Ya know, when I shadow dropped my retirement in the DoW for Total Drama Orbis I got a pretty wide range of responses right away. Naturally the "congratulations on your retirement" messages first, any self respecting FA head has a macro for that set up on their keyboard. But shortly after that I think people started learning about it via an elaborate game of telephone. The vibe went from congrats on your retirement to omg are you deleting? are you dying? can i come to your funeral? real fast. Just to clarify again, I'm only retiring from gov/leadership positions permanently and nuking temporarily. To y'all's delight and/or dismay I'm not going anywhere just yet. Figured I'd write up a post to talk not just about why I'm retiring (boring) but also look back on all the wacky hijinks I got up to and my future plans (fun & exciting). This post ended up being very long so feel free to skip to specific sections. Retirement (zzz boring) I've been involved in the gov side of this game for around 6 to 7 years now. I've had a lot of fun with it. Gov "voice" chats at 3 in the morning, training people up from newbies and watching them go on to get leadership positions of their own. Wheeling & dealing with negotiations, putting on extravagant events. if you're reading this and you haven't tried being gov in your alliance yet, you should really consider it. There's a reason people make such a big deal about both being & leaving gov. As many good times as I've had, it's something I'm ready to move on from. Being gov can be a lot of fun, but it does come with a whole lot of stress factors. You can mitigate them by spreading out the labour load, but if you're like me and can't stand to see something that needs doing and not doing it yourself, you're bound to burn out eventually. Anyone who's had the pleasure of sharing a gov chat with me can tell you that I've been known to be a tiny little bit neurotic sometimes, which doesn't make for the best combination with the whole super dedicated work horse thing. So, in the interest of not kicking the bucket in my 20s, now seemed like a pretty good time to pass on the torch. Hype Moments & Aura Now we're on to the fun stuff. Get yourself a nice drink while I regale you on my awesome tales at sea. Only the tales at sea. If you were hoping for cam era tales I'm sorry to tell you but they have all been thrown into the incinerator. The Awards Arc This was one of the earliest ones if I recall. It started during the 2022 P&W Awards. They were hosting category nominations and @Certified War Criminal innocently submitted "Best War Criminal". Most would take this as a joke based on his name, but after having nuked people for about a year at that point, I figured I'd be a shoe in for it if it got accepted as a valid category. Fast forward to the final phase of voting and... I didn't even make the top 10 for it. It was a real bummer, but also a learning experience. Come the 2023 awards I embarked on an aggressive campaign for the award. My strategy? Simple, nuking every alliance representative in my range with the war reason set to "For your voting consideration: Hatebi, Best War Criminal". This ruffled a few feathers, but did lead to me getting both Best War Criminal and Best Villain. It was such a success that I did the exact same thing for 2024. That might have worked a little too well though, since I ended up winning like 7 awards. The Ad Arc This one was quite a while ago. It started after I ran the "New FA Head Wanted" ad for T$. Little known fact, but I didn't actually make that one. Someone had hit me up and asked if I could run it for them. It was a really funny ad, so naturally I said yes. It did inspire me to make a couple of my own. The "grumpy is now accepting new players" and "TKR RoI wanted poster" ones were both hatebi originals. They were pretty big hits, believe it was the grumpy one that won me best ad of 2023. Being able to run random "attack" ads is one of the many upsides of being a pirate. Try that as a rank and file in a standard alliance and you might be waking up to a real stern DM from your local IA head. Contracts While people usually over estimate how many of my nukes are paid, I did get quite a few month long contracts. These were usually 30 nukes and 60 missiles, but got bumped up to 30 and 90 towards the end. Alliances lucky enough to experience a full on carpet bombing include Camelot, Carthago, The Commonwealth, Serene Wei, Weebunism, The Golden Horde, Pokimans and a half length hit on GATO. If I had to guess, those probably would have netted me a bit over 6, maybe a bit shy of 7 bil. All of these contracts came with their own mini damage sheets. For whatever reason, every single time I took on a big contract, a bunch of nuke beiges would not be far behind. Not naming any names, but some of these alliances had like 10+ people lose to a 0'd nation armed only with cherry bombs. The Wheel of Misfortune This was the first Arrgh event that I was at the helm for. I wanted to try something new after we'd put on a couple of more standard nuke auctions. I was inspired by Dicey Dungeons (cool game check it out after you're done reading this). Specifically, a wheel that gets spun after every run. It's purely cosmetic and always lands on the worst section. For the actual event, we had a big wheel with 100 slots. You could pay 100M to add an alliance of your choosing to the wheel, with whoever it lands on being our nuke target. The entire wheel sold out shortly after the half time report, netting us a record-shattering 10B. We spun it to a live audience of 40-60 people, with it's target being Singularity. This was a real fun event, it even lead to some people calling all of our stuff "wheels" even when they didn't actually involve any. The war performance was a bit lacking though, so I made sure to lock in for our next one. The Voting Game My personal favourite of the trilogy. We put up a poll of 10 alliances and asked people to vote out the alliances they didn't want to see nuked. This was in direct response to NAPs at the time, which started to directly mention not hiring mercs. The participation levels were crazy, with over a thousand people coming out to vote. After 3 rounds of voting (and a brief intermission when we got decced on lol) The Immortals were left as our nuke target. We earned like, 17B or something from the event and performed much better in the war. Total Drama Orbis The one we just wrapped up a few days ago. Putting on this event was actually my entire reason for becoming Grand Admiral. I titled my mutiny post "Third Act Twist" as a bit of foreshadowing that this would be the grand finale. While it did get delayed for ages and people ended up being a little too good at the three different rounds, I think this was my most ambitious and successful event. The collab aspect ended up leading to a bit of a revival in political discussion, which I was real happy to see. Future Plans Just because I won't be touching gov work with a 10 meter poll doesn't mean that I'm not cooking anything up. Here's the deets on my current project and a sneak peak on what I plan on doing after. The Hatebi World Tour Not really a big reveal since I've mentioned this a few times, but I'm going on tour! Throughout my run in Arrgh, I've received poaching attempts from almost every alliance out there. Some of y'all will take literally any opportunity to shoot your shot. Asking me why I'm hitting them? Poaching attempt. Trying to hire me? Poaching attempt. Any conversation longer than 5 minutes? You better believe it's ending with a poaching attempt. After enduring so many, I figured I might as well give the people what they want. For the next year, I'll be joining a new alliance every month or so. We'll be aiming for around month in each, but some may be cut short to make room for more alliances (or if the taxes are too high/ the vibes are awful lol). The first stop on my adventure across Orbis is Event Horizon, with a few other alliances being lined up for the future. If you'd like me to make a stop at your place, feel free to hit me up and I'll throw it in the consideration pile. Yes, this is the one chance you're getting to actually poach me for real. A New Kind of Event Once my tour ends in a year from now (June 13th, 2026 to be exact), I'll be returning to my bread and butter nuking. While I'll be sailing solo, I'll still be putting on cool little events. These will be pretty different from the ones you're use to though. Instead of alliances competing to not get their roi nuked into oblivion, individual players will be able to compete in contests for cash prizes! Yes, I'll be taking the majority of the money I make over the course of the world tour and giving it away. I've long said that far too many people only care about making money in this game, so I figured this would be a great way to put mine where my mouth is. Closing Thoughts & Free Prize Wow I don't think you can even call this a wall of text anymore. This is at least a tower of text, maybe a monolith of text by the end. Will try to keep this late part short. - Back when I celebrated 1,000 nukes launched, I gave away 30 freebies. For this one, I'll be giving away a free time capsule nuke to the first 30 people that DM me. What is a time capsule nuke? Simple, you send me a target and I hit them in a year from now. You'll probably forget all about it and receive a fun surprise when your mortal enemy gets mildly inconvenienced. Act fast, this offer expires in 48 hours. - Thank you to all my homies in Arrgh that help run the show and put up with all my antics. As ready as I've been to retire for a while now, leaving y'all behind has consistently been the hardest part to grapple with. Ignore the naysayers, I know y'all are still going to be keeping this game fun and interesting. - Shoutouts to everyone who's participated in one of my events. It'll be rough not putting on any good ones for a while, but I'm looking forward to showing y'all what I've got in the works next year. - I've logged every nuke and missile I've launched during my time in Arrgh. You can check out the full sheet here. Until next time...

Camelot of the Caribbean: Pirates Pay No Debts
Hatebi replied to EpimetheusTalks's topic in Alliance Affairs
That was something else. Camelot didn't have an influence on the alliances chosen for the event (aside from us having to replace them with someone else after we agreed to collab lol). -
The nerve-wracking, spine-chilling, heartbreaking finale... Total Drama Orbis! Welcome back campers! It sure has been an exciting couple of weeks. Over the past 3 rounds we've forged bonds stronger than steel. Yes, I fully expect most of you would be willing to die for your partner if you had to after these trials and tribulations. Luckily, our "winning" team will get the chance to do just that! I say this after every event, but thank y'all so much for your participation and support in these. Some of these games ended up being a little scuffed purely because I underestimated how much you guys would lock in and ace them. Future Arrgh events will definitely either have to be harder or feature something like The Voting Game's gimmick. As far as financial support goes, this was our third record breaker in a row. Across all 3 rounds, this event earned an incredible $30,395,000,000! Speaking of cash, let's see who all those new Extra Points got dropped on. Round 3 Results Last event's round 3 didn't make a dime. Thankfully we've got loads of Extra Points to work with this time. Team Gardening Grandmas - 200 Team Watchful Wardens - 20 Even I'll admit that first one was probably a little overkill, but you won't find me complaining. Overkill as much as you like. Now for our final results. We'll be starting from the top for a little added suspense. 1st Place - Team Gardening Grandmas 99 + 100 + 25 + 25 + 200 = 449 2nd Place - Team Watchful Wardens 100 + 100 + 25 + 25 + 20 = 270 Which means our winner is... Team Crunchyroll & Chill! 97 + 100 + 25 + 25 = 247 Congrats TFP and Weeb! The whole "about to be repeatedly nuked" thing might seem like a bummer, but you're actually the real winners here. What better way to build up the POWER OF FRIENDSHIP than by fighting side by side? By the end you two will surely be the bestest of best friends! Behind the Scenes I always get a lot of questions about these events. If you're the curious type, click here for everything you could possibly want to know about the making of Total Drama Orbis! Decided to put it in a doc so this post isn't a mile long. Might want to read it after, finishing this post though... Announcement #1 You know, for an event based entirely around people being in unlikely teams, it feels a little weird that we're sailing solo, doesn't it? You could even argue that it's a bit hypocritical of us to expect everyone but ourselves to buddy up for this thing. That'd be a dumb argument and I'd have you nuked for making it, but an argument all the same. That said, there might be some merit to that sentiment. Since I'm not one to disappoint, allow me to introduce you all to... Team Squires & Swashbucklers! That's right folks, Arrgh is teaming up with Camelot to dish out the pain to our winning team! Who doesn't love a good tag team cage match? But that's not all. We've wracked nerves and chilled spines, but no good drama is complete without the heartbreaking ending! Announcement #2 After we finish up this event, I'll be retiring from Arrgh (and government/leadership as a whole). There'll be a forum post going up about that some time in the futur- HEY! Put away the champagne, this is meant to be SAD! Anyways tl;dr of that is I'll still be around doing stuff, but I'm permanently retiring from being gov. You'll have to read the forum post when it goes up for the deets. Previous Posts Round 1 Round 2 Round 3 One last time, Arrgh!

Extensions and offshores are not factored in for score, so you won't need to worry about those.
-
Nope. Vacation Mode members and applicants will not effect scoring.

Featuring only pirate-generated content... Total Drama Orbis! Good evening campers! I was going to have a whole spiel about how nice it was to see y'all come together and support your teammates and how great your submissions were, but let's be real, most of them were just AI junk. Slop aside, the thread is sitting at 436 replies at the time of writing this with a total of 386 valid submissions. If you're willing to trudge through the onslaught of 6-fingered retirees and aliens standing stoically in front of eclipses you can find some real gems in there. You can find some of my personal favourites here, here and here. You can also check out the list of valid submissions here. Round 2 Results Extra Point reveal time! Might want to hold on to something for this one. Team Snow Birds - 122 Team Gardening Grandmas - 60 Team First Contact - 21 Thank you for your generous contributions. This should be enough to keep the Arrgh rum chest full for at least a week. Now for our placements. 5th Place - Team Crunchyroll & Chill 7 Points 4th Place - Team Watchful Wardens 21 Points 3rd Place - Team Gardening Grandmas 105 + 60 = 165 Points 2nd Place - Team First Contact 150 + 21 = 171 Points 1st Place - Team Snow Birds 103 + 122 = 225 Points What a shakeup! Gardening Grandmas losing with 60 extra points? Snow Birds buying more points than they earned naturally? First Contact buying any at all? Now this is the kinda drama we've been hoping for. Once you're done soaking it in, let's check out the final roster and introduce our last game: Team Spirit! How to Play: Team Spirit For our grand finale, our finalists will be tasked with changing their nation flags to that of their partner alliance! So, if you're a member of Rose, you'll want to fly the Grumpy flag, while members of Grumpy will be flying the Rose flag. Teams will earn points based on the percentage of each alliance's membership that makes the switch. Returning to our previous example, if 50% of Rose's members switch and 75% of Grumpy does, their team would receive 125 points. Alliances may also swap their flags with each other for a flat 25 points each. This means the maximum possible score, assuming all members and both alliances switch, is 250 points. Rules - Counting of flags will begin immediately after the 24th's day change (72 hours from now). That said, It is strongly recommended that you do not revert your flag until after the results have been posted. It'll probably take a couple hours to count them all. - Alliances must swap their flags for at least a day to receive their 25 points. - While you can technically still swap your flag to your partner's after the round ends, there's no guarantee it'll be counted. - All decimals in scoring will be rounded down. - Extensions will not be included in scoring. - Vacation Mode members will not effect score. - Update: In the unlikely event of a tie, decimals will be factored in. If a tie still remains, the team with the higher member count will be our target. Buying Points Not confident in the POWER OF FRIENDSHIP? Don't know how to change your flag? Don't fret. We're selling Extra Points for just 60M each! That's 5M cheaper than last round. Yeah it's also like, 10M more than the first but that's just kinda how inflation works ya know? If you'd like to buy some you can do so by DMing me (Hatebi) on discord or by opening a ticket in the Arrgh server. Point sales will close on the 24th's DC (8:00PM EST) so don't wait too long. Schedule Round 1: May 13th DC - May 16th DC Round 2: May 17th DC - May 20th DC Round 3: May 21st DC - May 24th DC Hit Date: May 25th, after DC Reminder: There'll be a 24 hour break in between the end of round 3 and the posting of the results/DoW. Misc. - Full anonymity. The identity of all Extra Point buyers will not be revealed. - Since points are given based on the percentage of your members that swap, alliances with smaller member counts will have a real advantage here. Hint hint. - Aside from buying votes, alliances outside of our finalists will not be able to influence this one. - We'll also be announcing something else in the Results/DoW post. CUTOFF POINT No submissions after this post will be counted for scoring. Tune in tomorrow for the results and the start of round 3!
-
Hey, submissions should be related to your team/partner alliance (in your case Rose).
-
Duplicate post. Hey, submissions should be relevant to your partner alliance (Eclipse in your case).
-
Submissions from teams still in the running should ideally feature the partner alliance (BK for your team).
-
Could you get the image to embed in the forums? Hey, ideally submissions from teams still in the event should feature their partner alliance in some way (in your case WAP). Think you could submit something with them involved? --- Apparently there's a hard cap on how many upvotes you can send in a day. Note that all (valid) submissions up until this point have been recorded.
-
Ideally the submission should be about your partner alliance, but I saw you made like 5 of these so I'll give you the point.

Now with 50% fewer crashes... Total Drama Orbis! Good afternoon campers! We sure did see some high-octane action in Round 1, didn't we? Right towards closing time we had over 130 people refreshing the page at the same time. The strain was so bad that the forums crashed for a bit right before the poll closed. If that's not a ringing endorsement I don't know what is. Who knows what you'll be able to crash after two more rounds of team-building exercises? The test server? The main server? The world economy? The sky's the limit with the POWER OF FRIENDSHIP on your side. Round 1 Results First, let's reveal our secret Extra Points. Team Windrunning Romans - 50 Team Orbital Orcs - 20 Team Watchful Wardens - 10 Look at all those points. Let's see how they mix up our placements. 7th Place - Team Snow Birds 47 - 44 = 3 6th Place - Team Crunchyroll & Chill 35 - 34 = 1 5th Place - Team Gardening Grandmas 63 - 62 = 1 4th Place - Team First Contact 49 - 49 = 0 3rd Place - Team Watchful Wardens 38 - 36 = 2 -10 = -8 2nd Place - Team Orbital Orcs 45 - 45 = 0 - 20 = -20 1st Place - Team Windrunning Romans 54 - 53 = 1 - 50 = -49 Congrats Windrunning Romans and Orbital Orcs, you've won Round 1! Great job to our other teams too, the largest gap only being 3 votes is super impressive. Let's update our team roster and reveal our next game: Fan Art! How to Play: Fan Art This one's real simple. All you've gotta do is reply to this post with a drawing or meme about your partner alliance. Each submission will count as 1 point towards your team. The two teams with the most points at the end of the round win and will be eliminated from the running. There's a few stipulations here, so don't skip over this next part. Rules - Please clearly state the team you're submitting for in your post. If your submission is a bit vague and there's no stated team it won't be counted. - Only 1 submission per person. - No duplicate posts. - Those of you not in one of our contestant alliances may still make submissions, just state which team name you'd like the point to go towards and include a drawing/meme about either or both alliances on it. - Submissions made after May 20th's DC (7:59PM EST) will not be counted. - Valid submissions will be given an upvote, while invalid submissions will receive a downvote. UPDATE: Daily cap on how many posts you can upvote can't keep up with the stream of submissions. All (valid)submissions are being logged in a sheet, only invalid submissions will be receiving a response, be it a reply or a downvote. Buying Points Not one for the arts? Think your meme game is a little weak? Lucky for you, we'll be selling Extra Points for just 65M a piece! A lot of high-end art is just a tax-evading scheme for rich people, so you shouldn't feel too bad about cheating the system yourself. Those of you interested in buying some totally-not-forged art can do so by DMing me (Hatebi) or by making a ticket in the Arrgh discord. Remember, point sales close alongside art submissions at May 20th's DC (8:00PM EST), so don't try to cut it too close! I'll even throw in a signed hatebi original painting with every order. Schedule Round 1: May 13th DC - May 16th DC Round 2: May 17th DC - May 20th DC Round 3: May 21st DC - May 24th DC Hit Date: May 25th, after DC Reminder: There'll be a 1 day break between each round for us to calculate the results, whip up the next forum post and, after the third round, prepare to smack whichever unfortunate team hasn't eliminated themselves. Rounds last for 72 hours each. Misc. - Full anonymity. The identity of all Extra Point buyers will not be revealed. - Talent and humour are very much so optional here, just have fun with it. - While AI submissions are allowed, I will be very disappointed in you if you submit one. - Final hints for the 3rd round: it'll be the easiest for smaller teams and involve a simple in-game action. Only our finalists will be able to compete for points. Previous Posts Round 1

Better late than never, get ready for... Total Drama Orbis! Good morning campers! It's been a little while, huh? Especially considering I said the next big Arrgh event would be soonâ„¢ way back in January. Want to know what happened? Sure, I'll fill you in: YOU GUYS HAPPENED! There's been like what, 5 wars since then? Look, that's just way too many. How can we be expected to put on a show when the stage is already booked 4 months in advance? No, it's clear, we've gone way too far in the other direction on this stuff. Now y'all have too much hate & hostility in your hearts. I'm afraid there's only one cure: the indomitable POWER OF FRIENDSHIP! Yes, this will be the world's first... Team-Based Nuke Event! Meet the Team(s) For this event, every participant alliance will be paired with an alliance they are not currently signed to forming a "team". What does this mean for you? Simple: you and your teammate will effectively act as one alliance for the purpose of this nuke event. Which is to say, if you're the last team left standing by the end, both you and your teammate will be getting nuked! Teamwork and coordination between you and your partner will be essential to getting yourselves removed from the target list. Now, let's meet our lucky contestants! Team Gardening Grandmas Rose & Grumpy Team Snow Birds The Syndicate & Weaponized Assault Penguins Team First Contact Eclipse & Black Knights Team Crunchyroll & Chill The Fighting Pacifists & Weebunism Team Watchful Wardens Spectre & Guardian Team Orbital Orcs Event Horizon & The Sword Coast Team Windrunning Romans The Knights Radiant & The Legion Here's a neat little graphic for those of you in attendance who are more use to picture books than word books. What is a Nuke Event Anyways? If this is your first rodeo, these nuke events take place on the forums and determine who Arrgh's next nuke run target will be. This event will consist of 3 rounds, with each round presenting an opportunity for two of our featured seven teams to be eliminated. After the third and final round, whichever team is left standing will be our target and receive a world-class, once in a generation MEGA BARRRAGE of premo Arrgh nukes & missiles. In addition to the whole team gimmick, we've got a second twist: each round will have a completely different minigame to play! So if your team ends up sucking at this one, you might fair better at the next. We good on the basics? Great, now let me introduce you to our first game: Balance! How to Play: Balance With that out of the way, let's get into the fun stuff. For this first round, you and your partner are going to be tasked with balancing the votes for your team as closely as possible. Using team First Contact as an example, if Eclipse has 30 votes, Black Knights will want their vote count to be as close to that as possible. The two teams with the smallest gap between their votes will be removed from the event and spared a nuking. To prevent any "luigi wins by doing nothing" incidents, your team must have a combined total of at least 20 votes. Anything less and you'll be stuck on the target list. Some quick advice for ya, you can only vote for a single option on the poll. You'll have to decide between either balancing your own team or unbalancing another. Working with your teammates to have a big impact on the votes will be vital. Buying Points Poor balance? Worried someone will mass vote for one of your teammates near closing time? We've got you covered. We're selling Extra Points for the dirt cheap price of 50M each! Purchased Extra Points will automatically go towards whichever alliance on your team has the smallest vote count, bringing the vote gap closer to 0. Once you've hit the perfect score of 0, all remaining Extra Points will bring it into the negatives. If multiple teams hit a perfect score of 0, the team with the biggest negative score will take priority in being saved. If there's still a tie after factoring in Extra Points, the team with the higher vote count overall will take priority. Extra Points will only be revealed at the start of Round 2. Interested in buying Extra Points? Shoot me (Hatebi) a DM on discord or open a ticket in the Arrgh server! Extra Point sales will close immediately after May 16th's DC, so don't delay too long. Schedule Round 1: May 13th DC - May 16th DC Round 2: May 17th DC - May 20th DC Round 3: May 21st DC - May 24th DC Hit Date: May 25th, after DC There'll be a 1 day break between each round for us to calculate the results, whip up the next forum post and, after the third round, prepare to smack whichever unfortunate team hasn't eliminated themselves. Misc. Stuff - Full anonymity. The identity of all Extra Point buyers will not be revealed. - Interested in joining in on the fun? As usual, we're extending an open invitation to temporarily join Arrgh, nuke some peeps, get paid and leave once we're done. - Think the chosen alliances and teams look a little weird? Yeah, me too. We'll be doing a little behind the scenes section in the final forum post, but just to hold you over until then, the team list has been ship of theseused like 4 times since we started planning the event. - Some cool hints for the next games for people who read this section: Round 2 will be easy for teams with large member counts, while Round 3 will be much easier for smaller member count teams. Neither will feature a poll. - Credit for the event artwork goes to my friend reg00 (she also did the art for the Wheel of Misfortune). Alliance portraits were drawn by the very talented @EL DOMO As always, Arrgh!

Hello friends, enemies and everyone in-between! I'm happy to announce that after our most recent mutiny, yours truly has been crowned as the next Grand Admiral of Arrgh! People are calling it "the most peaceful transition of power in Arrgh history" after a serene mutiny that saw just 40 casualties, 7 sunken vessels and the loss of one beautiful scarlet macaw, who will be missed most of all. Some of the landlubbers amongst you might be wondering what this means for you. Your extreme self absorbedness aside, you can expect even bigger and better events coming to a forum near you very soon! How soon? Sooner than you might think. Okay maybe not that soon, but soon enough. Speaking of soon, do you know what's never too soon? Joining Arrgh! If you thought our last event was fun, just wait until you've tried being on our side of it. Now that the plug's out of the way, say it with me... Soon! wait no let me try that again Arrgh! There we go.

Arrghiversary Episode 10: New Pirate Order 10 is a really big number for a pirate. They don't really teach advanced mathematical concepts in pirate school. The curriculum is more focused on different ways to smack someone with something sharp, how to haul treasure without breaking your back, proper parrot care. You know, the important stuff. Besides, eggheads who know what the so-called number "Elevene" is usually find themselves at the pointy end of a rapier. For those of us who use the finger method, 10 is really about as big of a number a you can get, so our 10th anniversary deserves an extra special celebration. First, let's look back on the two super rad events we did this year. Way back in February we did The Wheel of Misfortune. This was the first event I was really at the helm on. Proud to say it didn't flop horribly, something that'll surely be etched onto my tombstone. For those that weren't around for it, The Wheel of Misfortune was a nuke auction where instead of placing a bid on an alliance you wanted us to nuke, you were able to buy a slot on a big wheel out of a total of 100. After a few days, the wheel was spun live in the Arrgh server, with it's winner being our target. We're selling ourselves a bit short with the "didn't flop horribly" line, while slot sales were a bit slow during the first half, the rest of them quickly sold out after the second. We ended up making the maximum possible haul of 10B. Our bar for success was to at least match the haul from our last auction (3B), so more than tripling it was seen as a pretty big W. The live wheel spin went real well too, think we had around 40-60 people watching? That's gotta be at least 5 times the average turn out for most P&W radio shows these days, so we had to be on to something. Those in attendance might remember Kastor's ill-fated call for a "test-spin" which ended up swapping the target from The Immortals to Singularity. Little misfortunate for them, but great for the content. A little more recently, we have The Voting Game we hosted in November. We called this one a reverse nuke auction (which isn't super accurate but we had to put something in the title brackets) since instead of paying to have someone nuked, people could vote on a series of polls to save an alliance of their choosing from being pelted with nukes. The monetization was simple, in addition to the free vote everyone got, you could buy additional votes for a varying price each round. This one was VERY heavily inspired from almost every modern NAP including lame "do not hire mercs" clauses. Formatting the event like this let people get away with paying us with a clear conscious. Despite a few minor inconveniences here and there, I think it's safe to say this was by far the best event we've ever hosted. Well over a thousand people participated in the polls, with the total vote count across all 3 rounds reaching a grand total of 3,289 votes. As for the loot haul, after taking a few unexpected expenditures into account, we walked away with a total prize pool well over 17B, far exceeding our previous record breaker of 10B. This event was a whole lot of fun for us and, as I've been told, most of the rest of the community too. I'm sure the winner, The Immortals, had a real blast with it (thanks for being good sports about it). Sadly we don't have a total monopoly on end-of-year anniversaries anymore. TSC, rather inconsiderately, founded a few days earlier than our anniversary day. As payback, I'll be blatantly stealing the whole "individual gov shoutouts" thing they have going on. Or, as we in Arrgh prefer to call it, "blatantly raiding" it. side tangent: ever notice how despite being called "the sword coast" the swords in question are by far the smallest thing on their flag? meanwhile we have way bigger swords and are at least coast-adjacent. what i'm saying is we're stealing your name next year roberts. For real though, shoutouts to all the homies that helped make Arrgh what it is in the big '24. Vicic - For overthrowing the tyrannical Sam Cooper and being our beloved Red Admiral for most of 2024. Sam - The sea's greatest coder and problem solver extraordinaire. P.S. sorry i called you tyrannical 4 seconds ago. Obsiloon - From one of my first pirate academy pupils to the owner & operator of your own academy, you're the goat at turning scallywags into swashbucklers. Vilktakis - Creator of spreadsheets, reaper of inactives and MS paint master. TheDoom - Supreme Pirate Warlord, you're one of the greatest raiders to ever set sail :pray_doom: Hatebi - By far the most brilliant, indisposable, invalu- okay okay stop booing i'll stop Zim/Ogaden/Bluebear - Even after all of these years we can still count on y'all to roll up when we're smacking someone. Shutter - You are a paragon of reliability. If we need a comically-oversized bomb diffused you're going to be the man for the job. Wuju - If we ever do make the banking leaderboard you've got to be a contender for the top. Shady - For being a huge help with recruitment & internals El Domo - Even though you've only been gov a short while, you've already made amazing contributions. Few people have the talent for propaganda like you do. cctmsp13/im317 - Our favourite Yarr boys, thanks for not bullying me too hard when I req 60 aluminum. Reading up after finishing that last part and wew, I think we've met out yapping quota for the year. You know the spiel by now, Arrgh rulez farmers drool, join immediately and crack some skulls. Now let's wrap up this year with an extra big... Arrgh!

[Reverse Nuke Auction] The Voting Game - Final Round
Hatebi replied to Hatebi's topic in Alliance Affairs
I try to go for a game show type vibe with these (the artwork for the wheel of misfortune even depicted a game show set). I've wanted to do something a little more involved for quite a while, it'd just need a lot of tweaking to get right. I'd imagine most alliances wouldn't be too eager to sign up for an event that'd get them nuked if they lose, and going "we hit you if you don't send anyone" wouldn't be much of a show. This event was sort of a test run for how many people would be willing to participate in something like this. For the next one, we might try something similar, but with more of a commitment than just voting on a poll. -
The not-so-shocking finale... The Voting Game! Results Welcome back! We're finally at the end of our little adventure. Well, you guys are. We still have to go and chunk whoever won for like 20b. A huge thank you to everyone who's turned out to vote for any of these rounds. It's been a whole lot of fun to host (if a little stressful at times lol). Both this event and the Wheel of Misfortune have WILDLY exceeded our expectations for money raised & user participation. We hope this event has been as enjoyable for you guys as it has been for us. Round 3 Results My favourite part, let's see how much money you've thrown at us for extra votes! oh. Moving swiftly on, let's see which of our three finalists get to walk away scot-free! 1st Place - The Sword Coast (393 votes) Wow, they must have rolled a nat 20 2nd Place - Eclipse (366 votes) look i'm really running out of one liners here, let's wrap this up Which means the final alliance left standing on the poll is... The Immortals Congratulations! Please keep switching to Turtle! Arrgh!

Back on the air, it's... The Voting Game! Final Round Welcome back! It's certainly been an exciting past few days, hasn't it? As you've probably seen, some weirdos in knight armour tried to shut us down. Unfortunately for them, heavy armour makes it real hard to swim. Pretty sure most of those guys sank straight to the bottom of the ocean. That was all our doing, of course. I've heard talk about some micro joining in too? Blanking on the name. Daffodil? Tulip? Whatever it was, I guess they can take a tiny bit of the credit. So all the damage you're seeing on Camelot? 95% us, maybe 5% Petunia over there. Anyways, beating up a corpse isn't much fun, so we'll leave that to the kind folks over at Dandelion. That leaves us with our three finalists: Eclipse The Immortals The Sword Coast Congrats/condolences on making it to the final round! This round will work a little differently than the last two, so don't give up hope just yet. Best to save that for if you lose. Final Round Extra Vote Rules By far the biggest request we've received was for the ability to buy negative votes. We're no strangers to fan demand, so for the final round, you'll be able to do just that! Even more good news, the price of buying extra votes has fallen to just 30M per vote. We're practically giving these things away for that price. As for negative votes, those will run ya 45M per vote. I'm really fond of the whole "buying votes for the competition to screw over someone indirectly" concept, so you're going to have to pay a little extra if you want to directly remove someone else's votes. Updated Schedule Voting Round 1: October 26th DC - October 29th, half an hour before DC Voting Round 2: October 29th DC - November 1st, half an hour before DC Voting Round 3: November 8th DC - November 11th DC Hit date: November 12th, following DC. The most important ballot you'll cast all year... The Voting Game! Final Rou- wait a minute who knocked over my stage? Do you have ANY idea how hard it is to find hatebi-sized ships? Most of them are stuck in BOTTLES! Oh, I see. YOU Ladies and gentlemen, leave it to Camelot to trash one of the vanishingly few interesting events this game sees during peace time. You'd think an alliance led by a content creator would be a little more interested in the game having any content, right? Not to mention the whole "guaranteeing a fight vs letting the game play out and potentially (likely) not having to at all" thing, truly a masterful gambit there. Well, maybe "trashed" isn't the right word. The stage? Absolutely, but as they say, the show must go on. Yes, over 1,200 members of the community have voted in the polls. I've received more messages than I can count on how much people have been enjoying this event. Not to mention everyone who's paid a handsome pile of gold to see a good show. It wouldn't be fair to cancel everything just because Camelot wants you to be bored and content-starved. Rest assured, once we're done here, we'll be right back with the true final round. Might be a while, especially if there's a global, but we will be back. The show isn't over, just taking a mid-season break. Now, since I already had the entirety of the original post typed out and ready, how about we take a look at how Round 2 went? Round 2 Results You a fan of big numbers? Well have I ever got a treat for you! The Knights Radiant - 153 The Syndicate - 99 The Fighting Pacifists - 92 Eclipse - 71 First event in history to hit 1 Arrghillion dollars. Let's see our winners! This one's a real nail biter, so you'd better hold on to something. 1st Place - The Knights Radiant (435 votes) Wow, someone really took that checkbook comment to heart. 2nd Place - The Syndicate (372 votes) The brightest light in the darkest hour was actually just a MASSIVE pile of shimmering gold! 3rd Place - The Fighting Pacifists (368 votes) Looks like they won't be fighting this time around. Runner Up - Eclipse (364 votes) They won the forum vote too, that's gotta sting. Previous Rounds Round 1 Round 2
