  1. Nalydian Relations The lead ship powers forward with clearance from the Mri. It does not take it long to find a suitable anchorage position not terribly far from the Tlaloc, and when it does, the vast and cavernous hangars are revealed to the void and from them a trio of shuttles emerge. These shuttles course through the myriad fabrics of space and time as they set course for the Tlaloc; upon nearing it they circle and land in the appropriate fashion. The Tlaloc's own hangar (understandably) is similarly vast and unremarkable, but its construction is familiar to the Pords. It is good to have friends in verses both near and far. The shuttles touch down with chorus of echoing thwumpfs! and from them are disgorged a single High Hunter and what appears to be a small entourage. The High Hunter is first off the craft though, and - after seeing the others in the entourage - is quick to wave the other Pords back. This meeting does not call for pomp or flair, thus it is only proper that such frivolous things be avoided. The standard-bearers and musicians file back into their shuttles leaving only the High Hunter and her aide. They accept the Mri guide and are soon brought to the meeting chamber with the other waiting guests. This place looks like another shithole, High Hunter Tylaq Balnook tells her aid. These places usually are, Rytek observes. Leave it to the Triskeli to be cryptic when you don't want them to be, she replies. Rytek nods; realizes they are among company. Tylaq turns to the Mri and bows and then does the same with the other leaders assembled. We do appreciate the invitation to come out here today, she says. As per special request I am here to represent the Zhükozh Jloknamän-Rekazhnarän. I do hope that Triskel and the Imperial Nalydian Army can reach an amicable accord, she finishes. Then, turning to the Mri: Admiral Panük sends his regards. His brigade will be maintaining FTLi in this system for until hostilities die down. Never can be too careful among... Tylaq searches for the right word, but none are quick to come to her. savages, she mutters. Tylaq sits.
  2. Nalydian Relations High Hunter Nykat and Admiral nam-Kalzhak stand together on bridge of the admiral's flagship, the Jlokhemit Natynozhskaya type dreadnought VRZ Spear of Amaruq. It stands proudly above Natynozh in the System Natynozh - a locale lightyears distant from the disasters in the Orbis System... It is relatively insulated. That war has come to Mars is not necessarily surprising, but it is rather... Inconvenient, to say the least. Relations between Nalydya and Chernigov have not been the greatest (well, they haven't been the worst either; neither nation is all that chummy); Pordish intervention is being discussed at length, but overall it is not expected that much will occur in the way of combat. A message is relayed back to the home universe detailing the current events, and the High Hunters of the Council voice their trust in the judgement of the Colonial High Hunter Council. Nothing more is relayed to them. It looks like they are surrounded, Nykat notes. He looks at the map; zooms in; shakes his head. I don't imagine they will be able to withstand that siege for very long, the admiral theorizes. It may be wise to adjust our readiness on the off chance the Orbisian tribals go rogue, the admiral tells the High Hunter You are correct, Nykat nods. He opens a line of communications between the VRZ Spear of Amaruq and the VRZ Virulent Altostratus. A small hologram appears before the two Pords: Vice Admiral Chutak Panük fades into existence. Admiral Panük - I am sure you are aware of the rising hostilities in Mars System? You are to take your brigade and form a blockade line between Jupiter and Saturn. Leave a small reserve and begin localized interdiction. The lesser admiral salutes. Tasinehdao nam-Kalzhak, he replies. His hologram disappears and the two Pords on the Spear of Amaruq consider their jobs accomplished. For the most part the various commanders and Pords overseeing the myriad Nalydian holdings in the Orbis System do not need direct orders to realize what has begun and to act accordingly. Across the Pord's claims on Orbis itself, vast Array shielding comes online to shroud the Nalydian lands from preying eyes and unwarranted bombardment. Similarly, the various moon colonies around Neptune and Uranus are brought to a heightened state of alert; shielding here is brought online as well, but in addition to this, localized FTL-interdiction fields flicker to life preventing FTL transit anywhere within a 30 AU sphere from their origin points around the two ice giants. It is but standard procedure - Pords cannot be too careful, especially here in this strange and savage new universe. Thus far though, Nalydian actions have been defensive in nature. The same is not the case with Panük's Brigade. Having already been in-system to take part in the parades and ceremonies commemorating the establishment of the colonial capital, Vice Admiral Panük now turns his attention to readying his vessels for potential combat. As per orders, he leaves a rear-guard (a quintet of Tylaq Balnook type runners) and advances his main battleline towards the Saturnian System; the lead ship, the VRZ Virulent Altostratus, serves as flagship for Panük's Brigade. Behind it flow some eighty superkapital ships of the High Hunter's navy accompanied by their myriad clouds of smaller escorting ships which balloon their number by a factor of five. It will not take them long to arrive between Jupiter and Saturn, and once there they will redirect traffic around the Pordish outer system holdings. Overall, no official statement supporting or condemning the actions on Mars are taken.
  3. Tlaloc 22 A small convoy plies the sickly domain with alacrity, seemingly eager to be within the horrendous and tumultuous energies and putrid particulates of the rift. For them the realm is generous and graces their starving hulls and greedy reactors with with a flood of power. Their shields protect and their systems accept. But the realm does not share in their sentiment and, with much vigor, attempts extermination. Though her attempts are thwarted with vim the convoy is not deaf to the grand hatred of the rift. It soon begins to free itself from the emerald realm; within the System Orbis a rend begins to form. The tear in reality expands and grows and soon it becomes apparent that from it a number of vessels are beginning to emerge - craft still coated with energies and particulates that are slow to divorce themselves from the LNS and Array coatings of the VRZ-vessel exteriors. The convoy is small - perhaps a half dozen transports and freighters (each exceeding no more than thirty kilometers in length: a rather paltry host) escorted by a litany of much smaller rift cruisers which shepherd and guide them. The rear of the formation, however, disgorges a pair of battleships which slide into coherent space-time appropriately and signal to the Tlaloc above Orbis Prime: We request clearance for shuttle landing, the message states curtly. In the void the two vessels, dwarfing moons, set course for the Tlaloc; their massive funnels belch horrendous torrents into the void as their reactors begin to push them through reality and closer to the parent star of the Obis System.
  4. Looks like sign up and map thread are more or less done. I will add a master list to the original post so that people can more easily access links to lore because they can tend to get buried. Other than this, lore threads are up to the RPers to create for their nations so that will be an ongoing process.
  5. Welcome to Organic RP! This is the sign-up thread for those wishing to participate. Orbis IV Application: Full Nation Name: Nation Lore Link: Short Summary of National History/Lore: Map Claims: Do you agree to abide by the Organic Ruleset?: (Map-wise, you're limited to a maximum of 25 provinces. If you go higher than that, I'll personally adjust it down until it's at 25, or ask you to re-do your own example until it fits within the 25 province limit. Note that expansion is allowed, but at a maximum of two provinces per month as to be as realistic as possible. This rule applies to nations under 25 provinces as well. Provinces are unable to be moved from one location to another. Gifted land is also capped at two provinces per month. Land gained by a nation as a result of war can be more than this.) (You are required to post at least once a month in the Organic RP subforum to remain active. This means creating your own topic, not just commenting in someone else's posts. 6. I am working on a map thread currently and it should be up within 10-15 minutes.
  7. I can cobble together a Mars map (provinces/hexes/whathaveyou) later today to gauge interest. *edit* This is my first candidate for a Mars map:
  8. Yea - I didn't imagine it would be to terribly different (if at all) from the current world.
  9. Ultimately, when/if it comes down to it I can put together a map for this RP section. I imagine that because of the general theme still being national RP (not necessarily tied to any one tech level - we actually had more than one modern tech nation RPing along with our FT nations back in the day without issue) we will be having a map. I actually have grown quite partial to the idea of using a terraformed mars map as the main place for people to have multiple claims on one planet - it's still relatively close enough to Orbis/Earth that even MT people can stay in touch without having to worry about conflicting claims and it can also be good for FT people as well. Just some food for thought - I'd like to see what everyone else thinks as well. Other than that, it looks fine.
  10. Really depends on what people what, I assume. It might actually be prudent to use a map of a planet other than Orbis/Earth (terraformed Mars, maybe? Something else entirely?) so that we don't need to worry about conflicting claims at all and still allow people to interact with Orbisians... Up to general consensus, really.
  11. Bolshoi of the Seven: Act II Grazhni Yamsi, Oberon The massive ring-gate between the orbits of Neptune and Uranus are graced with the presence of a small detachment of VRZ warships; leading the pack is a respectably small Yamsi Natynozh type rift cruiser. Following on its heels are the much larger bulks of two lumbering nam-Kyzhaq type monitors and their vast clouds of escorting and attendant warships. They move in concert and are soon arrived over Uranus. Behind them lagging by some twenty minutes are sixteen capital ships: Chorzhalb Zhyssian types and Grazhni Yamsai types - two battleship wings that are part of Admiral nam-Kalzhak's Division. They have been painted with Amaterasu Campaign camouflage and travel in very loose order; between the major components are tens of thousands of kilometers of mostly empty space (between the capital ships, at least. The sixteen ships are themselves accompanied by, in standard Nalydian fashion, a vast array of smaller ships which orbit the larger ones at very close distance). Glad to see this colony is progressing at a good rate, Admiral Klovnazh Kazhanye says. He is sat with the members of the Colony Natynozh High Hunter Council at their primary meeting table inside of the Grazhni Yamsi Palatial Villa. He is the highest ranking VRZ officer to visit Colony Natynozh since it was established; his presence is proof they have succeeded in crafting a viable colony. With Kazhanye are many members of the Colonial VRZ and ZJR, including his subordinate and divisional commander Admiral nam-Kalzhak. Admiral nam-Kalzhak nods. The High Hunters have done a good job of overseeing its establishment, Admiral. Fortunately, we haven't had much in the way of complications here. The locals seem to be rather primitive. Kazhanye chuckles. He had been the commanders of the first major Pordish assault against Kira's Kingdom back during the Barlat-Laptev War. Kazhanye, along with detachments from nearly half a dozen other Laptev powers, penetrated into the outer Kiran defenses a few light-years away from their capital system of Amaterasu but were eventually beaten back by the volume of defensive fire visited upon them. To this day he still regrets the decision to withdraw, but there was little that could have been done about it then. None of the fleets present were in a position to conduct a long, protracted siege - not with the resource sinks that the other theatres were rapidly becoming; tens of thousands of Pords died in the interdiction fields and nothing had been accomplished. We will be beginning soon, Kazhanye notes, but that is good to hear. I assume then that you won't be needing the assistance of any other divisions? No, Admiral, I don't think that will be necessary, nam-Kalzhak replies. Just as well. Murdoch isn't the biggest supporter of our transuniversal foray in this realm. I don't blame him, Nykat replies. Of course, in High Admiral Murdoch's defense, the majority of other realms the Pords have stumbled across have not been the most stable or amenable to long term habitation. consequently, they (more often than not) end up serving only as bottomless holes in which his warships get sucked with little benefit in return. The most spectacular of these failures was the Yamsai'an colony in the BB-1 universe which ended up swallowing an entire fleet when the universe disappeared from the multiverse. Following the loss of contact with them, Murdoch refused to speak with the Yamsai'an Hunters for nearly a year. But that is neither here nor now. At the head of the table High Hunter Nykat stands: We are gathered here today to mark and celebrate a momentous occasion, the High Hunter begins. We have been afforded the opportunity through the grace of the Winter-Bringer himself to establish here on this chilly Uranian moon a capital city in the honour of the late Hunter-General Yamsi Natynozh. This would not have been possible without the hard work that High Hunters nam-Talzhyn, Kolytaq, Kalanoq and myself have put forth in overseeing the coordination of space and ground assets. Outside, the loud boom! of heavy artillery can be heard as large pieces bark in rapid and coordinated succession - twelve total - effectively beginning the celebration. Nykat pauses to allow them to pass, and then continues: As part of our celebration, the ZJR and VRZ have prepared displays for us to begin our festivities. These will be recorded and broadcast to the greater nation for their viewing. Following their completion, we will return here for food and then discuss the more intricate details and ramifications of having our capital here. He motions to the door; the various Hunters and officials stand and begin moving towards it. If you will excuse me, Admiral, nam-Kalzhak says to his superiour. I will be leading my formations personally. Kazhanye returns nam-Kalzhak's salute. Very well, he says. Along one of the main thoroughfares through the city, a long column of blue-clad infantrymen march with deliberate pace. Their bayonets are fixed and their breastplates are firmly affixed to their torsos. Interspersed within them are vehicles of varying size and role, but they have one trait in common - they all hover yet oddly are still equipped with tracks which appear to splay out to their sides. Thick coats of Pordic Gray paint adorn them and turquoise tridents mark them as ZJR. A few even sport small ZJR flags which fly from small poles. These tiny standards mirror the larger standards carried by the dedicated bearers within the infantry; they march with the colours of Imperial Nalydya, the ZJR, the VRZ, and even the Great House of Natynozh. This infantry-vehicle mixture marks the bulk of the formation, with the composition only changing towards the end: heading up the rear of the formation are Pords riding older Yünak RPCs: Chrühov. These caped light infantry are the last to pass the Palatial Villa and with their passing the column comes to an end. With the completion of the ground portion, in orbit, nam-Kalzhak's warships begin to power up to a full combat footing. Their Arrays link and their energy output surges to ridiculous levels; within moments the two vessel-groupings (each with eight capital ships) become consumed within vast charcoal tinted spheres. The nearest ships pass some five light seconds away from the most distant Uranian moon, Ferdinand. The lead ship in the formation, the VRZ Virulent Altocumulous, a Grazhni Yamsai type dreadnought, is first to begin. It angles its bows and the ships behind her follow her lead. A minute passes. Then the massive blister turrets erupt with a wild cacophony of fire as gargantuan rounds are loosed off into the void at perfect angles relative to Oberon and the sun to allow the dim light to glint perfectly off of the shells (which then artificially boost the intensity) and give them an ethereal glow (as viewed from Oberon) as they streak through the darkness. One salvo is given; the Altocumulous then falls silent only for the next ship in the line to open up. And then the next ship. And the ship after that. High Hunter Nykat watches the Oberon sky light up with artillery fire as nam-Kalzhak's Division unleashes torrents of hate upon the fabrics of space and time. The bright streaks of crimson zoom past the moon and are soon gone off into the distant black. It is a short, if well choreographed display. Thus it comes as no surprise when his communicator beeps to notify him that the orbital section has been completed and it is time to return to the Palatial Villa to begin actual work. Fleshing out all that which a capital needs will not be an easy task, but it is a necessary one, and he is confident that all of the members of the Colony Natynozh High Hunter Council are more than capable of completing it. An impressive display from Admiral nam-Kalzhak, Nykat says to the others with him on the viewing platform. They nod in agreement. Now we have work to do, he says stepping down and towards the entrance. Behind him the others follow.

IC: Greater Nalydian Uranian and Neptunian Territory Grazhni Yamsi, Oberon - Capital of Colony Natynozh The city rises out of the gray-brown Oberonian surface and reaches into the distant void with a practiced air of Pordic certainty. Tall walls surround the metropolis and wide streets carry traffic to and from it but they all converge and surround a single structure located perfectly central: the Oberonian Palatial Villa. Built originally to serve as meeting place for the leadership of the Pords of the Uranian and Neptunian Systems, it now serves as the overall meeting place for all of Colony Natynozh's leadership; with the agreement that the moon is to serve as the capital of the Pordish holdings in the PW-1 universe, its purpose was never in doubt. In orbit a single warship powers away from the moon's gravity well (tweaked to be similar to Nalydya's gravity but only within local vicinity of the moon as to no overly disturb its orbit or the overall Uranian System. All the inhabited moons have similar set-ups, and accompanying them are tiny wisps of atmospheres which be seen flicking through the void...) to take up position at a gravitic quay currently in orbit around Uranus proper; upon docking a shuttle is loosed from its hangar bay and zooms down to Oberon; it lands without issue and from it a number of Pords emerge: High Hunter Nykat and his entourage. High Hunter Nykat walks out onto the tarmac and is greeted by High Hunter Cholnaq nam-Talzhyn, the representative of the Greater Nalydian Uranian and Neptunian Territories. After a number of bows and the usual exchange of greetings and pleasantries, they begin to move away from the spaceport and to the waiting vehicles at the curb... I assume you spoke with the others in Iceland? nam-Talzhyn questions. I did, Nykat answers. After explaining the situation most of them have come to agree with our assessment - that Oberon is the best place to have our capital. nam-Talzhyn nods. I see, the High Hunter says. He steps onto the curb and motions to his aid to prepare the vehicle. I've come to take a look over this city myself, Nykat admits. I've not yet had the opportunity. There's always something that needs to be done, nam-Talzhyn agrees. We've just about completed the city, he continues. There are still a few construction crews around, but mostly they've moved on to work on other towns and cities across Oberon. Nykat steps into the vehicle and looks out at the traffic passing by them. He notes that nam-Talzhyn is correct - they are of the civilian type and the horrendous forms of industrial movers or other such equipment are nowhere to be seen... Mostly. Off in the distance he can still just about make out the shapes of cranes towering above the city walls, but they are the only obvious egregious offenders. This city looks nice. It will serve well as our capital, he says. Take us through the city, nam-Talzhyn says to his aid-now-turned-driver. Tasi, tasinehdao! the aid acquiesces. They pull out and merge into the flow of traffic. Nykat notices the relative smoothness of the road beneath them; most of Nalydya's roads are kept impeccably smooth (they are crafted from ice-bricks, after all), but here these roads have a... New quality that most others cannot match. Even the famed boulevards and avenues of Tnem-Fragg cannot match them. He nods to himself in approval and turns his attention to the buildings rising out of the dirt around him. There isn't much to see here in the spaceport district, nam-Talzhyn says. We aren't far from the Palatial Villa though, he says. Again Nykat nods. The buildings lining the road are of a respectable height - they are all built just shy of one hundred meters and are tier towers; their bases are crafted from large stone slabs while the main structures are formed form ice bricks much like the roads (although these are of a different mixture than the road bricks - the road bricks prioritize traction while those making up the buildings are mixed with strength in mind). The spaceport doesn't seem to be of the highest capacity, High Hunter Nykat notes. nam-Talzhyn shrugs. We do have the orbitals. I don't imagine we'll need a high capacity spaceport here. Might be wise to put some more local gravitic quays around here then, perhaps, Nykat suggests. We might, nam-Talzhyn agrees. The vehicle arrives at the walls surrounding the Palatial Villa complex. Guards atop them carrying rifles (not tridents as found elsewhere, unfortunately) eye them as they near and then with a few flowing movements they bring down the gates to allow them entrance. nam-Talzhyn's aid drives in through the walls and turns to follow the road; the path gives way to a raised thoroughfare built for foot traffic which leads into the main doors of the complex. Here the aid stops and the two High Hunters exit. nam-Talzhyn thanks his aid and he drives off to park the vehicle elsewhere while nam-Talzhyn and High Hunter Nykat distance themselves from the road as they begin to walk towards the Villa proper. We will be having a ceremony here soon commemorating the establishment of our capital here, nam-Talzhyn says. You have it planned already? Of course - I didn't really think your people would disagree to the suggestion. High Hunter Nykat shrugs. Sure. When is the ceremony? In five rotations. It'll be hosted at noon after Nyzhötnu, Nykat's fellow High Hunter says. We plan on having elements of the Colonial ZJR in display as well as elements of nam-Kalzhak's fleet. Nykat raises an eyebrow. nam-Kalzhak actually agreed to participate? He did, nam-Talzhyn says. He moves one leg after the other to ascend the stairs. He said that the vessels could use a stretch. Nykat lowers his eyebrow. How many of his ships will be participating? High Hunter Nykat opens the tall doors and enters the Palatial Villa; he holds the door open for nam-Talzhyn who walks in behind him. A few of his battleships wings, nam-Talzhyn says. He shuts the door and leaves the chilly Oberon air behind him. Nothing too extravagant. It should be a good ceremony then, Nykat says. I look forward to attending. Naturally, nam-Talzhyn agrees. The two move deeper into the Palatial Villa; Nykat reviews the various chambers to ensure that they are ready and prepared to serve the myriad Hunters and High Hunters of Colony Natynozh. Overall he finds himself pleased with the finishings and accouterments. As they move from room to room, he questions nam-Talzhyn on the specifics of the upcoming ceremony and nam-Talzhyn is happy to oblige him with the information. In totality, the review takes some fifteen minutes; by the end High Hunter Nykat is more than pleased and takes his leave. It will soon be time to officially announce to all of Colony Natynozh that a capital has been decided on. With both nam-Kalanoq and High Hunter Kolytaq already having given their approval of the choice, all that remains now is to contact them with the information that everything on High Hunter Nykat's end has been cleared up and that with the majority supporting Oberon's glistening Grazhni Yamsi, the city of that great Natynozh has effectively become the capital.
  13. OOC: OOC comments are disallowed in this thread. Please refer to the NatRP rules for clarification. If you must comment, shoot me a PM or contact me on Discord. IC: Alabaster Kingdom Natynozh, System Natynozh High Hunter Nykat nods to his aid who hands him a number of scrolls. He takes them and sets them down on the table, keeping none but one. This he opens and reads over once again - it details the overall course of events he wishes for this Communing. He had called it to bring together the various Hunters now residing within the PW-1 universe. While lacking proper House representation, borders nevertheless have been established and necessarily instead of relegating the internal PW-1 matters up to the highest of House officials (all of whom are still very busy with managing the main Nalydian holdings in the NS-1 universe), the various Hunters and High Hunters represent the current list of claims that the Alabaster Kingdom maintains within this new fledgling realm. Thus High Hunter Nykat, acting as representative of Nalydian Iceland and the Pordic North Sea Territories, has gathered a High Hunter from the Nalydian Uranian and Neptunian Territories, the representative of System Natynozh, and the Pord overseeing the Pordic Central Atlantic Principality of the Canary Islands and Cape Verde, for a grand total of four High Hunters if Nykat himself is to be included. He sets this final scroll down on the table and looks out to the other Pords now sat before him - a congregation numbering much greater than four if attendants, guards, lower Hunters, and others are to be included. Chadengrazhni, namenzha Reknugrazhnienshyk, he calls to the gathered. I would like to thank you all for for making it out here today. As you are aware, I am High Hunter Kanyzh Nykat, overall representative of our Icelandic and North Sea territories. He stops to collect his thoughts before continuing: I have called this Communing so that we can discuss the current state of affairs within Colony Natynozh. If any of you wish to claim grieve status, do so now. Otherwise, we shall begin this meeting in the usual fashion. For a moment there is silence. Nykat surveys the faces of the other High Hunters. Nearly in unison they shake their heads; We have no claims, one calls, likewise, another notes. Thus satisfied, Nykat continues: Would the System Natynozh delegation advance their representative? Tasi, a High Hunter calls. High Hunter Choryzhnova Kolytaq, speaking on behalf of the System Natynozh, a Pord calls to Nykat. She stands to bow and steps forward to divorce herself from the rest of the gathered lesser representatives of the System Natynozh. Welcome, High Hunter Kolytaq, Nykat says returning the other Pords' bow. To start us off, I would like to discuss matters concerning the System Natynozh. He grabs the second scroll from the batch he placed earlier and opens it. There has been limited discussion as to where our capital should be located. Many lower Hunters overseeing portions of Iceland and the various islands under my domain have expressed the desire to see our unified capital built on Orbis and in Iceland. High Hunter Kolytaq nods slowly. Her aid fetches a datapad and brings up a file of information and reads it in a hushed voice. Kolytaq nods again and takes the datapad and then turns to face High Hunter Nykat: The System Natynozh holds the largest collection of Pordkind currently in this verse, Nykat Reknugrazhni. With that said, we have not actually begun to set things up for the establishment of a capital. We can agree to building it on Orbis - the location is much better located to interact with the majority of the natives. Perhaps though Orbis is not the best place to establish it, another interrupts. High Hunter Cholnaq nam-Talzhyn. Representative of the Uranian and Neptunian Territories. The other High Hunters take notice of nam-Talzhyn. They turn to face him and he stands from his chair. With a single deft movement, he slides a hologram emitter to the center of the table and seconds later a hologram flickers to life. He motions to it, and their attention is now directed at the image of a chilly blue world with rocky moon; the hologram begins to focus on the moon and soon the familiar angles of traditional Nalydian architecture come into view as a city begins to fill up the viewing-space. nam-Talzhyn grins and takes the opportunity to begin once more: Grazhni Yamsi, he says. I am sure we all recall the Jewel incident, the Siege of Finland, the fall of FJL, the burning of France... There's no reason to put our capital on that damn world when there are so many other powers already inhabiting it. I propose Grazhni Yamsi become our capital - it is still within the Orbis System but isn't on Orbis. This does make sense, Kolytaq agrees. This moon, it orbits - she checks her notes - Uranus? nam-Talzhyn clarifies: Oberon, or rather the version of it native to this verse. High Hunter Nykat makes a few notes on a datapad. I will discuss this matter with the supporters of building the capital in Iceland, he says. I do not foresee an issue. Grazhni Yamsi is a great city and is protected by the gods. How have interactions with the natives been going, Nykat Reknugrazhni? Kolytaq questions, referring back to the original reason for supporting building the capital on Orbis. Nykat has, for all intents and purposes, been acting as liaison between the various native powers and Colony Natynozh. Most of the other Nalydian claims, still fresh from colonization, have required such intensive supervising that nam-Talzhyn, Kolytaq, and the High Hunter now presiding over the Atlantic Territories have been too busy to deal with foreign affairs. Nykat, as the first High Hunter to deal with the Orbisians, was left to represent Nalydya alone. Thus far there have been no complaints... Which can only mean that he has not been doing too terribly of a job. Regardless, Nykat cringes at the question and takes more than a moment to finally make his reply: We are not at war yet, he says with a chuckle. We knew the level of development coming in here. There are still vast untamed swathes of the planet, he says. Have a look... He slides his own hologram emitter to the center; nam-Talzhyn reaches over and places his back in its holder. Almost the entire South American continent is inhabited by tribal savages, as well as an impressive track in Africa. Currently we are working to build a channel from the Atlantic to the Triskeli African holdings and are having to deal with the natives there. Is the Atlantic Territories representative here? Tasi, Patkül Kalanoq Reknugrazhni, the High Hunter confirms and stands before bowing and seating himself. Have you been following the construction of the TransAfrican Channel? Admittedly, I have been a bit too busy to keep up with its progress these last few days. They have made impressive progress, Kalanoq confirms. They have cleared past the Sahel Reserve and are ahead of schedule. The world tour of the Jewel of Orbis is partially to help ease tensions, Nykat says. I'm sure we're all aware of how chaotic this realm is. He chuckles quietly to himself. The Triskel visitation is central to the tour and the channel will ensure that the Jewel has a scenic journey. Triskeli engineers and our own are currently doing the best they can to complete it before the Jewel arrives. Kolytaq nods. She had heard mention of the Jewel of Orbis but it was terribly uneventful and mostly irrelevant information. Jewels always seem to crop up sooner or later. Apparently here they have sprouted sooner rather than later. Likely a good decision, she agrees. This channel is part of a trio of three major projects on Orbis: the completion of our cities, the creation of a new line of Jewels, and the establishment of a channel linking Lake Chad with the Atlantic Ocean. I have already cleared a Jewel for each ocean and the other projects similarly are proceeding well. I expect the Jewels to be completed before the end of this month, he says. Kolytaq nods again. She came to PW-1 at the recommendation of High Hunter Tylaq Balnook - Tylaq had been privy to the knowledge that Nalydya would be expanding into the PW-1 verse for quite some time before it actually occurred (and some say even before Reid) and was thus familiar with all that would be required to fully see a colony through to fruition. But as an integral commander within the Yamsai'an Guard, Tylaq was (well, still is) much too busy to spend her time tending to extrauniversal pursuits... Hence why she recommended Kolytaq go in her stead. That Kolytaq now oversees the System Natynozh and the development of the Pordic holdings there was mere chance; sensors detected the worlds within the System Natynozh almost immediately after the Pordish arrival in-universe, and it was painfully obviously to all who were monitoring them that the worlds would be perfect for Nalydian habitation - they are close enough to Orbis and are blessed with a divine cold that only Jlokhemit himself could have visited upon them. A true blessing indeed, and Kolytaq leapt at the opportunity afforded her to seize them. Natynozh is still undergoing considerable construction, Kolytaq states. We are in the process of establishing orbital yards so that we can bring in heavier equipment to aid in finishing the major cities. I'd really rather not spend too much more time on it, she continues, But we won't be able to fully begin regular day-to-day operations here until they are finished. She nods to Nykat's hologram emitter and he removes it from the table. I'm sure you have all noticed - she places her own hologram emitter in the place of Nykat's - but these locations are where we plan on finishing our yards. High Hunter Nykat finds himself in agreement. The flight to Natynozh had been unremarkable. But upon arriving at the world the state of the constructions was made abundantly clear. The orbitals (from pole to pole) are clogged with ships shunting large slabs about and foundries that pump out huge sections of yards to be then hauled and assembled; tugs and other smaller ships move in concert with them keeping everything in line and - every now and then - rush to stop errant beams and modules from escaping the yards to plummet planetside. Maneuvering through the jungle of ships takes a steady eye and a confident hand, but it is possible to do - Nykat's mere presence in the chamber to direct the Communing is proof enough of that. Silently he thanks his ship-captain for his expertise in guiding his craft. Jlokhemit forbid if Nykat had to fly himself through the construction zone... Hunters are many things - pilots are generally not one of them. His thoughts are interrupted by the hologram emitter as it lights up and the plans for the completed constructs come to life; they are of standard Nalydian design and resemble the shipyards around Grazhni Yamsai. Gargantuan shipberths bespeckle the huge sections that make up the primary ring and smaller gravitic quays dot the fabric around them. There is more than enough room for even the largest of Nalydian capital ships here, and Nykat estimates that the biggest docks are more than a few thousand kilometers in length and fully capable of closing themselves off from the hostile void... Or preying eyes. Once they are complete they will serve as the primary shipyards for the Colonial VRZ and truthfully will have few real rivals within the Nalydian Empire; most of Nalydya's shipbuilding capability is spread out between a good deal of systems as per defensive doctrine; generally such heavy installations draw much more attention than smaller creations (or even the lesser Schalchnu type mobile shipyards) and tend to find themselves under heavy blockade and interdiction as a result... The success and usefulness of the Argan System only serves to solidify this viewpoint. Nykat nods. Very well, he says. Those yards will be useful, especially for Admiral nam-Kalzhak's warships. They are making do right now without the berths, Kolytaq mentions. He did say as much to me though. Nykat nods once again. What are the statuses of the Neptunian and Uranian projects? He turns to High Hunter nam-Talzhyn. The primary gates have been completed and we are linked with NS-1. We have direct access to a system a few light-years away from Talos in the Milky Way. You have seen the state of our cities - the level of completion at Grazhni Yamsi is about typical for most of our settlements so far. Another nod. Very well. High Hunter Kalanoq, do you have anything else to add about projects in the Atlantic Territories? The other Hunter chews his lip before answering. Nothing at the moment - we are making progress both on the channel and on the islands with city construction. We have avoided complication and bad weather so far by the grace of Rekazhnar. Very well. Is there anything else that anyone here wishes to add or request? The other Hunters in the room are mostly silent, but a few shake their heads in disagreement while one or two do audibly say that they are without request. Nykat motions to the scribe: I believe we are mostly done here, then. Have you gotten everything? The scribe nods and hands Nykat his transcripts; Nykat reviews them quickly and then hands them back. This is legible, he grins. Copy this scroll and have them distributed standardly, he says. For the time being I do believe if we have nothing more to discuss then this Communing is adjourned. High Hunters, as always it is a pleasure speaking with you; High Hunter Kolytaq, I do appreciate you hosting this Communing for us here on Natynozh. High Hunter Kolytaq bows. nam-Knachen, Nykat Reknugrazhni, she replies. The other High Hunters bow and begin to file out of the chamber.
  14. Cape Verde Islands and Canary Islands for November.
  15. I can agree that RP here needs work: on this we see eye to eye. Admittedly, I am no fan of the lack of depth that seems to pervade much of the roleplay that fills the myriad pages of these forums. Beyond this though I sense a great gulf between us. Many people tend to have a rather distorted view of realism (apparently if it isn't technology, it isn't worth the time to discern its realism level; if it is technology, then if it hasn't been built yet it gets generally lumped into a vast and overarching "unrealistic" category) which I find to be rather... Limited in scope. One thing I like to point out is that there are many different types of realism - context is king and it is through this lens that everything should be viewed. I could build a "realistically" functioning society in a steampunk world and it would act and behave in a manner consist with a steampunk polity - complete with its own set of believably and realism. What you are describing isn't actually a quest for realism - you are looking more for a limit on technologies. Large or frequent wars, space empires, and grand projects are not inherently unrealistic. I can easily defend each of these (whether or not I'm a fan is another matter entirely) if need be. Execution and context determine whether or not something is reasonable (although I'm willing to bet if someone had an RP about hoards people building massive structures that soar hundreds of feet into the air using mainly physical manpower they'd be laughed at as "unrealistic..." Until they got to the end of the RP to reveal they were writing about the construction of the pyramids the whole time). @Cenna - Many years ago a dear friend of mine used to RP this very vast, very large empire. He never went overboard with numbers in battle, but the mere fact that his nation was so vast and so much larger in comparison to everyone else highlighted the absurdity of the fact he even bothered interacting at all. There's no true risk and there's no inherent danger, there is only the looming reminder that this other person you are RPing with potentially has millions of X or billions of Y sitting in wait should things go south - and that thought alone is enough to spoil interaction even if it never comes to fruition. In your case specifically, there's little reason to have such massive claims as you can't actually use them in any decent RP (not to mention that you cannot truly fathom the scale with which you're working - it's beyond the human mind). It is simply wankage.
  16. Border of Mali and Burkina Faso North of Tongomayel Pordish construction crews work at a feverish pace: they are eager to see their portion of the channel completed on time and by schedule; they clear, compress, and advance at the rate of some one hundred kilometers per day - a rather sedate clip considering the ease of construction from the air. Needless to say, the vast streams of earth and rocks and dirt can be seen from many kilometers away as they are freed from the dirty African savanna and climb skywards towards the ships above, shunted to vessels further back, and then placed back down in the rapidly advancing chasm as massive flat slabs. As the first gravitic haulers near and enter the Sahel Reserve in Burkina Faso, they threaten to overtake their allotted time-slots and become... Early. A pleasant surprise, but nothing all too unexpected considering the nature of what they are completing. Overall the project is rather minuscule in comparison to those Nalydya is much more accustomed to taking part in; the grand difficulty here is primarily marked by the finesse and precision with which the Pords are required to operate courtesy the inhabited nature of Orbis. Almost paradoxically, massive changes to worlds are done much more easily, but they are also done with very little regard for who or what may be living on a planet. For obvious reasons, such disregard for life cannot be taken here - thus the extreme care with which they are now operating. Of course behind the main engineering force a smaller cadre of equally capable rear echelon workers flow forth (they trail the main group of engineers and workers by some fifty kilometers) to begin polishing what has so far been completed of the channel. While the main force does maintain the ability to further refine and process what they have completed already, it is much more efficient to allow a dedicated force to do so. This is the primary reason for the vast sea walls previously erected. And so with all the tools and accouterments befit of their task, these rear echelon engineers go to work: the channel bed is fortified heavily and then covered in a decently thick layer of material from further out to sea to maintain the continuity of the seabed. With the channel twenty kilometers in width, the first three kilometers along either side are used to create a sloping shore that descends at a rather natural rate up until three kilometers from shore - where it then plunges down to the full depth of one thousand meters, allowing for the passage of the majority of ships that ply the stormy seas of Orbis. For Nalydya, at least, the bulk of passenger and freight shipping is more than capable of traversing the waters, and even some military craft - mostly runner type vessels, older destroyers which may or may not actually still be in service, and cruisers - even the larger Generation XV cruisers which range from 2 to 5 kilometers as their length is much, much, less than their draft. Out on the Atlantic Ocean, the Jewel of Orbis has made its way to the Mri holdings in England. The visitation there is short as the vessel is forced to enable its rather extensive environmental shielding to keep out the horrendous noxious gases and atmospheric particulates. No tours are held - the Mri are simply presented with a gift to thank them for allowing it to sail with Mri waters and to reinforce the bond between the Nalydian and Mri people. It soon pulls away from the British Isles and once again begins steaming south towards the Mediterranean, but a few changes have been made in her itinerary, the most relevant of which being a short visitation with the Evenstar before passing through the narrow straits of Gibraltar, effectively moving the Kressnians down the list to third nation to be visited, but second where tours are to be held. With news that the TransAfrican Channel is on schedule, the commanding officers adjust the speed of the floating city to keep pace with its construction, and plan on arriving off of Nalydian Cape Verde in time to be able to use the channel to visit the Grand Triskelion Federation. The Triskeli visitation is planned to be the longest and most scenic of the visits on the Jewel's world tour, and fortunately for those sailing on her, they will get to experience the exotic African coast (in stark contrast to the bleak ocean which is what the view is for most of the tour) for most of the transit to and away from Triskel.
  17. Nalydian Relations The commander of the VRZ warship parked in orbit had not been on the bridge when news of a fresh contact washes over the crew present manning the various stations and subsections within the primary command room. Deep within the bowels of the massive warships they double and then triple check their sensory suites in verification of the news before requesting that he return to review the developing situation. Fortunately, It does not take him long to make his way back to the bridge and onto the slightly raised command podium somewhere rear of centre in the chamber. Upon arrival he takes a moment to acclimate himself, but before the turn of a few minutes (in all honesty perhaps even more time than he should have taken) he is down to business: Thus questioning the crew: What do we have? Warship signature, Captain. It is consistent with native tags, the primary sensors operator notes. She waves her hand over her own miniature display to zoom in and then back out to verify, once again, that there is something there. The Natyl and Mylchar Arrays are very accurate - almost to the point of instilling disbelief in those who have had the privilege of serving long enough within the VRZ to recall the older sensory suites. Interesting, the captain nods. Of course naturally, he was considerably less interested than he let on to his subordinates. It has never been illegal for ships to exist, much less for them to - Jlokhemitforbid - move, but nevertheless it is still good that precautionary actions were taken. He motions to the displays; they zoom in on Japan and the vessel becomes all that much clearer to them. He shakes his head. Japan. Those damn islands always seem to be drawing someone's attention. Kesrith and Kira and Heinz and Keegan... Here, another, and visibly invasion. Images of the Pords' own invasion of Japan flash through his head (Keegan's ill-fated traipse upon Katsuura and the accompanying Ceyhelene failure have become a favourite operation to cover throughout the myriad academies in Nalydya) before he quells them. Orders? Monitor it and the invasion but do nothing more. I'm sure they're already keeping track of what's going on planetside so there's nothing more for us on the matter. Tasi, comes an affirmation, tasinehdao, the affirmation is echoed. Thus perhaps unsurprisingly, the Colonial government issues no official statement regarding the course of events in Japan. Privately, High Hunter Nykat and a number of members of the Colony Natynozh High Hunter Council gather to discuss the turn of events. They debate back and forth for a few hours on the matter (Nykat himself highlights the general level of tensions across the Orbisian globe and the importance of keeping the fleet and grounds units given to Colony Natynozh intact), but they do not allow their deliberations to spill over past the end of the day. By nightfall they have reached a consensus: nothing will be done in support of - or in action against - the parties defending and assaulting Japan.
  18. Ended up discussing this with a few other people as well - we are pretty much in agreement that other than what was mentioned above everything else seems pretty good to go. Our main concerns were dropping the consent rule, addressing the post length and quality, and ensuring that metagaming and godmodding are dealt with. Most of these appear to have been tended to.
  19. I mean - I can live with my current colour. My main gripe was the incorrect name which still hasn't been fixed - I only added colour on there to help maintain IC consistency.
  20. A very good start. Numbered point 1 also should clarify that lore need not necessarily be confined to a single thread and that if people have websites (such as weebly) they can be linked in signatures for people to access. In numbered point 2, the suggestion that OOC thread(s) should be linked to in the OP of IC thread (and vice versa) should be added. Numbered point 3 is mostly fine. I personally would word it a bit more so that it tends to imply at least a paragraph or two of content as Thalmor suggested, but that's just nitpicking. Numbered point 4 though I feel could benefit from rewording to avoid confusion with the current consent rules present in the main NatRP area - perhaps focus on the "no godmodding" aspect combined with a definition of metagaming and mention that metagaming too is against the rules (as I see no mention of metagaming currently). I might be missing a few things - I'll come back and edit this later to add them, or throw up another post if there are replies before I do so.
  21. Rules existing in one part of the forums for one group does not preclude them from existing elsewhere (if I'm understanding you correctly - feel free to completely disregard if I've completely missed what you're saying); rules intrinsic to RP (no godmodding or metagaming is a base rule) should be included here regardless of whether or not they are included within other rule sets.
  22. Nalydian Relations The various higher officials within Colony Natynozh's colonial military and government eye the changes sweeping through Caledonia with both skepticism and sympathy - after all, they do understand the need to improve defensive capabilities: the Pords themselves often do so quite often; the creation and fielding of Generation XV warships was done, similarly, in response to a general increase in hostilities found within Nalydya's current home 'verse's Milky Way Galaxy. And now currently, Generation XV forms the bulk of the High Hunter's Navy. Beyond this though, careful note is made of publicly stated numbers, though no official response is forthcoming from the Pordish government about the various expansions. Privately, members of the Nalydian military find themselves skeptical of the effectiveness of Project Zeus. Steel has proven to be a rather terrible metal for kinetic impactors, and basing new technologies on it, the Pords find, has the potential to severely retard the advancement of further projects. Regardless, congratulations are still voiced publicly about the expansion of Project Zeus, with High Hunter Nykat stating that: It is good to see other nations learning about space and taking the first strides towards laying the groundwork for more advanced stellar weaponry.
