  5. The Lands of Duat, alliance ID 770, recognizes that Vault 111, alliance ID 4208, is in a brilliant position to dominate the various factions of the Commonwealth at large. With consideration to friendship and guidance, the Lands of Duat enters into an agreement to protect Vault 111 and its inhabitants. Article I; Aid and Intelligence: The Lands of Duat agrees to provide reasonable economical support to Vault 111 to ensure that the latter is capable of not drawing unwanted attention to themselves. Beyond that, economic cooperation is strongly encouraged and advised. Any intelligence pertinent to the other alliance will be shared as soon as said information is obtained. There cannot be a delay. Article II; Protection: An attack on Vault 111 constitutes as an attack on the Lands of Duat. The Lands of Duat fully commits itself to support and defend Vault 111 through any means at our disposal. In the case where the Land of Confusion is attacked, Vault 111 is expected to stay out of the way, keep their heads down, and not draw any unwanted attention to themselves. Article III; Aggression and Raiding: Should the Lands of Duat need to declare war on another alliance, Vault 111 will be alerted and advised to keep their heads down and draw as little attention to themselves as possible. Vault 111 agrees not to declare war on any other alliance, and further agrees to prohibit any of its members from raiding or warring, without the explicit consent and approval of the protector. Should a member of Vault 111 conduct raiding or warring without the required consent from the Lands of Duat, that member will be ejected from Vault 111 immediately and without any possible delay, and Vault 111 will immediately alert the Lands of Duat so that they can provide all necessary intervention, at their discretion. Article IV; Additional Restrictions and Terms Applied to Vault 111 The Lands of Duat recognizes that Vault 111 has struggled with perception and risk management. To alleviate and mitigate these problems, Vault 111 agrees to the following additional terms. These terms are intrusive, by design. Vault 111 has a history of instability, so by enforcing these, the expectation is a significant increase in stability and overall health and wellbeing of the alliance. a. No member of Vault 111 will be allowed to make any statements, posts, threads, or content otherwise on the global forums. An explicit exemption is made for Catsby to post in the National RP section so long as those posts do not in any way reference non-RP aspects. b. No member of Vault 111 is permitted to borrow any money from any lending institution, alliance, or player not a part of Vault 111 or the Lands of Duat. The alliance is not permitted to borrow funds from any lending institution, alliance, or player not part of Vault 111 or the Lands of Duat. An explicit exemption may be made with the consent and authorization from the Lands of Duat. c. Vault 111 agrees not to sign any treaties or agreements with any other alliance or entities without the consent and authorization from the Lands of Duat. d. The Lands of Duat retains veto powers on all government appointments to Vault 111. Furthermore, Vault 111 agrees to take under strong advisement any recommendations to government. e. Vault 111 agrees to make available to the Lands of Duat at all times, all bank records, the bank's balance, any announcements, and further agrees to provide all members of the Lands of Duat full access to their Discord server, and if applicable Forums. f. Vault 111 and the Lands of Duat agree that Vault 111's members who are inactive for more than 7 days ("purple nations") are not deserving of protection, and any raids conducted against those members will be ignored, so long as any loot taken from the bank is returned to the alliance by the raiding nation. Article V; Previous Liabilities: Any debts incurred by Vault 111 prior to the signing of this treaty are personally guaranteed equally by Catsby (nation id 63658), Yeeter bud (nation id 63627, aka Connor Yeets), Whiskers (nation id 58160, aka Furby Island), and Tbomb (nation id 52102). In the event that the alliance defaults on these debts, or in the event that the alliance disbands, these individuals will personally assume the responsibility for paying any of the remaining portion of that debt. In the event that one or more of these individuals leaves the game, the remaining nations are not excused any portion of responsibility. This agreement will survive invocation of Article VI. In the event of dissolution of this treaty, this personal guarantee of debt does not disappear. In the event that Vault 111 merges or folds into another alliance, the new alliance agrees to continue and honor this agreement, and to assume payment of any remaining debts. Article VI; Changes: In the event that either of the aforementioned alliances change their names or undergo any changes that do not alter the alliance ID, this treaty will follow automatically. In the event that either alliance chooses to end the relationship, they must notify the other privately. Upon receipt of that notice, for the next 240 turns, the treaty will remain in full effect.   7. Policy is moot as their score (5k+) exceeds their alliance id (4203). It's an MDAP. edit: although if you have "Vassal"​ as an option I imagine most people would recommend that.
  8. Before I address all of this, I want to clarify that while I do have a say in how things are run, I'm operating primarily as an investor. 1. You could absolutely buy a bond from Stratton. They're offering 3%. Ruby was/is also doing 3%. Last I knew, Black Diamond Trust was doing 3.5%. Davos Iron Bank does 3 or 4% depending on who you are and how much you're dropping onto them. That said, I know personally I'm a huge fan of diversifying. Sure, I could put all my eggs in the Stratton basket, but what if the worst happens? Diversification will help reduce overall risks. 2. You're absolutely right that the withdrawal wouldn't be processed until after one month. This one-month delay exists to maintain the integrity of the company. Think of it like this. If you invest $100m cash, and it gets turned into resources. Then another guy invests $50m. It also gets turned into resources. A week or so later, that guy gets his money back. Very good chance the entire company just took a hit trying to offload those resources to get him his cash. By requiring a one-month delay, you can be assured that we're actually being mindful of your investment. Overall, it's a positive as I see it. Sure you have to plan ahead for your cash, but isn't that good sense anyway? 3. I've dropped cash on this as an owner, and then I also had Cyberdyne invest as well. You're right, this is a newer venture, so obviously there's a certain level of risk involved. You cited Stratton as an example, so I'll reference them. When SO first started out, it was an uphill battle. People were very skeptical. Over time, and as people took chances and invested with them, the global community came to accept and respect the institution. Now banks are all the rage. I'm not saying that's what is going to happen here. I'm just saying that this is something that people can​ invest in, and I have every faith in it's success.

  18. I think having approval ratings do something would be awesome, but maybe not /just/ the approval rating? Maybe something like: If all conditions are true, 0.001% chance of civil war triggered on player's login - ​Approval is below 20% - No civil war in the past 60 days - Military score is either more than 80% of total score OR less than 20% of total score If civil war is triggered, the "rebels" do one ground-only attack every other turn using 50-250% of nation's ground strength. Beyond that, it follows standard war protocol, except you're essentially using your own military to destroy your own nation & its rebel faction. Maybe instead of using a fortify function, you could implement a "Crack-down" function that would reduce the rebels resistance by between 5-15 each use.
