Violence builds up to cease fire

As the rebellion in Foxburo intensifies, most of the city of Swords remains under rebel control. Protesters have stopped protesting and have turned to guns, trying to maintain control over the city and protect rebel leaders. Most of the city has been encircled, but rebels still control the highway leading southbound towards the city of Detrathe. Rebel fighters have been reported executing ethnic Asians, captured soldiers and others who show support for the Communist Party as heavy fighting took place near the city center.

In the cities of Vytal and Kalakovgrad, thousands have volunteered to defend Fox Fires government and fight the rebels in Swords. 

 

Premier Fox Fire addressed the international community in a statement this evening:
 

We do not desire to wage war on our own people, but we will do what is necessary to protect those law abiding citizens. Not long ago, rebel leaders approached the government requesting negotiations. We rejected this offer under the idea that negotiations cannot reasonably take place while rebels continue killing Foxburo citizens.

Earlier today, a cease fire was agreed upon and enacted 1 hour ago. So far, the cease fire seems to be holding with neither side advancing beyond their current positions. Under these circumstances, we are prepared to enter into peace talks with rebel leaders. The talks will take place in the city of Nepria which has largely remained neutral in the conflict.

Although the cease fire has taken effect, volunteer fighters from Vytal and Kalakovgrad are still signing up and tensions are still high. The opinion of negotiations in Vytal are varied with many people believing this is a victory for the government while others are calling it a defeat. The current death toll stands at an estimated:

332 SRoF soldiers

679 Rebel fighters

889 Civilains

1,900 total

The royalty of Billonesia supports the government of Foxfire in their eradication attempt of the rebels. We wish the issue could be resolved immediately and did not spill-over into other nations. Especially ours.
