Gulf of Mexico

Alternate Timeline Orbis-63

Three kilometers beneath the azure hues of the surface of the Gulf of Mexico, a half dozen Kenzhelengrazhni type transports sit idly as they hide beneath the drop of the continental slope. They have recently arrived - after traversing the stormy Atlantic - and are poised to begin their operation. With them are perhaps a dozen or so Tylaq Balnook type runners; with the sun just barely edging over the horizon, the time has nearly come for them to make their move. In the hangar bays of the transports, Pords scurry about, shuffling around ordnance and double checking systems. Pilots hurry to their craft; they are familiar with what the daylight will bring and they are ready to endure it. Many wear headbands - Melysh - with the likeness of a tundra wolf emblazoned upon them. Klovnar, grand god of wolves, was the first to show Pords how to hunt as a pack and now his guidance will be called upon once again.

The extensive hangar bays of the first transport begin to open and a vast torrent of water rushes into the ship; moments later a torrential wave of Cholanrüchen and Chlümüchgrazhni type gunships sally forth from the vessel's pregnant interiour. The next transport mirrors the first. And then the third. And the fourth. It does not take long for the entire force to emerge from the vessels that carried them. They circle briefly as they wait for the component units to coalesce, and then they set course for shore; they explode from the depths and power through the air column, the tens of thousands of craft easily blanketing the skies.

They target the River Nueces and use its southeasterly course as the epicenter for their arrival and will soon be upon the city of Mathis. The first to emerge from the morning fog are the thirty-four thousand strong Paramarine assault units of the I Paramarine Korps; VII and XIV Korps are only slightly behind - and flanking them - (to the north and south, respectively) with another seventy thousand men. The various gunships glisten in the sun and the massive turquoise tridents upon their wings can clearly be distinguished. On their heels are XIV Shock Korps and VIII Shock Korps with XXIX Korps in tow; four more corps zoom westward lagging only just to the rear: reserves, extra troops, siege artillery.

The Paramarine objective is simple: locate and mark pockets of heavy resistance, coalesce and overwhelm pockets of lesser resistance, and remain air mobile. Operating in conjunction with them are over half a dozen corps of standard ZJR ground forces. With their heavier equipment they are tasked with engaging pockets of heavy resistance and overcoming the bulk of the hostile land army. General Keegan had drafted the invasion plan with input from Feldmarschall Reid. The crimson-caped leader of the Adgu was the first to theorize the concept of hypermaneuverability. Keegan, Peterson's old war horse, is eager to witness it in action.

What is on your mind, general?

Keegan is quiet. He had ordered his force to maintain silence as they begin the operation to achieve as much surprise as possible. It is not a flawless plan, but he nevertheless hopes it will pay off. The transit across the Atlantic has gone remarkably well, all things considered.

Once the Paramarines make contact they will notify us.

Keegan's aide nods. Best you didn't join the initial assault, general.

General Keegan turns. Perhaps, he says looking to the displays...

Above the Nalydian Force, Gulf of Mexico

Task Force Urukubarr made its way to the drop point. The force consisted of surface and orbital elements. On the surface of the Gulf of Mexico, 20 Xenephon Battleships and 35 Pliith Missile cruisers glided gracefully through the seas towards their targets. Above, a fleet of 26 Gwarm Cruisers, 2 Oni Battleships and 1 Nidhoggur Carrier. The air around the Fleet was covered by a fighter escort from the Cruisers and Batlteship. The buzzing drone of the Locust fighters in atmosphere was one of the most terrifying sounds for the enemies of the Mri. Not only were these creatures superb fighters in the air, they were extremely powerful when they landed on the ground and took an active role in ground engagements. Currently, only 676 of the Locust Fighters were out. The Cruisers had deployed their fighter escorts as well, 338 CFA-77 Fighters, one of the newest additions to the Imperial Kesrithi Navy. It had personalized point defense systems which gave it greater chance of surviving each encounter. In its short history, they have had a 50% increase in return rates vs other previous fighter generations.

The Surface navy was the most dated, but still very effective due to the Battleship's main guns. Nine 150cm naval guns with extraordinary range backed up by another dozen 255mm guns for closer weapons support. The missile ships were armed with the Surface to Surface Multi-target Plasma Torpedoes. While each ship could only hold 64 of the torpedoes, each one of those torpedoes held enormous destructive power. With the capability of splitting into ten torpedoes capable of independent targeting, the weapon could easily be used to take out entire infantry columns or tank divisions.

As they hit the drop point, the Nidhoggur opened its primary hangar bay. The interior of the ship was completely hallowed out to give it the most carrying capacity that a ship its size could. While the Pords would be focusing on Mathis further up river, the First Battalion of the Mri strike force was being deployed at Corpus Christi right along the coastline. The Scarab and Infestation Dropships sped towards the coastline as the first of the Artillery shells from the Battleships started landing along the coast to try and soften any defenses and create cover for the Mri forces as they landed. Fighters scanned over head for signs of the enemy.

Mayan Territories, Orbis

The Pords and Mri were at the gates. While no official declaration of war had yet come, the build up of forces sent a clear message to the Nakbe. The Nohoch Belnalob, Kabil Ix, in charge of the Maya Terrestrial Forces on Orbis, was well aware of the Pordish and Mri prowess in war. Instead of rushing out to meet them at the beaches, he decided to use numerical superiority, and home advantage to the Mayan Benefit... For the Maya, they had not yet established surface dwellings yet, and as such, their forces remained underneath the earth and mobile.

Kabil Ix ordered for the full withdrawal of all forces in the eastern province, with the very base Javelin itself seeping into the mantle and moving westward. While this took place, the central province's forces began amassing along the Provincial borders. Three Million Warriors, Ten Thousand Transports, Twelve Thousand Escorts, Six Thousand Armoured Artillery, and Three Hundred Carriers, ammassed along the provincial border and began the establishment of a fortified front. In the Western Province, similarly sized forces began to move toward the Eastern Front, with the intent to establish a secondary Front behind the first.

Near the Ruins of Crystal City

The command to retreat did not sit kindly with many of the Nakbe warriors in the eastern province. Sixty Thousand Warriors and accompanying craft, with great zeal and haste, made way to the ruins of Crystal City to set up defenses. The Nine Armoured Arty that had accompanied the force began to fire upon the enemy forces approaching the ruins of Mathis, while the rest of the Mayan force coalesced within the City. They were quick to set up their Mobile Defence Units, and link Arrays, but the force had not all arrived at once, and indeed, not all of it had yet arrived at all.

A message was sent to the Pords and Mri: Remove yourselves from Maya Territory, or declare your intent for war.
A short, but to the point declaration from the unruly force at Crystal City.

Near Crystal City

A gunship explodes in dramatic fashion, catapulting its contents down towards the cold, hard, dirt. The flaming wreck careens out of the sky as the first signs of enemy artillery fire begin to pick up. The gunship pilots, mostly concerned with the overall lack of concentrated sheet AA, are somewhat relieved. Array defenses begins to go to work, and the vast disparity in firepower between the fewer-than-dozen defending artillery pieces and the incoming Nalydian armada is made apparent by the relative failure of subsequent shots directed towards them in bringing down further aircraft.

The lead formation in the pack, the 1st Division-Assault Paramarine, nears the battlezone. Its commander, an aged member of the Old Guard by the name of Heinz Topp, is first to radio back to General Keegan:

We have breached Mayan airspace, Herr General. Jlokstazh Eshirna!

He looks at the map of the battlefield and notes the presence of Mayan forces gathering to contest his men near the next town in the line, Crystal City. Many of the towns and villages in this area already appear to have drawn the ire of the Maya. He would shake his head if he could bring himself to care.

He motions to the ground and the gunship acquiesces. The others in his formation follow his lead. The formation takes up positions slightly northwest of Cotulla, a city to the southeast of Crystal. The infantry begins to dig in and establish positions for artillery while initial prongs of armour - PTM-1 type hover tanks - start preliminary scouting of the hostile positions. Small PBA probes can be seen dotting the skies while Cholanrüchen gunships screech and howl through the mist, searching for targets in the open, and when found, they unleash torrents of Array fire and drop off Strint torpedoes.

While the heavier batteries prepare and the tanks begin to move, the Chlümüchgrazhni gunships that ferried the force into the field, now without task, retrain their attention to the town of Crystal City: after dropping off supplies, men, and equipment, they return to the skies and begin to shell the city and conduct counter-battery fire with their underfuselage howitzers.

In response to the Mayan request: We are now engaged in a state of war. Signed: Generalleutnant of the Voznayte Rekazhgrazhni Zhamra, commander of the 1st Division-Assault Paramarine, Heinz Topp.

Uvalde, Leaky, Encinal

Paramarines of VII Korps near the city of Uvalde (north of Crystal City) while elements of XIV Korps approach Encinal.

XIV Shock Korps accompanies the northernmost Paramarine force while VIII Shock Korps is with the Paramarines of XIV Korps.

XXIX Korps covers the space between Uvalde and Encinal with I Korps, LXIX Korps, XLIII Korps and XX Korps supporting.

Unsurprisingly, the bulk of the Pordish forces have not yet landed, however scans have begun to implicate the positioning of the Mayan army. Mass disturbances to the west of the current VRZ and ZJR locations indicate a large force is approaching, and their extent is taken into consideration. To the west of  Encinal but still not yet on top of the provincial borders, a trio of Cholanrüchen gunships extends out in front of the main force. They scout the area and will report back what they find.

The Ruins of Mathis to Crystal City

The First Battalion hit the ground with no resistance and immediately called for the second division to begin its descent into the city. The first Battalion consisted of some 17,561 Kel'ein in bioweave nanite armor. They carried MAR-4.2s and moved with a great deal of speed. Along with them, 100 JAPs were set up in the Ruins. Their range would permit them to cover the advancing forces for the majority of the campaign before they would have to be moved. The mechanized portion of the First Battalion consisted of 1000 Toxin Tanks, 2500 Spirit Mechs, and 4000 Nantuko Mechs. With 500 of the Tanks and 100 of the Nantukos left behind to guard the JAPs, the rest press forward preparing to assault the Mayan Positions at the ruins of Crystal City. The town itself looked as if it had tried some kind of armed resistance and failed terribly. It was about to look worse as 20 of the JAPs opened up on it. With the infantry and their mech support closing in on the town.

They saw and felt the impacts as the 150cm artillery shells slammed into the ground. They knew the receiving end of those shells was one of the most terrifying sights and sounds that could be seen. All of them had run the simulations in which they fought resistance elements within their own military. And every one of then has had to face the onslaught that even one of the JAPs sends your way. A sound that could be equated to an old style rocket taking off. The impact felt like the epicenter of a continent crushing earthquake. As they reached their firing lines they lifted their MAR-4.2s and their suits began giving them anything that appeared to be a target. They opened fire, using the destroyed buildings on the outskits as cover as they advanced into the city.

Skies above

The anti-air artillery shells exploded among the fighters and Locust fighters, however. A few of the Locust were hit and dropped towards the ground. From above, the sight of the battle was not so fierce as it appeared from the ground. They spotted for the first of the strikes from the Pliith Cruisers. A single missile each launched into the sky before splitting. the 35 missiles split and 350 amber streaks fell towards the borders of the Eastern and Central Territories aiming for the assembling Mayan warriors.

South of Crystal River

The second Battalion landed here and began setting up defenses. The unit was mainly infantry, but also consisted of heavier mechs. 23,000 Kel'ein, 2197 Spirit Mechs, 364 Blood Asp Mechs, and 3000 Nantuko Mechs set up a defensive position from Carrizo to Asherton to give them defenses against any coming attack.

Crystal City, Rogue Forces

Transports and Escorts unleash furious streams of Liquid Gold and Silver upon the incoming fire. The streams whipped violently, creating a web of defensive fire, as the forces attempt to deny as much incoming fire as possible. The MDU's assembled just in time, Crystal City is littered with Repulsion Fields, Mictlan Shielding, Atmospheric Conditioning, as the force links arrays. Many of the incoming explosive munitions were taken down well before contact, their explosive force and derbies shot violently outward by the repulsion fields.Though the defenses were holding strong, the Maya were caught with many of their troops not fully assembled and outside Crystal City.

The forces unlucky enough to not have joined, were caught in a hellstorm of enemy fire, suffering high casualty margins. Though under the surface of the earth, they were much higher than usual, as they had begun to make assent to Crystal City. Many craft mere dozens of meters from the surface, the earth shattering firepower cause havoc among the straggling craft, rending dozens inoperable, or outright destroyed, and hundreds in critical state as they made desperate haste to dive away from the barrage.

Inside the city, the bombardment was wreaking havoc, sending warriors flying about from the explosions, and impacts. Luckily for the Warriors, the shockwaves of explosives that had managed to break through the defenses were mitigated by the myriad of defenses, and mostly served to scatter formations... The heavy, solid slugs, however, wreaked intense destruction where they managed to impact with proper force. Causing many warriors too close to the impact zones to die inside their Armour, despite the array holding up, turning them into something resembling potted meat inside of their Power Armoured Shell, while those hit dead on were vaporized by the impact. While the enemy Arrays were largely weakened, especially with the Mictlan Beams and Shields rending the incoming fire as sheer metal and kinetic force. While the repulsion fields did their work, the continuous pressure of the array caused it to do the most damage, with many Repulsion Turrets being allocated to desperately redirect fire to minimalize casualties.

Many of the formations were in disarray as the Mri Mechanized Forces advanced. The infantry took to ground as the incoming fire rained. Luckily the Mri forces had not yet crossed the Repulsion fields, heavily mitigating the speed of the incoming fire, and throwing off it's aim. More concentrated Repulsion Turrets even managed to push away some of the incoming fire. Those manning the Repulsion Turrets prioritized heavier munitions.
Not satisfied with merely taking a beating, the forces returned fire in kind. Local Escorts, and Transports that could be spared formed up and unleashed Streams of Gold and Silver, as well as fierce beams of Mictlan Energy, while Firing Anti-Heavy Armor Kinetic Javelins at the Mri Tanks, and Mechs. The infantry dug in, and unleashed Mictlan beams from their Maces, spraying down advancing enemy formations, while others unleashed Anti-Light Armor Kinetic Javelins from their Atlatl's. All of the outgoing munitions sped up drastically as they hit the repulsion fields, which ushered them forward with force, as troops in Crystal City moved to reinforce the troops fighting in the direction of the Mri advance.
So far, the exchange with the approaching Mri was in the Nakbe's favor, but time was of the essence. The artillery pieces redirected their fire towards the advancing Mri, hoping to do as much destruction as possible before the distance could be closed.

Texas Border, Mayan Front

Having successfully assembled, the Mayan Forces rather handedly dealt with the incoming Mri missile fire with their abundance of counters and defenses. Rather insulted by the gall of the Mri's lackluster attack upon the Front, and seeing their brothers in Crystal City in duress, the front opened fire with the weight of thousands of artillery pieces at the mobilizing Pordish Forces. In addition, the front launched intense barrages of Kinetic Javelins, and Metal Streams at Mri and Pordish air assets.

Behind the lines, forces from the East, and West, began to group up and made preparations for the formation of a secondary front. But all was not well, the Nakbe warriors were growing impatient at the defensive strategy of Kabil Ix. Many saw the rogues in Crystal City as the height of the Maya Warrior Ideal, as restlessness set in with the entrenched forces along the front.

Northern Front

Uvalde; Leaky

VII Korps and XIV Shock Korps speed past Uvalde to arrive at Leaky and then take the opportunity to turn west. XIV Shock Korps zooms further past VII Korps to deploy on their northern flank; both corps set their eyes on a town near the provincial borders: Del Rio. XIV Shock Korps includes veteran formations from the Caedis Wars. Among them are the 224th "Guards" Division-Chünezhnar and 12th "Guards" Division-Chünezhnarchonzherte. To their south are the similarly experienced Pords of the VII Korps; notable formations include the Nave'an brigades of the 14th "Guards" Division-Assault Paramarine "Siege of Hui" and the 15th "Guards" Division-Assault Paramarine "Ghosts of Farai."

With the Korps still airborne, they zoom onward before coming under heavy anti-aircraft fire. The skies are drenched in enemy ordnance and the escorting Cholanrüchen type gunships, now with task, sprint out to meet this new threat. Heavy 2,000kg SuR bombs, calibrated for atmospheric usage and thus travelling at considerably less impressive velocities than .9c, are soon loosed in response (as well as a veritable hailstorm of Strint torpedoes and Array fire) - all concentrating on the northern sector of the Mayan forces along the borders.  Behind the now aggressive escorting gunships, the Chlümüchgrazhni types settle on the ground to disgorge their men and equipment, having been forced down considerably west of Leaky but still nearly sixty kilometers east of Del Rio. Tens of dozens of craft can be seen on fire or dropping out of the sky while even smaller dots - men, perhaps - trail behind them.

Central Front

Crystal City

Jlokhemit's Trident! Heinz Topp exclaims as he observes the situation. The Mri assault has begun and they are throwing themselves against the enemy with a vigor not seen since the days of FB-1. They have made first contact. Lucky bastards, he notes to himself in a low voice.

Above him, thousands of guns echo in concert as they unleash torrents of hatred upon the Mayan positions; the Chlümüchgrazhni gunships, large enough to haul an infantry squad or move entire vehicles, are both numerous and dangerous. A few enterprising pilots, upon seeing the effects of the hostile repulsion fields, take it upon themselves to close even further with the enemy. As they tear through the column above the enemy formation it seems almost as if the ground infantry can just about discern the faces of the Pords piloting them through their shielding and thick canopy bars; the gall is near palpable as more than a few attempt to push their way through the offending fields...

But now, with his division fully deployed, he take solace in the fact that his will be the first Paramarine formation to make contact with the enemy. He knows he won't have this luxury for long (even as he considers such things three more Paramarine divisions - the rest of I Paramarine Korps - deploy in a great semi-circle around the city leaving the only a single path of entry or exit: a narrow strip that heads southwest), but it is a luxury he enjoys nevertheless.

Voznayna, he orders his tanks.

At the front the leading Paramarine tanks begin to behave differently. At first it likely would not be easily detected, but as more time passes, it becomes clear that they are no longer scouting and probing. Torrents of combined Array fire streak down from above the Mayan positions, courtesy the previously deployed PBA probes, from armour that is easily beyond visual range and speeding along at considerable clips. They had already scouted the hostile locations. Now, with this information, they direct ordnance down upon the enemy with exceedingly accurate fire. But they are to the south of the city and slowly begin advancing towards it, heading in a general northern direction via great zig-zagging tracks that take them west, and then east, and then west.

Speeding in behind the Paramarine tanks are infantry clad in heavy Amaruq power armour. They lug with them heavy weaponry: 45mm machine cannons and 65mm canister autorifles. For the most part they are carried by very low flying Voznay type IFVs, but others seem to have hitched rides with the tanks operating further forward. For the first time in the battle, the distinctive crack! of heavy Nalydian infantry weaponry can be heard as the Paramarine squads - moving in very loose order - close in on hostile positions towards the furthest extents of the ruins of Crystal City. But the opposition would not see their blue trim nor their capes or steely armour plating. To them the Pords and their vehicles would be but dark spectres, invisible to thermal sensors and free from naked eye spotting, concealed within the dark, putrid cloaks of their Arrays.

At the rear of the initial prongs of the Pordish assault, lighter infantry finish establishing the artillery base Generalleutnant Topp previously ordered. Heavy Array shielding hems the firebases in and beneath the dark sheaths sit rows upon rows of Chorzherov and Reknugrazhni type artillery pieces. With the VRZ assault beginning in earnest, these pieces saturate the battlespace; the superdense plasma shells of the Chorzherovs streak towards Crystal City, their size and weight easily mistaken for standard kinetics. But upon impact the truth is revealed: they are superheated plasma pressurized to such a degree within their casings that the shells are equivalent to kinetics in density and heft, but explode with the relative ferocity and heat of the interiour of a star. Supporting these mobile artillery pieces (who fire off rounds in sections of four, relocate, and then fire again) streams of missiles are loosed into the skies; they arc high above the deployed armies and then crash down - tens of thousands per wave, with seven or eight minutes of down time between salvoes as haulers and infantrymen hurriedly reload them.

Southwestern Front

Encinal

The trio of Cholanrüchen gunships power through the air column well in advance of the Nalydian armada to the west of Encinal, nearly right on top of the provincial borders. They duck into a cloud bank and then emerge on the opposing side. Passing forty thousand feet, they focus their sensors on the soil and ground.

Looks like we've found the whole Jlokhemitdamn Mayan army, one calls to the other through comms.

You've got that right, the second replies.

A communique is sent back to General Keegan detailing the expected size of the hostile army. Keegan doesn't reply to them directly, but does notify his corps commanders of the development. He tells them to be careful, but as per usual they are given discretion on how to operate. They need only accomplish his overall objective; how they go about doing that is entirely up to them.

The lead plane shudders and explodes and begins to limp out of the sky. The second ship in the formation pulls up alongside it; the second ship's pilot peers inside and can see the navigator is dead and the pilot appears to be unconscious. He shakes his head and pulls away as the Mayan anti-aircraft fire begins to open up in earnest, blanketing the sky with vast swathes of gold and silver.

They watch as the Mayan fire intensifies and legions of heavy gun batteries open up on the forces now assaulting Crystal City; they but catch glimpse of the technicolour array of defenses going to work in protection of those forces - PBA probes, perhaps even more numerous than the Mayan artillery now directed at the Pords, heavy static shielding, and shepherd gunships detaching themselves from the main force. They can only imagine the level of firepower successful in breaching them. Through their comms they hear calls for counterbattery fire as they cycle through channels and explosions go off in the background. But from their distant vantage point, they are unable to ascertain as to the effectiveness of these new enemy batteries.

Nevertheless, they are soon rejoined with the primary Nalydian aerial armada, now under heavy fire as well. And as happened further north, the hideous wall of anti-aircraft fire is much too treacherous to actually advance through. They come upon the landing zone of the southernmost corps in Keegan's army, XIV Korps and VIII Shock Korps, and gaze upon the machine-like precision with which the gunship pilots drop off their cargo and return to the skies to fulfill even greater duties, and they admire ballet-like gracefulness of the blue-clad Paramarines and azure-robed Yamsai'an Guard as they assume their positions and work feverishly to bring Array shielding online.

Assault on Crystal City

The return artillery fire began landing among the Mri forces. Bodies went flying as heavy shells exploding wrecked havoc with the infantry, however, the mechs were equipped with their own shields. Similar to how the enemy slowed incoming fire, the shields of the mechs slowed the slugs from their opponents. Direct hits by artillery however, were still enough to knock out the light and medium classification mechs. Broken mechs and dead bodies lay in place as the next artillery barrage from Mathis crashes falls on their opponents and they rush forward. The Nantuko and Spirit mechs transitioning to gunship mode to advance across the no man's land and provide cover for the infantry.

As they pass through the repulsion fields, their casualty count increases from the closeness of fire, but this also permits them to open up on their enemies from much closer range. The Force Beams of the Nantuko mechs are activated and sweep across groups of enemies and structures. Missile pods also launch amber streaks of plasma missiles at the armored positions. The Spirit mechs take action against the repulsion turrets and artillery. Electronic Counter Measures are deployed to interfere with the electronic targeting of the repulsion turrets while plasma missiles and Gravitational Warp Missiles target the Turrets and Artillery leaving the Nantuko to deal with the infantry. Unfortunately, no Toxin tanks on the front survived the crossing or the bombardment previously, but those in Mathis with the JAPs have yet to see battle.

The infantry themselves, with a much clearer path are able to advance into Crystal City and start facing resistance. At such close range,  are forced to draw their Av-Kel blades while keeping 5 members of each squad with their MAR 4.2 ready to go. Wherever they met the enemy, Blades clashed and rifles echoed as more and more units switched to full swords and engaged the enemy in full on Melee to clear them from damaged buildings and bunkers. At this close range weaponry simply could not deal enough damage to either side to be lethal.

Low Orbit, 100 Miles East of Crystal City

The IKN Task Force comes to a halt and takes aim at the enemy main force. The Oni faced the enemy lines and opened fire with weapons that were permitted, as some were locked due to proximity to the surface (5km). Swarms of missiles flew from the missile racks as they quickly exhausted their entire rack of H-Planet Class Anti Matter missiles (43 Mt yield) towards the enemy Main army. As per IKN standards, a missile swarm is launched with brief periods of respite between waves (64,000 missiles per wave. 13 Waves. 1.7 seconds between waves. Total Bombardment time: 22.1 seconds)

The Gwarm Cruisers moved to support the Battleships. With weapons also primarily locked so as to not accidentally use them in atmosphere. Their GWMs were perfectly functional and they fired in a similar fashion to the Oni Planet-Class AM. (Gravitational Warp Missiles directed at the shields and their generators. (4000 missiles per wave, 13 Waves. 1.7 Seconds between waves. Total Bombardment time: 22.1 Seconds)

South Western Front

The Zahe Mri, Second Battalion continued to dig in. They managed to erect their own shield using Swarm Probes to emit energy fields to provide protection against artillery strikes as the Kinetic barriers given off by the probes could significantly reduce the kinetic energy of oncoming projectiles. They simply waited for orders, however they were notified that they would be joined by the Gold Legion, serving as the primary battle unit once combat was joined.
