I'm not defending EM's actions. That has nothing to do with this. I chewed him out in our members channel for participating in this stupid scheme. My post here is not about whether or not EM did a bad (he unequivocally did), it's about this stupid virtue signaling thread.

I feel this is too much interference in the game and negatively affects things. Yeah, it sucks, people loaned to NPO/BK/GotG and didn't expect them to mass delete (which was of their own accord). But that's a risk they should have calculated into their loans. And if they placed a bad bet, that's just how it's gotta roll. This level of admin interference into gameplay decisions and consequences is dangerous. What happened with NPO/BK/GoG was a Black Swan Event. Black Swans do happen, and those issuing loans should either take that into account, or if they don't, be left to fail as a lesson to others. The game administration should not be a safety net for that.

I am honestly shocked, though, at how fast NPO has been willing to burn every last shred of credibility and respect as an organization as a whole. This is something that reaches well beyond just this one game. This is something that is going to haunt their organization for the rest of time, because their reaction to these events was so poor.

It doesn't have to, but for malicious leaders acting against the interests of the members under their charge. If this is NPO's cute little moral victory, to make the rest of Orbis sad at losing a community, then congrats. You got us, we're sad about it. The real-world malice, hate, and toxicity that NPO has exhibited for months now is disturbing.

Well, as far as I can tell, the PnW community is still here, despite the best efforts of some terrible leaders to sabotage the game by encouraging players to quit. I don't think the community is going anywhere, and I am sad that those players were duped into deleting.

Nobody is happy to see the BK membership or the alliance itself leave. Thrilled that the trash leadership is leaving, rather sad that they've decided to lie to their rank and file to get the entire alliance to quit with them. Leadership isn't operating in the interests of their members and now BK is gone because of it. They built a little cult of personality for themselves and abused their position to hurt players under their care. It's miserable to watch it play out between BK and GotG both. Acadia as well. Those leaders failed their memberships, and no blame can be thrust upon our side, as we offered all of them totally unconditional white peace.

Invading the privacy wrongfully would be if Alex hacked discord to view things he wasn't masked to view. Not if he just went up to you and asked and you gave him a mask. Good lord. There is no straw NPO won't grasp at.

I can't think of many who are happy to see BK dead. We are angry at your leaders for failing you completely. The fault for BK's death lies entirely with your awful leadership, and we have nothing but compassion and sympathy for the rank-and-file who were led down this path, including those leaders occupying the AA so that members cannot revive the alliance. Please relay to your fellow members that we are saddened by these events and that we hope that most of them would reconsider leaving the game - we don't hate the membership. Re-forming your alliance and community away from your toxic leadership may be a good idea.

The only wrong was committed by NPO. Alex did not hack his way into discord servers, he was welcomed in, just that you didn't know who he was when you welcomed him in. This is the most laughable and pathetic excuse from NPO yet. This isn't a US court, the notion of "tainted evidence" does not apply here, and this wouldn't even be "tainted evidence" in a US court, as the discord was essentially public, NPO provided no notice that Alex wasn't welcome, and Alex was under no obligation to identify himself.

It does not break down. Political games like this often extend well beyond the official websites. Alliances always build off-site communication channels, Discord being the latest iteration therein. It is entirely dependent on whether the Discord bot in your argument is being used to conduct alliance affairs, or if it is being used for something wholly external.

Unless the bot is for something that has nothing to do with PnW, then this argument is absurd. Can you point to a bot that isn't related to PnW or an alliance with a PnW presence? That's really the determining factor here, is the transaction with a party who actually wants to be playing PnW, versus a party that is only logging in because they want access to a non-related good, such as a comic translation. If you can point to a bot being sold for, say, a Call of Duty server or some shit, then you have a valid argument.

Yikes. That's the sort of mentality of someone who is more interested in maintaining a cult of personality, than in doing what is best for their alliance membership. I do feel genuinely bad for the rank and file of BK, GotG, and everyone else who were fed this poisonous attitude. To any rank and file members reading this, know that the wider PnW community does welcome you as individuals, you are not stained with a black mark merely for being a foot soldier of an alliance we've been fighting.
