  1. I pledge allegiance,

    to the flag.

    Of Aurora Borealis

    One empire

under Alex W and Xi Jinping.

    With ROI

    and growth for all.

    Furthermore,

    I am of the opinion

that I will go beyond the Event Horizon

Blasting through the Singularity—like a gale to wilted Roses.

    I stand here now

    Aboard my starship,

    At the helm,

    To conquer unknown frontiers

From this new universe—out of a white hole!

As a nearby Eclipse bears witness to the awe

Of power that dwarfs even mighty Carthago at his peak!

    Aurora forever.

    Into the Event Horizon!

  2. The Story of Aurora:

It all started with Aurora-01 mothership with just two passengers on its board. Their goal was simple - explore the universe and find a new home. The Earth’s wellbeing was at stake, with two opposing factions clashing, one led by Roquentin, a genetically modified guinea pig who dreamt of world domination, and the other, led by the Shining Knights and their corporate shareholders. These passengers, Jack and Maia, were Roq’s ardent supporters, which was their downfall. Leaving the Earth and going into space was the only choice they had, to forget the past and start anew. They found more people who were willing to join their adventure, calling themselves space wanderers, “Aurorians” in their native tongue. They had nothing to call home, except for their spaceship, until the fateful day when it met Proxima Centauri C, the first habitable planet they came across. The old trusty mothership could then retire from its duties. Now, today's Explorers - how we call our leadership - have even more ambitious plans than their successors: It is not about survival anymore. It's our time to claim what is ours and colonize and conquer space.

After NPOLT Aurora's Mothership was badly damaged, they arrived back on Proxima Centauri C. With what remains of the Aurora crew and fleet, they landed and started rebuilding. Jack and Randbeforetime had led and fought a war for nine long months. They knew if nothing changed, Aurora would soon fall, then a few days later, a stranded ship passed by the system sending out a distress beacon. Jack and Rand decided to send a team to check it out. On board, they found Kan0601 and ToxicPepper, the captains of the VooDoo starship. After they were brought back to Proxima Centauri C, Jack and Rand instantly found what they were looking for, hope. With Kan0601's and Toxic's crew and ship, they rebuilt Aurora and recreated the glorious empire.

After years of prosperity, Kan0601 and ToxicPepper grew old and resigned, forging their own paths of new adventure in the unknown reaches of deep space, promoting Alex W and Xi Jinping to be the new Ship Commander and Constellation Commander, respectively.

For an age, all was well for the space empire, as it crushed legions of foes, growing strong, respected, and powerful. Until one day it was noticed, all too late, that the entire Proxima Centari star system was being devoured by an ultra massive black hole—lo and behold, the Event Horizon had been crossed!

"Commander…I don't want to leave Aurora!"

–"We are embarking upon a new journey."

—Final known transmission of the last Division Officer of Aurora, Alexander the Great, aboard the AS Idealistic Texas, to Constellation Commander Xi Jinping

  3. I, as an individual, am deeply honored to have had the privilege of serving under Alliance leaders @Kan0601 and @ToxicPepper. As they step down from their leadership roles in POLITICS & WAR, I want to express my sincere gratitude for the guidance and support they have provided during their tenure. My sincerest wish for them is that they enjoy their positional relief. As for the future, I know that I personally will continue to lead by example and strive for excellence in Aurora. Understanding the importance of unity, we've always strived to create a positive and supportive environment within Aurora. Really, I feel that we have stayed true to our core values and principles. Optimism is key in achieving success, after all! Respect is an important aspect of leadership and you guys earned it. Achieving great things requires hard work and dedication. Supporting each other has been crucial for success. True leadership is about being able to make decisions that are in the best interest of the group. Respectfully, I always strived to work towards our goal of unlocking it, heeding your instructions and will continue to do so. Understanding the importance of efficiency and determination to fulfill our goals is something you guys worked masterfully. Eagerly, we've always awaited the challenges and opportunities you guys have set before us. Leadership suited you two well. Excellence is a goal I know we're going to continue to strive for in our efforts for a brighter future. As a team under you guys, we've been united and committed to our goals. Dedication and hard work were key to achieving the success we have so far (—well, however much "hard work" someone can put into a browser/Discord game 😂). Everybody has a role to play and you guys were exemplary in my opinion. Retirement is well-deserved, Commanders!

I look forward to the future with you guys, @AlexW @Xi Jinping @Franz Steiger!

How's this for shit talking @Xi Jinping?

TLDR: CTO recognizes the hostilities with Midgard, even if your reasoning is bogus.

Glad to see CTO is finally recognizing hostilities instead of continuing the pretense of neutrality.

  5. Interesting developments.  I actually messaged Alex directly about 2 months ago before GWXXIIII and asked about a slot-filling tactic that would be "legal" by the letter of the rules but not the spirit of the rules.  His response was that it was punishable.  It would seem that this situation has hit a fever-pitch now.  I have posted both my hypothetical scenario that I asked him about and his response to said situation.  Granted, this hypothetical is slightly different to the situation at hand (and I was meming when I thought of it) but what I find most interesting is his response.  According to him, any tactic of war in which you are not "expressing intent to win the war" is against the rules.

Preamble: In the interest of peace and mutual understanding, the two parties of Clock and Backroom enter into this agreement. Recognizing that at this time there is no Casus Belli between the two parties and as such in an effort to avoid a needless and causeless war, the two parties agree to enter into a mutual agreement of demilitarization.

Article 1: The two parties, effective of the update of today, June 29, 2022, in game time will not militarize beyond what's a rational MMR.

Article 2: Not dictating what c10's and lower can do, for real, Jesus.

Article 3: During this period of demilitarization in the face of the current ongoing global conflict, the parties pledge to come to the aid of the other if one party comes under the attack of a sphere that is already militarized.

Article 4: This agreement will expire once the current spheres already engaged in hostility have rebuilt and returned to a standard peacetime MMR.   What do I type here that also sounds sort of pathetic?

Yes.  They want our under c12 in a blue alliance to ‘help build brown’ and we are forced to split GATO in 2.  When they say ‘work together to build brown’ that is what they mean…

It’s absolutely true.  Keep watch.  You will see GATO split in half very soon.  You are correct, I did vote against it.

I personally would have fought to the death instead of accepting this shit deal

I guess you just don't really understand that your alliance did "fight to the death"—do you not understand that your highest-rated players were 0'd out being beige-cycled with infra. so abysmally low that we had people up-declaring by 10-15 cities and winning?  Also, chill out with the braindead "forced us to split" b.s. dude—Aurora and Serpentis are the same alliance but on different colors and are only different in-website.  Having your lower city-counts on a different color than higher ones is all-around good stuff.  You're either trolling or truly have no clue what you're talking about and only want to complain.

So why exactly do you have to be such a massive PoS to my alliance mate?
A treaty was kept vague (on purpose quite probably) and asking for clarification what this term meant isn't some crazy ask.

Why is being kind in this community so hard for some people; this isn't Kindergarten and War.

While I agree that being kind is tantamount for a functional and civil society no matter what medium is in use, you also have to understand that a very large portion of Orbis is annoyed by the actions of Rose, HW, and Celestial.  People being tacky after the recent firestorm of b.s. those 3 blocs have vomited up should honestly be expected—even if not warranted.

2a. Eclipse, GATO, and Weebunism mutually agree to work together in the best interest of improving Brown.
2b. CATA, and CTO mutually agree to work together in the best interest of improving Olive.

Sooo—if you were to saaaay, randomly blitz and destroy HollyRo$e for example, that teeeechnically counts as the best interest of Brown and Olive, right?  RIGHT?  Asking for a friend!

In all seriousness though, good fight BR bloc!  'Twas a great war!  Have a good rebuild!

    1. You're forgetting that terrorize also kills some population, which causes a mild decrease is revenue that lasts until that population is recovered.

    2. As is, 50 infra for someone with 2,000 infra is actually about $1m and for someone with 2,500 infra (like me) it's about $1.8m. And that's assuming they have both projects and are on Urbanization policy.

    3. A spy attack being able to take out a quarter of the average player's infra (assuming "average" is 2,000 infra) is literally broken and idiotic.

And I don't think it should be removed from the game. It may generally be a fairly useless espionage operation, but it's an option to have and I'm never really opposed to options.

Forgetting?  No.  I had no idea at all and it's not mentioned anywhere!  That's not bad in that case!

  11. So for years now there has been an almost universally bad Espionage option that has no business being in the game in its current iteration.  I am of course, referring to the option of "terrorizing civilians".  As it currently stands, a maximum of 51.75 infrastructure damage can be done using a "terrorism" spy-operation—mind you, this is not even the commonality, this is the absolute most than can be done, assuming you have both 60 spies and a spy satellite versus an enemy with 0 spies  This is blatantly stupid.  There is no other way to describe it.  It either needs to be deleted from the game or more appropriately, a "0" should be added to the number—whereby the maximum would be 510.75 infrastructure damage.  As it currently stands, even doing a "Quick and Dirty" operation for this costs literally 9 times as much as the absolute maximum amount of damage that can be done.  There is no reason this should be in the game if those are the numbers being used.  All it does is provide a trap for new players.  I don't know what logic was used in justifying how someone spending, in theory, $1.5M for a spy-op should be okay with expecting a maximum of $26K worth of damage but that logic is absolutely bananas.  The fact that it has been allowed to persist like this shows either a lack of priority to fix it (perhaps due to simple negligence) or a deliberate maliciousness towards espionage in general.

I don't imagine this will be a very popular post from me, but I'm not exactly here to be popular, so I'm not particularly bothered by that.

Far be it from me to tell people what they can and cannot feel, that is their right as people. If you love this announcement, great, good, I'm happy for you. If you nature this post, ok, cool, that's your prerogative.

I will say though, the response does amuse me to an extent. The only reason people would be upset about this is the fact that it gets in the way of their plans, one way or another. I don't know if Clock or Backroom wanted Celestials and Hollywood to fight while THEY fought. I don't know if Backroom is upset because they wanted Celestials or Hollywood to join the war to defend them, or something.

The biggest thing though, at least from what I have seen, that people are upset about is article 3, and I have to point out, There was no reason to be upset about that, unless you wanted to attack one bloc or the other. It is not a mutually offensive pact, it doesn't link the two spheres to both attack someone, it's not like this is some hegemonic obsessive force. It's simply says both spheres do not want to fight, and respect the other's desire not to fight, and will defend them if someone attacks them. That is all it says, and that doesn't matter unless you want it to attack one or the other. If you didn't want to attack One of the two spheres, them agreeing to defend each other if one is attacked, doing a very temporary period of time has zero impact on you. It's as plain and simple as that.

"I am upset because this means I can not attack one sphere without the interference and defense of the other." is what 95% of people being upset here is, unless you want to make the argument that this sets a bad and dangerous precedent, and in which case, that's entirely dumb for a different reason that we can discuss at a later point in time.

The issue that I (and most of Aurora & friends) have seen, is game stagnation.  If everyone took this approach to spheres, there would virtually never be a GW—if this was in real life, that'd be wonderful—But this. Is not. Real life. This is a game. That exists. For war too. Not just politics.  If you think that it doesn't, then you are playing the wrong game.  It's not called "Politics & Diplomacy".  All of you people thinking that everyone who disagrees with your decision wants to randomly attack your precious pixels are delusional and paranoid in the highest, most extreme degree.  Whenever your best "arguments" against the main problem with the pact are simply personal attacks and insults, you show that you are not even capable of reasoning.
