  1. I can tell you have literally no idea what anarchism is. Debate with us when you actually know our stuff. Let me help you.
  2. Congratulations to you and your new alliance! May the best of luck be yours. Ignore the haters, they don't kniw what they're talking about. My guy, so did and does capitalism - and this isn't a place for OOC politics.
  3. Especially on this last point, yes. Basically the only players who have real say for in-game politics are: Leaders (and, to a lesser extent, 2ICs) of major (top 30 or so) alliances, as they have influence over many players Veterans of the game, as they are very interconnected in the community of the game (those connections are critical for having weight behind your words) Organisers of news Discords like Morf Radio or Royal Orbis News, as they have the ability to nudge narratives in their subtle ways For 99% of players, they won't be one of these - even if they do stick around in the short-to-medium term. Adding on to what i'm saying, I can use myself for an example. I've been with the game for just about 10 months, and have had a decent resumé as an ASM Foreign Affairs person as well as co-founding a high-tier micro with friends. You'd think I would have some level of say over things in Orbis, but not really! I'm still pretty green compared to the real movers and shakers; and while I do have many friendships (as well as some rivals and foes), I would still say my effect on Orbis is marginal at best.
  4. As someone with basically opposite views on both taxes and politics, I still absolutely agree and you raise a good point about the beginning raiding - something I never thought of before. But yeah, even as a proponent of full command economy (100/100), the rebuild part absolutely stands firm - as well as @Solomon Ben-David's points about community. My game enjoyment comes mostly from chilling with my friends and playing other games like CK2. I like to think of the "Nations" in this game more like provinces/states, and the "Alliances" more like actual countries (and blocs being actual alliances and so forth). You would definitely fit better in a low tax alliance like Arrgh as mentioned.
  5. Right conclusion, wrong reasoning. If having our alliance members follow our trade bloc color or listen to our embargos, etc. is tax farming, then literally every alliance in Orbis is a tax farm.
  6. Project adds 2 project slots. One is used by itself, meaning you really get one more slot.
  7. I definitely think a 50% max in reserve cap would do well - so even for established nations, you can have at most 30 safe spies. And it would take around half an average global war to get to the max amount of reserves.
  8. With how large alliance warchests are, this basically removes the spy ops side of war with no incentive to zero spies - since there is no way to kill a nation's ability to produce spies. In Guns & Roses / GW18, our coalition had spy ops served when we had 20+ spies (10 days without project, 7 with). The war lasted well over that. Hollywood had a significant advantage on all fronts, but they even had us on the spy front as well - though we turned that around a bit closer to the end of the global. Without shooting spies dead, there is no incentive to assassinate spies - just focus on tanks or planes or whatever since spies will be back in a week anyway. A zeroed nation can, thus, fight in perpetuity via spies, off daily bonuses alone. If its an alliance embargo, I don't see why individual nations should be able to break it. Embargoes are already basically useless - alliance embargoes could fix that, but nations opting out brings us back to square one of uselessness
  9. ....huh. So i'll be. For the record we don't post it since Blankie Gang is a private alliance and, at least for the short-to-medium term does not take applicants we didn't pre-approve. Also going to correct for ASM here, they do list it. I was coming to this replying "Bet?" and then... well, turns out you're right. Yeah, that's pretty bad that people don't list tax rates. Haven't thought of it much, but it could always show the existing brackets and how many members? Would probably be unintuitive though, defeating the point. Maybe mean/median taxes?
  10. ??? Any alliance worth their salt posts their tax rates on the alliance page. Could've always asked "What does 100/100 mean?" Generally I'd always clarify that for every applicant and ask if they were cool with it before accepting them. I'm cool 100/100 because I understand that in a command economy, smaller nations get more than they put in. Fine with it at larger scales too because of my worldviews. TL;DR Read the fine print. Maybe Alex could have a public tax bracket section on all alliance pages.
  11. I should've doubted the second I realised I was on the same side as Firwof
  12. A. Her. Don't misgender people. B. The evidence of recent activity with in-game trading which was posted counters her claim of not playing, as well as the claims by many others here she has also been active in Royal Orbis News - claiming to me even in DMs that the events were "years ago" and not the few days ago that is being corroborated here by many. Liars don't garner respect from me.
  13. Mate, look. I'm an anarchist. Our whole thing is restorative justice and the rehabilitation of people, which is why I was initally sympathetic with her return. However, lying is something I take grave offense to. To reward a fake apology to try and garner a welcome back with said welcome back would be nothing but a threat to our community - as widespread and different as we are. You can't rehabilitate someone willing to manipulate social strings to their own benefit. I encourage you to not double down and defend someone willing to abuse good will like that.
  14. I haven't heard of this RON business or how... recent Astryl's interactions with the game have been. I am rescinding my forgiveness - because if this bullying has been within the last few days? Yeah no, I can no longer believe this apology. I'm not on RON so I was not party to what has been going on. I apologise for my haste in forgiveness without knowing what happened on RON.
  15. She literally said that she resigned because of the attempts to doxx Alex and destroy the game. What more do you want? Permanent ban, re-roll, and re-doxxing her?
  16. Welcome back to the forums, and welcome back to the game proper. Much like Anna I fear you're going to get a lot of salt thrown your way. I find it greatly admirable that you took a stand against the doxxing and even warning Alex. That gives great respect to you.
  17. I gotta agree with most of the sentiment here. I'd say an alliance needs at least 2 of these 3 things: - Competent government (especially IA and Milcom) - A community that's willing to both roll and get rolled - Connections with other alliances (and people!) in this game This is why we generally tell newbies to avouid starting micros - they rarely have one of these things, let alone all three.
  18. Happy Birthday! TKR has always been a valiant opponent to face during my time on Orbis - both Duck Hunt and Guns & Roses. Cheers to another year! Maybe this year i'll be fighting alongside you mighty knights!
  19. Wrong channel, this is for OOC politics
  20. Join an alliance instead. Orbis doesn't take kindly to pixel farmers.
  21. Did @Zei-Sakura Alsainn 's DoE make so many people think "hm, micros can exist with no worry" without realising we're C20-30 range of experienced players with a treaty?
