Thalmor Posted June 1, 2016 Share Posted June 1, 2016 Earlier this year, the Kingdom of Rothlo, located on Sardinia and Corsica, was declared a failed state internally by The Evenstar's government due to a government collapse that occurred over a year ago (Orbis time). As it was not expected for the Rothlian government to effectively reestablish order for quite some time, The Evenstar Intelligence Department deemed it a humanitarian mission to annex Rothlo in the mean time: Today, on September 28th, about 7,000 personnel left Opeck to take part in the annexation of Rothlo. About 3,000 were assigned to both the northern and southern halves of the island, whereas the last 1,000 went to Corsica. The goal of the operation was to establish fortifications and military telecommunications in each major city, and then hand out supplies and restore utilities to each major city. It is hoped that the Medical Support Companies will assist with the disease rate before long. As Rothlo lacks a military, there was little expectation of resistance. However, a combination of nationalist elements and criminal organizations came together to fight Evenstar military personnel on all 3 provinces. So far, 21 Evenstar soldiers have died, and another 36 have been injured- 7 of whom critically. By 2005 (Orbis time), it is estimated that over 20,000 Evenstar Army personnel will be deployed in Sardinia and Corsica. Administratively, Sardinia will be placed under military law until the situation is improved dramatically. Corsica, however, will be allowed to be under local rule (with minor support from The Evenstar). __________ OOC: Rothlo has been inactive since April 17th, so I thought this would be fine. Furthermore, the way I'm doing this makes it easy to rollback should Rothlo, very unexpectedly, return to P&W and try to RP here.
