst, we're going to hit Sentient War Bot again. Do you still have that direct link to ground attacks / air attacks / naval attacks so I can shave 2-3 seconds off my attack time? Inst: Jesus, you can just get it from your PnW Wars Page, you know. But here, here's the set of links so you can preempt Sentient War Bot. Remember to check conflicts so you know what the war number of the war you're about to declare likely is going to be. Once you have that number, put it into your link, declare, and hit F5 until you can click the attack button."
  10. It's a script that calls up the relevant war page and makes it so the player only requires to move their mouse to the button and presto, fast counter. When I found out about it, I was neither approving nor disapproving (Pantheon colleague when NR was hitting, so it was a desperate war), but I did ask around about it, and apparently it was known about and judged legal due to man-in-the-loop (don't quote me on this, if you want to try it, call Alex and get permission). Since TGH was with KT in KETOG, when we saw fast responses, the immediate conclusion was that TGH was sharing the war script with KT. But it didn't matter, because to the best of our knowledge it was legal, we simply came up with counter tactics that worked. My response to Kurdanak was simply a possible explanation of why KT was so fast. As long as there's a man in the loop, I'd say you have a 50/50 chance of beating it with war screen refresh, and if it's not in a blitz, you'd probably have a 90% chance with prediction / attack, higher if you're doing GAs instead of airstrikes. If the counter-tactics with predict and war screen refresh fail reliably, across multiple connections and computer speeds, someone is probably using fully automated war scripts, which is decidedly illegal. So what's the problem here? This might be annoying for personal egos, but for people handling operations getting preempted isn't a big deal (most of the time), and there's known countertactics for it. I recall distinctly that we were passing around links to shave 3 seconds off our attack speed using predict / attack tactics, and that was interesting and fun.
  11. Contribution to report: "Adolf Nazikerz"; well, the first name is innocuous in itself (Adolf used to be a common German name), but the last name is suspicious. Kerz in German is apparently "candle". "Kurz" is "short". Not sure how the conjugation of !@#$ and kerz might work in German, however. Nazikurz, on the other hand, is a Twitter hashtag attacking Austrian Chancellor Sebastian Kurz. Still, he chose e, not u, so that's not a good excuse.
  12. All happened years ago, when Roquentin (he's not banned anymore, but has vanished) ended up being used as a scapegoat by an organization (in another game) some TKR founders were apart of, as well as subject to out-of-game harassment (I forget whether the respective TKR members ever apologized for that, although officially they were against that particular set of actions). In another game, apparently, the particular person supposedly spent his time using his political influence to sideline some of the TKR founders. In this game, it was perceived that the party involved was getting back at him by sidelining and neutralizing him.
  13. On the attack: declare, war screen f5 then move to intended attack type once the war pops up. On the defense: war screen f5 then move to GA etc. You can do it in a slightly faster way by: https://politicsandwar.com/nation/war/groundbattle/war=* https://politicsandwar.com/nation/war/airstrike/war=* https://politicsandwar.com/nation/war/navalbattle/war=* and monitoring conflicts to get the anticipated number(s) in multiple tabs, but this fails when you're getting blitzed or lots of declares are going through. It's more useful on the offensive when the decs are yours and you can predict what your declared war number is going to be, then f5 / enter it. ==== Someone leaked to me that a certain alliance (not KT in this case) WAS using war scripts for rapid response, in which case you'd have a monitor on for conflicts on rapid refresh which would automatically perform the process stated above. AFAIK that'd be grey area because the script is not manually inputting the attack for you, it's only directing you to the attack page. (However, I'd suggest you check with Alex to see if such a thing is legal if you want to automate it. If it's not, there are "manual" techniques available that can't ensure 2000 ms response times on the defense, and that'd permit detection of scripting). Re: KT itself, KT may have such a capability, but they weren't using it this war given the delayed responses in most wars. Even with scripting, fast responses are very stressful to execute. === I'd estimate around 1600 milliseconds to go through the war screens set-up on the attack. The predict / refresh set-up should be about 1000 ms on the attack if your computer loads quickly and wars aren't being declared constantly. The predict / refresh set-up will give you no warning if someone jams your predicted war number, since it'll only issue "This war doesn't exist" messages if the war is not extant OR if someone else squats your war number. I think we (as in OD) WERE using ultra-rapid attacks in engaging KT etc. Airstrike tanks / dogfight might take another 800 ms due to the need to go through the combo box, if you're not using script assistance to set the combo box for you. Last Edit: Takes about 3 seconds to do refresh / combo box stuff. Cycle time on f5 click for GA would be 1000-2000 ms. This also implies about 5-6 seconds on the attack with going through the combo box on war screens.
  14. If you sincerely picked up the virus, condolences and best wishes for a speedy recovery without Long COVID.
  15. The guy who leaked such things (and logs are gone) came in from TGH, which was why I was aware of it. Reviewing the first few wars Rose declared on KT, I notice the majority of KT sat there and took it.
  16. Opus Dei. However, I'll point out that we were able to successfully intercept some of their plane suiciders that war, so it's in doubt. There was one player, now in ASM, who was called "sentient war bot" by lower tier fighters.
  17. OD was suspecting that KT etc uses war scripts that automatically direct players to input commands into ground attacks when war notifications (via API or an external refresh script on conflicts) pop up.
  18. It's more interesting on a military level.
  19. Keep posting, namukara. Your posts are treasure. I'll leave it to those in the know to tell you why.
  20. inb4 KT cries of: "It's a dogpile!" start flying again.
  21. WTF literally can't ask ASM for help. One mistake I made earlier was assuming that WTF was actually militarized, when in actuality WTF had around 40-50% tanks at the outset. ASM, likewise, is not sufficiently militarized to intervene immediately, and moreover, ASM is approximately one-fourth of WTF's nominal strength, which is approximately par with KT's nominal strength.
  22. Alternately, you can say you were on both losing sides, since Pantheon was losing up to and including the point where you defected, and then the Pooball scandal broke out and Original BK cleaned up the mess. There was some effective raiding and counter-work being done from Pantheon, but I noted to our side that we were overextended (i.e, no reserves) during the last Pantheon counter-chain. === That said, I'll give props to Pooball (not for the cheating, but for the military tactics). Hitting a meatshield during preliminary wars leading up to a global is usually a terrible idea, and absorbing members from the alliance you're wrecking is usually also a terrible idea (they're fair weather friends), but when you put it together, it actually achieved strategic effect.
  23. When I had rushed the tombstoning, many members refused to find new homes, even when I had indicated that they had no protection and were just raidbait (especially after I set 0/0 taxes). The remaining 10 members (other than Fist) were kicked out when some politics got me to rush the tombstone. One disagreement I have with others is that Pantheon did a fairly good job with the TJest operation at the end of last year. It would have lasted, in a way, unless someone decided to keep it rolled for 2 months or longer. Part of my issue with Pantheon was toxic politics; I think when it truly "jumped the shark" was when Fist (whose nation is the sole remaining member) couped Sphinx and Yui. This resulted in a transition into "one man politics", since Fist overcentralized power, as well as a tradition of coups. Ethos was removed for inactivity (having vanished days before Nova Riata hit), and rawr was removed for inactivity (Six had spread claims that rawr wanted to disband the alliance). At the very end, it had become a fiefdom with many people resenting the power holder (not the alliance leader) and many of the old guard hoping it would just finally die. One of the main reasons for tombstoning Pantheon (and one of the reasons I recoiled at Dusty and Nokia) was because Pantheon's brand had become wholly toxic. For non-Pantheon members, Pantheon was either a joke or a pityhorse, while for Pantheon itself, it became something people idolized, despite its weakness, and a source of emotional attachment demagogues could exploit for mediocre leadership. As an example of the former, one of the (chased out) former government, who was supposed to have had a power-sharing agreement with a former Titan, responded with "lol" at the tombstoning of the alliance and simply wanted me to disband it. As an example of the latter, that former Titan, Dusty, and Nokia all had lines of "make Pantheon great again" and exploited sentimental attachments to the alliance, despite showing relatively incompetent leadership and no clear planning. @Lord Vader Yeah, was originally going to post something on the spot, but didn't have an accessible forums account at the time.
  24. So you have your revenge. What of it? It still doesn't disguise the fact that NR blowing up the way it did crippled TKR-bloc during Surf's Up. And as I mentioned on your Discord, Pantheon was less something that did you in but rather something that sat around and outlasted you. The actual kill-switch was Akuryo, and certain others not in Pantheon. Hence it's actually pretty bad to declare victory in this way; it's like declaring victory when the car company that produced the vehicle for the drive-by that did you in went under.
  25. There was an agreement to put up a NR flag for like 24-48 hours. That got changed to some kind of NR meme, and then the NR meme was taken down after pressure / breakdown of relationship with the secondary coup. In either case, I'm quite happy that this kind of bashing occurred; I was not fond of NR's operation nor the fact that it apparently operated an infinite cash glitch for months without being detected. I got to keep my deal (to some extent) as well as to watch it backfire on NR. NR is NR; we might disagree on GPWC's generation, but to the best of my knowledge they were the biggest exploiters to date. @Charles Bolivar Double coup, which was decidedly unadvised, unless if you were planning to kill the thing, then a negotiated settlement to buy the thing out. While I was pretty much on board with killing the alliance off once it was obvious the second coup was lethal (neither Epimetheus nor myself had the clout with the government members to keep it functioning, and somehow Epi's promises of protectorates to provide stability fell through), I was not fond of how it was killed off. The members should have been let in on what had happened, as well as be given options (as opposed to bullshit, some of which I had provided) as to what to do with Pantheon being tombstoned. Many people who were in Pantheon at the time of the coup left for Brotherhood Family, to something like a 34-member alliance (it's now 57). To some extent, I wonder if it was a negotiated killing; i.e, people were tired of the Pantheon brand name, and Dusty was given charge from Kosove / Six knowing full well what would have happened. BroFam was given top billing once I had authorization to tell people that the "show's over".
