Operation Castille:

 

Lelouch and the Britannian Knights all sat quiet looking at a giant map laid out between all of them. Pieces of boats, flags, trains, and so on where placed throughout the map. It was almost like it was a giant board game. However, this was a naive way to look at it. Instead it was a replication of Cuba. The next target for the Britannian Empire to expand into, this time they prepared for a war the world had yet to see.

"Let's go over it one last time." C.C said as everyone lightly nodded, as they had been at it for months.

 

The plan would be to use the 2nd Britannian Fleet which currently compromises a cruiser and 4 corvettes to start in the invasion. However, aiding the invasion would be 2 transport ships for the navy. These ships alongside transport planes would carry troops for the invasion. Two divisions worth of troops would be used to begin the invasion, roughly 20 thousand troops with armour following suit.

The start of the invasion would commence with aerial bombing and a fight for the air. Britannia would use Florida as a base to bomb targets and maintain control. Once the targets had been bombed, taking out Cuba's air capabilities it would start the land phase. There would be a two prong attack, from the West and East side of Savannah. With a smaller landing near a university that would later act as a FOB.

To secure control of the only obstacle that could stop the invasion was near a University. The road over a piece of water needed to be in control as to allow the transportation of the armour. Britannian Marines would advance ahead of the rest of the force to both secure the bridge, and prevent reinforcements from Havana, or at the very least slow them down.

"Within 24 hours of D-Day we should have full control of our flank and be moving forward towards the city. D+2 should be us securing the entire outskirts of the city. Surround it so we may avoid having to storm the city and avoid loosing countless lives on multiple sides. D+3 on or during, we will give Havana a last chance, before we begin the shelling. Should they refuse, the soldiers will rest, and the shelling will begin. Should they surrender, the soldiers will be relieved with reinforcements to occupy the city, while we take control of the rest of the island. It will be done peacefully...or the island will fall as well." Lelouch wrapped up the meeting as he looked at everyone around him.

D-Day

 

"What is war without sacrifice?" Lelouch quietly asked himself aboard the Avalon overseeing the invasion of Cuba. After months of planning and preparation the day had finally arrived that would make history. Cuba, one of the last communist footholds would fall to Britannia. However, no war is clean, and every war has it's tragedies. For this one, it came sooner rather than later.

 

D-Day 01:30

The Britannian Marines would land earlier than expected at their destination. A whole hour and a half ahead of schedule of the rest of the army, meaning the pressure would be on them. Upon landing the Britannian Marines would go to secure two objectives ahead of the bridge to secure against reinforcements. While the approach would go smoothly, once the alarms were cut, and the University was isolated is when destiny intervened. Cuban Militia who were preparing for a speech in the morning and patrolling the area were spotted by the Britannian Marines. To minimize the chance of the militia contesting the University a rocket was fired at the truck carrying the militia. The explosion would send the rest of the patrol into a firefight with the hidden marines.

 

D-Day 02:00

Half the marines would go on to secure the University while the rest would assault the militia. The firefight wouldn't last much longer until the militia were forced to surrender due to the marines securing the University and having full view of the militia. No marines were reported injured or killed, while the militia took 8 KIA and 5 injured out of a total of 25 militia. As POWs they were held in the basement of the university along with anyone else found. The marines would go on to both secure the University and the bridge paving the way for the rest of the army for when they arrived.

 

D-Day 03:00

The rest of army would arrive at their destined drop points. Division Group A and Division Group B as they would be called would be assaulting Tarará and Playa Baracoa respectively. The residents of Cuba would be awoken to the roaring of jet engines as they approached ready to cover the advancing soldiers. Before the main fleet took off, airstrikes and naval bombardments would hit various targets throughout the area. The airports and military base that pose the highest threat were hit hard and fast. Within a few moments the dark night would be illuminated by the fires started following the airstrikes.

 

D-Day 03:15

Following the initial strikes the main army would land following a final pass of airstrikes on enemy footholds in the city. Within moments the ships had reached the shore and the soldiers alongside their armour to support them had landed. It wouldn't be long until the whole of Cuba was aware of what was going on. Each Division Group had their own roles, half of them would go on to secure the town that was being assaulted and the other half would go on to prepare top advance on Havana. The rest of the day would consist of the Britannians securing their flanks, and preparing to advance once everything was within order.

 

D-Day 20:00 (Division Group A)

What started out as an easy invasion quickly turned into firefights in key areas throughout the city. By 20:00 the city had been secured, but now Britannia had been taking their first causalities in their assault. Division Group A had taken 48 casualties, largely in part due to two ambushes by Cuban Militia within two different hotels. Both of which had to be fired upon by Tanks to clear out the defenders. Once the first two hotels fell, the rest of the city threw in their weapons to avoid any more pointless resistance. It was also due to the fact no actual professional military had been sent in yet to challenge the Britannians. Instead over 250 Cuban Militia casualties were put in with unknown civilian casualties.

By then as the sun had set, the Britannian flew over the city with the rest of the military joining up to prepare to push Havana.

 

D-Day 20:30 (Division Group B )

While Division Group A had their success and failures, it was Division Group B that faced an even harder challenge. Due to the landscape an already low-manned division had to split off to push and encircle the town. Half of the already split division pushed along the coast while the other half pushed closer to the rest of the army. The division pushing along the coast would come under heavy fire near Albe Baracoa. After taking heavy casualties and facing a hidden enemy an airstrike was called in on the area leveling nearly an entire block. While it's unknown the amount of civilian loss, what it did achieve was forcing the surrender of the city as the rest of the push was done without much resistance. Once the city was secured and the rest of the army met up, the group that had faced heavy casualties had lost nearly 200 casualties. Thankfully of which was mostly injuries. However, in the fighting multiple armoured vehicles were damaged.

As Division Group A had also captured their city, Division Group B were successful as well. The race to Havana was on.

"The amount of armour that landed played a major role in the invasion of Cuba, we are now seeing pockets of resistance and checkpoints being ran through." said one of the officers as he briefed Suzaku aboard one of Britannia Capital Ships. "In addition to this, because of the lack of resistance we have been able to advance up to and surround Havana completely. We expect to hear back from them by midnight." he finished as Suzaku nodded gazing out the window seeing the coast of the city from the ship.

 

 

Britannia had surrounded the capital of Cuba within three days thanks to their blitz on both sides of the capital. While Cuban militia have put up a fight, the military capabilities have been smashed leaving the city nearly without outside reinforcements. While no shelling has taken place on the city itself Britannia has made it very clear they are very well capable of causing mass casualties if the city doesn't surrender to the invading army.

BREAKING NEWS

 

At 10:00 pm, a mere 2 hours before Britannia's ultimatum was set to expire and a bombardment would commence the Cuban government has made their reply. With no immediate relief force, and for the lives of those in Havana, the Cuban government has surrendered unconditionally to The Holy Britannian Empire. This would signal the absolute control of North America to now fall under the Britannian Empire.

We expect peace terms to be drawn up shortly, and at the moment an occupation force has already left Britannia and is embarking to Cuba to maintain control and get the country up and running once again but as a province of Britannia. Some military vessels are already being redirected to maintain control of Cuba, while others are being used to deploy troops into South America for control of the Caracas following the collapse of their government.

In response to recent expansions of the Britannian empire, the Union started to smuggle some old soviet AFV's and recon vehicle which would allow the mobility to local forces inside Texas and Mexican lands which would ensure heavier civilian resistance in case of any further expansion in the North American continent. The Union would also send Kalashnikov rifles in many variants, as LMGs and assault rifles mostly, and along it ammo. The process would go of first sending the guns, then the recon vehicles and then the AFVs, periodically. All would be sent in parts to be reassembled once they reach the local antifascist and anti-imperialist forces. In an another wave of supplying, the shipments would also contain basic medical necessities and materials to make Molotov cocktails. Both transports of weaponry would take 3 months overall at max.

Britannia formally rebukes the statements made by Israel towards Britannia. We also call upon Israel to understand the situation at hand before making such claims towards Britannia. While the actions are seen as aggressive and not peaceful whatsoever. It should be acknowledged that a communist nation that doesn't allow basic freedoms to it's citizens just by existing on the doorstep of a free country is a threat. Instead, Britannia has spared civilians and has paved the way to free millions of innocents to pursue their dreams. If anything Britannia's war will open the door to a more peaceful world.

Israeli diplomats in Britannia inform Britannia that Israel withdraws her statements, as there is currently a national crisis on the homefront. The diplomats do say that they meant the Israelis prefer a diplomatic and reformist solution rather than invasion.

Cuba formally surrenders to Britannia

 

Today Cuba has formally surrendered their war effort to The Holy Britannian Empire. As per the ultimatum, no changes will be made and Cuba will be formally established as a province of Britannia, retaining their name and flag to be flown alongside the Britannian flag. The following outlines the surrender terms presented by Britannia and accepted by Cuba.

1. Cuba formally recognizes The Holy Britannian Empire as their new government and Emperor Lelouch as their leader.

2. Cuba's government will be given the option to remain in office so long as communism is removed from the party and re-established.

3. Cuba will hand over Guanajay to Britannia to be established into a Britannian City, citizens will be compensated if they are required to leave.

4. Cuba's military will remain a provincial militia.

5. Cuba will be granted the status of province within the Empire alongside all rights and responsibilities.

6. A 1% tax will be applied on Cuba to pay for war damages.

7. A one thousand man defence force will be left in Cuba.

The Union of Durotar gives asylum for any communist leaders and people who favour communist ideals, the Committee of Durotar asks the Britannian government to grant free leave to the political enemies of it who were in Cuba to be able to travel to Durotar if they desired so, and for any followers of the ideals.
