In other news, a massive military conference/drill is being held in Montana, which officials have decided is the perfect place to train for battling in rough terrain.

The United States sends aid to Malta. The soldiers stationed at the base work alongside the people of Malta to rebuild their homes. We ask Canada to give estimates of the costs involved in this project before agreeing.

The United States begins sending its drill forces to Alaska. The United States demands that all Nazi scientists be handed over for trial by an international tribunal.

The United States asks Malta and Canada to a naval drill, including aircraft carriers, on August 15 in the Mediterranean. It also asks Malta to formally accept the request for an American base in Malta. We would also like to announce a "winter warfare" drill with the Soviet Union in Alaska on August 16. The winter warfare drill will involve the marines and the Air Force.

The United States encourages Malta not to fall for this trick. How often does a powerful nation threaten to invade you, then change its mind and ask if it can station troops in your country to protect you?

(OOC: Yeah, I'm sure. Even if your country doesn't technically know, it's hard to pretend you don't know something when you are doing stuff in this kind of game. It's better to just make it so the OOC person doesn't know it either.

If the UK were to do this, it would greatly decrease the kindness with which the United States is treating its many debts.

The United States reminds all delegates that talks were to be private and asks for Austria to set up the PM conversation.

President Harriman has named controversial communist leader William Foster as the new Secretary of State. The United States accepts the offer and suggests that a drill be held between Canada, Malta, and the U.S. on August 15 (IRL). The United States plans to bring its submarine fleet and aircraft carriers. It also offers to hold a U.S.-Soviet drill that will include the Marines and a large portion of its Air Force on August 16. Further talks will be made privately before the final drill details are announced.

The United States asks that these talks be kept private between the involved nations.

That doesn't mean you get to do it. We simply ignored you. Truman was busy getting re-elected, and Harriman is moving into his office. The United States accepts Malta's offer, if it is still available of course. It rejects Brazil's deal, Harriman has adopted a very popular policy of refusing to sell military equipment to other nations in order to prevent conflict in a world that is desperate for peace. It does, however, offer to establish embassies in Malta (I may have already done that), Brazil, and Canada. In an odd measure, Harriman has pardoned the Soviet guards and allowed them to return home. He would also like to continue the work to strengthen ties between the U.S. and the Soviet Union, recognizing that this was the act of a few deranged individuals who somehow were given a position that involved being armed while inside the White House.

The United States reminds Brazil that it never accepted the deal. In other news, William Harriman has been appointed new president of the United States. He has named Henry Wallace as his vice president, and the Soviets involved in the shooting are awaiting trial. It is still, however, unclear to the American public who fired the shot that killed the president. (OOC: It's agent 69)

You left out the few hundred years where they were the most powerful nation on the planet, possibly the most powerful in history.
