@Abbas Mehdi@Prefonteen, wake the !@#$ up, we need to do the same stuff we did with @Prefontaineback in late 2017 / early 2018.

So far you all have answered something around The Syndicate being involved in one side or another...what makes a lot of the conflict center around them? Leaks? Drama? Just unprovoked hits?
Well, they're one of the historic alliances of P&W that are still around, the other 2 being Rose and TKR. You also have the likes of Guardian, but they're not as large, and are usually low profile, not necessarily making power plays, but being involved in pretty much every global war nontheless.
Essentially t$ became the most influential alliance in the game after a war called Oktoberfest, where UPN were their biggest rivals. From then on, Syndisphere became the dominating sphere in the game, even though their enemies usually outnumbered them. t$, Mensa, TKR, BK and Guardian were all in the same sphere, and all of them were good at war.
Then TKR outgrew t$ and became the main powerhouse in the game till Knightfall, where the psheres looked a bit different. Afterwards we had NPOLT, which was the war where NPO tried to cheat their way into winning the game, failing miserably. Since then, the aforementioned historic powerhouses (Rose, t$ and TKR) continued being the most influential alliances in the game, although t$ went through a rough patch pretty much till their current leader Tarroc took over.
Finally, during the past few years, Eclipse emerged as one of the main alliances in the game, consistently being the most successful big alliance, having only lost 1 war so far.

In terms of the alliances that have fought each other more often, Rose and t$ are probably the biggest historical rivals on Orbis. However, TKR and Rose have duked it out quite a lot as well.
In terms of current power dynamics I'd say it's more or less a competition between Eclipse, Rose and TKR, where Eclipse have consistently been better for a while now.
The current meta is pretty interesting, since there's 5 alliances that are able to make power plays: those 3 + Singularity and t$, which is a much better situation than the bipolarity we had when NPO were around.

Max bet is currently 250k.
That's not too bad, actually. Although for bigger nations it's still a small amount.

Only solution I see is raising the max bet, since 10k is peanuts.
Other than that, just introduce new games, which has been suggested multiple times but Sheepy doesn't seem interested.

This reminds me of the beloved "Nuke @Abbas Mehdi" yearly pnw tradition, which sadly disappeared.

The more blocs, the merrier. Good luck with this.

Adrienne led TKR during their toughest period, where they lost a bunch of wars, and kept them together through it all. They're a much better alliance for it, and tremedously resilient - one of pnw's historic giants with t$, Rose and more recently Eclipse.
I'm sure you'll do a great job. Congrats to the retired Canbec and condolences to the new leadership.

Interesting post.
I definitely agree with your assessment regarding the 5 most powerful alliances, since they're the ones who can make power plays. Honorable mention to KT who are also very proactive in starting conflicts, but they just don't have the numbers the others have, mainly Rose, Eclipse, TKR and Singularity.

We must discuss this technology on the weekly grumpy msn messenger call to see if we may finally retire the IRC. I can't imagine it's much better but everyone must keep their minds open.
I thought you guys at Grumpy communicated via carrier pigeon.

Join NPO - 100/100 taxes and they even play the game for you.

The opinion of a member of a Pokemon themed protectorate of t$ and Oblivion, which appears to get raided about as often as it raids, is dulling noted.
What does the theme have to do with it? Glad it bothers you, hope you keep enjoying it.
Just remembering when we at Oblvion kept rolling WTF when we were outnumbered 2:1 and significantly out-tiered. You should probably worry more about helping your alliance not get rolled so often and worry less about other alliances' themes.
Merry Christmas bud.

Honestly I have respect for WTF, they've been a glorified punching bag for so long but they stick around.
Shows character, on top off the incompetence to keep getting rolled, but respect for the resilience nontheless.

Milcom is fun for the target lists, although it can be tiring if there's too many nations involved. I don't care much for the spy op allocation related stuff though.
FA is very fun if you have the right mindset, like not taking things personally. IA is easy and could be done by a monkey. Econ is simply a huge pain in the ass for me and I'm glad other people enjoy it / don't mind doing it.

As has always been the case, best way to leak is still through alternative accounts. Doubt anyone is surprised, lol.
I'm old-fashioned, so for me the best way to leak is still Sphinx.

PvP poker would be cool. And for the sake of pissing money away, roulette and blackjack too.
Pretty sure more gambling options have been suggested in the past, so idt Sheepy is interested.

I don't think many of us are left that played pre-discord.
Imagine not having used IRC to chat with your fellow alliance members...

Why were you thinking about pnw in the shower?

I only agree with you saying that the war mechanic can be reworked, other than that though I don't agree with this at all.
Removing the whole war system is way too drastic and will eventually kill the community. New players won't be interested in a game called Politics and War with no war.Make some minor changes to war sure but no way should we even think about the war mechanic should be removed
Don't worry friend, people wouldn't be disappointed if you removed war (or politics for that matter) from a game that has both "Politics" and "War" in the name.
Think of it this way: would you be mad if you bought a cheeseburger, and it neither had cheese, nor was it a burger?

Arrgh in particular would approve of that message. I look forward to playing Politics and .
