  1. That's pretty much what I got out of reading it... strange... let's hear your idea on war, I'm interested!
  2. Hi Eva, For March: please remove my claims from South East Asia, and if you wouldn't mind adding: https://docs.google.com/drawings/d/1vCa2DQmLyxoV_d_4HcG2iGRQoh6C0sV5_Z1bdv57epw/edit?usp=sharing Thank you!
  3. Thanks! In all honesty, I never even knew that anyone had suggested the idea. Oh well...
  4. If you could link me to the place where the idea was posted, I'd appreciate it (just so I can read it). Secondly, if you resigned, who's moderating?
  5. So... The title is self-explanatory. The NatRP forum (from what I've witnessed) is pretty dead. Not completely dead, but close enough to being dead that we should be worried. NatRP no longer has all the dedicated players who posted every few days with in-depth, detailed posts. This should have us worried. In the past, there was enough of role-play to go around to keep fueling ideas and creativity. I'm sure I can't be the only one who's now struggling to come up with ideas and follow through with them. I think enough is enough. I have one idea to at least try and bring back some of the roleplaying... (it involves the mods... I know that may sound bad, but seriously, trust me on this). As this forum is dying, let's use the power of the mods to revive (electrode) it back to life. What I'm saying is that every now and then, the mods can force an event to happen on Orbis (examples: alien invasion, Orbis core destabilization, asteroid impact... you get the idea). As nations on Orbis, we need to respond to this event in the way(s) that we think appropriate. Of course, the mods can then force secondary events as a consequence of the main event. This will (logically) continue until the event is over, or until we presume the event (or threat) negated. Now, I know that on these fair isles some players don't like moderators being involved (I'm not one of them, I have respect for the mods and the job that they do). But trust me, if these events come up randomly, it'll add a little more action to this forum (it's dead). Furthermore, as a result of these events, RP players will continue the event, by explaining how their respective nations are rebuilding (if the event requires rebuilding), or how life is getting back to normal. Alice and the NatRP players what do you think? I'd like to hear some constructive feedback towards this proposal as well! --- Example of an "event" (if you don't understand what I mean): (For sake of example, the "event" forced by the mods is: Imminent large asteroid impact on Orbis) Moderator: Huh, the forum looks pretty dead... time for an event Moderator creates post: "EVENT: Imminent large asteroid impact on Orbis": (the post should describe the event, some context, relevant details about the event, and in this case estimated impact area). NatRP players read throught the event post. In a reply to that post, we begin a whole thread about how our respective nations respond. Throughout the response the mods can create secondary events as a consequence of the main event. Later... The event ends naturally... Nations create their own new posts about (in this case) the rebuilding of their nations, and then continue in their merry way. ---

  8. Hungadada congratulates Wintery on the successful introduction of the card access program and the planning of implementation of chipping. This is sure to help with public safety in a way that is unprecdented.
  9. Oh yes, the new budget is already going to combat both new and existing threats. This new HQ was made capable because of the budget increase. As explained, the HQ has new technology and far more advanced capabilities to combat threats, made possible by the new budget. If you have any more questions, please don't hesitate to ask them! OOC: Don't worry, the message looks perfectly normal on my end.
  10. Thank you for your comments. The wellness center provides a spa, a gym, a swimming pool, a masseur, and a health clinic. A cafe that sells organic, nutritious food is also there. Our engineers based the design partially off Port Royalty International Airport (PRIA), and partially off the DSDH Headquarters. It was made to be futuristic, and highly technologically advanced (in regards to the work that HIS performs). If you have anymore questions, please don't hesitate to ask!
  11. The following is a statement from the DSDH: LOCATION: DSDH Press Information Room, Alpha Complex TIME: 6:45 PM ORBIS TIME PORT 2213 Spokesperson: "Due to a budget increase and more capability to counteract the billions of threats that face Hungadada both in physical space and in cyberspace, the DSDH can officially announce today that the Hungadada Intelligence Service (HIS) will be moving out from its headquarters and main operating center at Alpha Complex, and will move to a more remote, more secure, larger, more advanced headquarters and operating center. I'd like to present HIS Headquarters Absolute: *image flashes up on screens* That is HIS Headquarters Absolute. This new HQ is state-of-the-art and has capabilities our enemies can only dream of. This new HQ cost just $200,789,391.44 and is just spectacular. The HQ also has, for the first time, a wellness center, which will allow HIS agents to de-stress from their work of protecting Hungadada. Questions?
  12. The Emperor's personal aide knocks on the door. He opens it and pops his head through. "Sir, HIS has a file for you". The Emperor looks up and nods. "Excuse me a minute will you," he says to the person on the other end of the phone. The Emperor walks over. "What is it". "I don't know sir" replies the aide. "HIS said something about independence" he pauses. He then whispers "You know much they talk." The Emperor chuckles. The aide hands the file over and makes his departure. The Emperor takes the file and walks to his desk. Carefully, he opens the file and starts reading through the briefing. "HIS interrupted me for this?"The Emperor chuckles and begins to laugh. A few deep breaths and the Emperor composes himself. He chuckles once more, before closing the file and returning to his call...
  13. Hello and welcome to HNS General Broadcast #3. Let's begin with the news: Hungadada Expands Territory - All of Wales Under Hungadada Hungadada now officially controls all of Wales. The Emperor officially announced the claim yesterday. BioSphere Project Today, the Ministry of the Interior, CEI and the Ministry of Commerce officially announced that construction would begin on the long-awaited $1 billion BioSphere Project. This project was announced 3 years ago, but due to a lack of interest and lack of funding, planning stalled. However, renewed public interest (which can be credited to the Citizens for Orbis Project) has created a massive funding boost for the BioSphere Project. The BioSphere Project will aim to boost understanding of different plants and different climates (e.g. tropical rainforests, polar climates etc.), and will aid visitors in understanding the threats that face each "zone" and ways that destruction and damage can be prevented. According to jointly released documents by CEI and MoI, the entire project will consist of 2 large "domes" which will each contain a climate (tropical rainforest, and polar tundra) and hundreds of plants associated with that climate. Out of the 3 smaller domes, 2 will feature other climates: deserts and Mediterranean. The 3rd dome will feature a permanent exhibit of rare plants, and will also serve as the environment center, where visitors can understand the different aspects that make up the climate. Finally, a large "tent" will feature native-Hungadadian plants and some wildlife. A modern Visitor's Center will also be built and will have staff ready to assist all visitors. A cafe and restaurant is also planned. Food will be supplied by local farmers. The food will be organic and packaging bio-degradable. There are also walking paths all around the area, and the entire area is covered in plants. Power for the entire area is provided by a hydroelectric power plant 15km away. The large amounts of water needed to sustain a humid temperature for the tropical rainforest will be collected through rainwater. The MoI provided this artists impression of the project: That will end today's broadcast. Any questions/comments can be posted below. Thanks!
  14. For February expansion, if I could have all the French Wales territory? Thanks! (RP Post will be up later today)
  15. Ministry of Foreign Affairs Statement Hungadada cannot and will not accept any form of piracy. We will not tolerate any raiding or hijacking of our vessels. An attack on our vessels will prompt harsh retribution and will be seen as a declaration of war.
  16. Welcome back to this Special Report, taking a look at Emperor Tristar Majestica's Climate Change Initiative. This is the 2nd and final part of this Special Report. Let's get to it: Wildlife Protection Zone Expansion Project The Wildlife Zone Project was launched as part of the old Climate protection plans. It never took center stage but did serve an important an important part in creating and sustaining Greenfield National Park. The Emperor signed the Wildlife Protection Zone Expansion Project as part of his climate laws and brought the issue of wildlife protection to the table. Almost immediately, over 400 acres of new land was deemed protected by the project, and a further 3100 acres was added to protected land over the next few weeks. The project helped bring back fox populations, rabbit populations, and deer populations which were on the brink of extinction, as hunters all over Hungadada came to hunt. All in all, the Hungadadian government declared the project a success yesterday. Citizens of Orbis Program The Citizens of Orbis Program was officially launched with the new laws and provided a new objective to lowering the overall environmental footprint of Hungadadian citizens. The program worked directly with municipalities and town councils to educate citizens about the hundreds of problems facing the Hungadadian environment. Problems such as fresh-water pollution, illegal logging, littering, food wasting and dozens of others were all discussed, and educators urged citizens to do their part in taking care of the environment. A nationwide walk to clean up litter brought out over 15,000 people, and collected over 50 tons of garbage and litter. Municipalities and town councils were also urged to continue planning for the future and investing in future green projects. Leading by example was the small town (only 50 people) of West Rock. The local government there invested in a small food recycling center and community garden, which urged citizens to bring their food waste to the center to be made into compost. The compost would then go into the fertilizer for the garden. West Rock also overhauled its trash collection systems, by requiring people to separate their trash into food waste, plastics and aluminum, and paper/cardboard. All municipal vehicles in West Rock are powered by electricity. Other towns are following suit, and Gull City even announced that it would begin an overhaul of its waste collection. All in all, the Citizens of Orbis Program can possibly be called the most successful program yet. -- That will end this Special Report. Any questions/comments can be posted below. Thank you for tuning in!
  17. HNS is not aware of any current goals being worked on by both Hungadada and France. As per the new law, French citizens with diesel or petrol cars are still allowed in Hungadada. OOC: We have a bridge?? While that particular survey did not specify the opinions of those who wanted more done, HNS conducted our own opinion poll and noted that a lot of the 11% who wanted more done said that more punishments should have been implemented to take action against those who break climate laws, both new and old. They say that the government while creating new laws, is not doing enough to enforce those laws. While it is not good to generalise, quite a few of those who were in the 16% disapproving were fossil fuel company exectutives, fossil fuel worker unions, and some workers themselves. Those in the industry of fossil fuels (coal, oil etc.) say that the government should be doing more to gradually ease Hungadada out of fossil fuel dependency, instead of shock moves. Some conservatives were also unhappy with the new laws.
  18. Thank you for your questions. The Green Energy Program was committed to finding alternative jobs for those affected by the closures of coal plants. These coal plants were closed slowly and methodically, so as to ensure that every coal worker had a job before the next plant was closed. About 60% of the workers who were affected by the closures agreed to undergo a retraining program to serve as workers at nuclear power plants across the country. The remaining 40% are currently engaged in talks with government "counselors" to help them figure out alternative employment. To clear up any confusion, diesel and petrol cars are still allowed on our roads. They are no longer allowed to be sold. Those with petrol and diesel cars will be allowed to use them until the cars are no longer useable, or until the owner wishes to buy a new car (which will be hybrid or electric). Supply at the moment is plentiful, and electric cars continue to be made. Electric car companies had made use of generous breaks and built large factories with huge capacity. This capacity was not used until recently as the demand for electric cars was lower than it is now. At the moment, there isn't any risk of demand outstripping supply. Finally, in a recent poll released by the non-profit, independent organization Poll Group LLC, 73% of those surveyed are very happy with the new climate measures, 11% say that either more could be done, and 16% say that they disapprove with the new laws. -- Thank you.
  19. Hello and welcome to the Hungadada News Network. Today, in an HNS first, we'll be doing a Special Report on the Emperor's latest climate change policy. This Special Report is Part One. Part Two will be released shortly. Let's begin: The Beginning The Emperor officially announced his policies for climate change last year. Although Hungadada already had generous and stringent pollution laws, scientists from across the board said that the current level of protection was not enough. Therefore, the Emperor undertook a complete overhaul of the "Climate Law" and updated it with five new goals that the government should achieve. The refreshments to the "Climate Law" also added in some minor, but nonetheless important changes that would usher in a new era of climate and environment protection. "HNS The Climate Change Initiative" takes a look at all the changes that the Emperor made to the "Climate Law". The Green Transport Program As envisioned 9 years ago, the Green Transport Program was created as a draft proposal to combat rising pollution levels in Port Royalty. Originally, it was meant to combat pollution by creating new programs to persuade people to use public transport instead of private vehicles. When it was put in place 5 years ago, it was met with criticism as critics complained that forcing people onto an already inefficient public transportation network would be detrimental to society. The program ended 3 years ago, and although it had moderate success, it forced the government to reorganize and modernize public transport. The program was re-implemented 2 years ago, this time with new improvements, such as requiring all public transportation to be hybrid. This improvement was widely successful and lowered pollution rates by 15%. The Green Transport Program was revamped when Emperor Tristar Majestica refreshed the "Climate Law". It included areas to improve. The Cabinet noted that it was now the only natural to work to make all public transport 100% electric. Of course, this was added in. More importantly, The Green Transport Program revamp took more attention towards the use of private vehicles, and trucks. Although it was not made clear what effect the revamp would have on private transportation, this would be made clear when the Emperor officially signed the law. The sale of petrol and diesel powered cars or trucks was made illegal on January 1st, 2013. Overnight, demand for electric and hybrid cars shot up, and car showrooms were in overdrive. The Ministry of the Interior and Ministry of Transportation began building electric fuel stations, and areas for batteries to recharge. The Green Transport Program also forced all public transport companies to switch out their buses and taxies for electric versions. Overall, pollution rates are the lowest ever in Hungadadian history. Pollution statistics show that the level of pollution is slowly moving downward, thanks to the implementation of The Green Transport Program, and generous breaks on the purchase of an electric or hybrid car (10% off on any new electric or hybrid car. Terms and Conditions Apply). The program is seen as a major success, although car manufacturers are unhappy with the new rules. Plastics Tax The refreshment of the "Climate Law" also took aim at the plentiful use of plastic in the economy. Studies by CEI, the Ministry of the Interior, and the HCGS found that millions of fish, birds and other animals had died as a direct result of plastic bag digestion. Therefore, the new law made it mandatory to charge a $1 charge for any plastic bag being sold. Organic cloth bags were being sold as alternatives to plastic bags, and public information stands outside shopping malls helped inform the public about the dangers of plastic. General public reception was positive. Some members of the public were critical of the cost, and said that $1 was "too much". However, survey's from supermarkets across the country saw a 49% increase in the use of reusable plastic bags, which indicates that the tax is slowly but surely becoming effective. The HCGS reported a lower number of dead animals due to plastic bag digestion. Green Power Program The Emperor made it mandatory for the government to ensure that all power stations across Hungadada were either carbon-neutral or 100% emissions free. The goal of the Green Power Program was completed in July of last year. The last coal plant in Hungadada closed down on July 18th (it's now a museum). Hungadada is entirely powered by state-of-the-art nuclear power stations, which are entirely emissions free. However, the Emperor declared that stopping at nuclear power was not good enough, and provided $500m annually to a budget to be used for the research into nuclear fusion reactors. --- That will end this Special Broadcast. Part Two will be released soon. Any questions/comments can be posted below.
  20. I offer my heartfelt condolences to the family of King Tiggera, and the nation of Thundera. Orbis has lost one of its great people, and King Tiggera will be remembered for his great achievements. Hungadada will do everything in our power to assist the Thunderan Royal Family and the great nation of Thundera in this period of deep sadness. May King Tiggera live on! -Emperor Tristar Majestica
