The 4th ID’s headquarters will deploy from Fort Carson, Colorado to support Operation Arctic Sentinel. The main objective of Operation Arctic Sentinel is to secure the newly discovered oil deposits at the Arctic. Currently, 1,200 troops have been deployed to protect and secure oil exploration by US private companies. The troops are also intended to maintain control over the North Pole. USAF will also deploy 5 F-22 Raptor to secure the airspace as well. The operation is expected to expire within 30 days. After the operation expires, the Army will be replaced with private security contractors.
