Hagbard Celine
I did a rough comparison of the average price for Uranium in the ticker/scroll, and I'm not sure I understand how the average is calculated (I chose uranium because of the low number of trades). Caveat: - it is possible that the value is cached, or is based on a previous day's transaction, or is in some other not a realtime reflection. If so, then so be it and I'm completely mistaken. - it's also possible that the average price is based on successful transactions, not on listings. Anyhow, what I'm seeing is that the ticker is showing an average price of ~$2,900, while by my calculation it's closer to ~$1,875. I calculate my average by: 1. multiplying the asking price of each offer by the number of units offered (the total value of the offer) 2. summing the total values and dividing by the number of resource units that are available on the market (this prevents small orders from artificially skewing the average). Am I smoking crack? S anyhow, the suggestion is that if the above formula is not being used then it should be. SoS
I believe the way it works is the price moves per 1,000 units sold - actually sold. Only on the global market. I think any way other than the way it is would lead to disparity. It's definitely not perfect, but basing it on something other than completed sales would be trouble, IMO. I think the average price was never reset from SR.

Administrators Alex Posted August 26, 2014 Administrators Share Posted August 26, 2014 I thought Sheepy raised it to 5000/10000 after the uh, stuff, that happened back in April/May. This is correct. When we went from the speed round to live, I didn't reset the average prices, but I removed the market restrictions so you can price things however you like. It is tracked by completed transactions, though, and has nothing to do with what's on the market currently. Quote Is there a bug? Report It | Not understanding game mechanics?
