How can you in one sentence praise this treaty as "fluid politics of minispheres" then call it "anti-minisphere" in the next? You need to make up your mind man, is this treaty (and Mystery-Oasis as extension) a dynamic part of mini-spheres or are they both counterproductive and damaging to the concept?
I mean personally by looking at the recent events and the history certain alliances have, the consolidation of spheres isn't going to happen because of a treaty that prevents chaining wars. Because at the end of the day, said treaty only works in an environment where mini-spheres exist. These just aren't mutually exclusive. I don't have to make up my mind about anything. Blocs forming MDPs with each other is something that can only occur within a multisphere world - which is more free - while also being bad for the game.

It's disingenuous to pretend that a simple dislike is equal to lengthy WoT's and some guy dropping one log on his treatise, in terms of investment with regards to the dissent. It doesn't hold water even numerically; Clock represents a disproportionate amount of the public disagreement.I'm sorry that any political opposition more fierce than a forum downvote is a existential threat to The Syndicate. You have my condolences.

TKR's actions nearly half a decade ago is overshadowed by their moves against minispheres in more recent times. Those moves being the formation of Hollywood and this treaty.
If a Pastor went on a mission trip, to then come back home to stop preaching, deal drugs, and commit armed robbery, does his old mission trip mean he's still a man of God? No, it doesn't.
The mission trip was a good thing, sure; as was the formation of Chaos. But I just don't think the past is validating present bad acts.
I also disagree that minispheres is dead. There's 6 distinct spheres. These past two years have had very organic, unpredictable, and fluid politics occur between the spheres. I mean, nobody saw this treaty coming. Nobody saw Mystery-Oasis happening. Nobody saw Guns and Rose happening (or ending) the way it did. Nobody saw Hollywood forming. Nobody saw Quack disbanding. The list goes on. We live in a multisphere world that is far different from the bipolarity of the early years of the game. It doesn't exist 'in theory,' it exists in practice in the present.
Ironically, it's moves like this treaty that are taking steps to end this multipolarity. Very ironic to see people from the same side sticking the knife in and say "oh yeah, crime is getting really bad these days."
And to say that "The whole damn community is against the idea" is completely arrogant. You're not blind. This thread is 14 pages long because there is massive community backlash to this move. I shouldn't have to explain that the leaders and FA heads of t$, Rose, and TKR aren't the whole community. There are half a dozen distinct spheres because the broader community - and political decision makers who weld some kind of power - want and have wanted decentralized, freer politics. Right now, the only people who are acting like they're against multispheres are Celestial and Hollywood- who might have bigger nations on average but are still in the minority of active players.

Huh? Are you forgetting that they also gave it a shot with Chaos? Completely severing all ties they had previously with other alliances in order to do that?
That was over four years ago.

Of course you can join, my friend.

I agree! To my knowledge (as a non-gov member) there is no intent to have a negative/hegemonic affect on the game from either HW or Celestial.
Clock likes to fight. Let's say, for example, they hit HM or Johnsons in 5 months. What stops Celestial and Hollywood from doing this again?

Here's the downvotes on the HollyRo$e's announcement thread:
Here's the upvotes in this thread to Keegoz's OP (after just 5 hours):
This isn't a hard science, but the forum's reputation system is a good way of gauging community response to things. The community seems pretty hard against what y'all are doing, and are pretty happy with what Keegoz is saying.

In this thread, we post pictures of clocks and what we like about them. I'll go first:
I like this clock because it's religious, and I'm religious. It's kinda boomer-like, and that left hand makes it a bit hard to see the 10, but I'm willing to look past that.

I forget exactly what my thought process was, I'm sure there was something brilliant, since I was like 7 cups of coffee by that point of the night, But that's besides the point.
I think some people here have addressed to an extent the issue of the precedent, But I'll give it my best shot. I don't think it will become a precedent due to the fact that it's Not exactly common for this situation to align for it to happen. It happened with Oasis and mystery Inc, if my memory serves, and both got absolutely rocked for it. It's happening right now, because both celestials and Hollywood, are suspicious of Clock.
I wasn't involved in the decision making for this, but I imagine a large part of it was driven by the fact that neither sphere trusts clock, and both expect them, or did expect them at least, to try to do the same thing they did when they fought Oasis, which is beat the hell out of a weak sphere, Make people think that that sphere was the target they wanted, And then when their actual target relaxes, and let's down its guard, they get blitzed. I don't think this is going to become a common thing, because most spheres are not going to try to do what clock did in the past, and most spheres are trusted enough to be taken at their word when they say who their target is.
At the end of the day, to summarize what I'm trying to say, posting on the forums on a cell phone while at work is really annoying, is that this won't become a precedent due to the fact that this is an out of the ordinary situation. Most spheres are not mistrusted to the extent that no one believes what they say, and most spheres are not expected to use beating up on one weak sphere as a distraction to attack a different sphere that was distracted and not expecting war.

Just in this thread, you have Insert Name Here and Indger. Hodor and Buorhann also seem to have some skepticism over it. I'll admit that these 4 are all Hollywood people, and that I don't have anyone from Celestial to point you to, but I stand by my original statement that the irritation is across the community.

29 minutes ago, Tartarus said:Unfortunately, you've completely missed the mark. The communal moaning from Clock in this thread is said 'priceless entertainment', which while I'm sure really ruins any plans these alliances had to statpad and boast about their ingenuity, was pre-empted. And judging by this communal moaning, there were plans to statpad post-haste. I think that's hilarious, too.
I had my fun prior with my low tier trolling, but to those who are seriously butthurt over this public announcement (like hello? pats on the back for transparency please) everyone from HW & Ro$e (Yes, they're still separate spheres. Unless someone is stupid enough to activate this temporary and conditional MDP) is laughing at you. Clock is the laughing stock.
The displeasure is game-wide. People from all spheres and alignments have expressed some kind of negative emotion in reaction to this treaty- including from within Celestial and Hollywood.
Show me on the doll where the time people touched you.

Shameless self-promotion:
Kev, Decagon, Kan, James Wilson, Roberts, and Morf all came onto a special episode of Thalmor Radio tonight to discuss the treaty. It was one of the best episodes in a while, and it has a little bit of everything. Check it out below:

I agree that Clock is very scary and that the only way to be safe from them is to team up with approximately half the gamel; including almost every mega whale in existence.

At the end of the day, Camelot chose to attack us without previous action; we view this, therefore, as an absolutely defensive war.
How do you reconcile this statement with this thread, in which LeiaHair says that FSO declares war on Camelot because of the tax farm allegations?

I am downvoting this because I hate data. We need less information. We need to return to ignorance. Our decisions should be based on gut instinct alone.

On this week's episode of Thalmor Radio, we will be having on WANA as a guest. WANA is t$'s upper gov head of FA. Playing since 2014, WANA has extensive history with the game, and I am very eager to hear his story.
Thalmor Radio is P&W's longest running radio show. Broadcasting since December 2019 and hosted by myself and Zig, we talk about the game, major IRL happenings, and whatever else is on our minds (usually manic, detached petulance). We go live (usually) every Friday at 9 PM EST.

Peace in our Time

You're completely right. I made my first post at six in the morning when I was dead tired, and got my timeline all messed up. It was three years, not four. Thanks for setting the record straight on that.
There is no arguing that everyone in the game outside of Celestial and Hollywood is unhappy with this move (even people in your own bloc have voiced displeasure). Downvotes is one measure, but there's also plenty of discussion on public Discords (DNN, RON, Thalmoria, VGM) of people expressing their frustration from all over the game.
