Interview With The First Princess

For this edition, we bring you to the palace in Kingdom of Wintery's capital Omni to talk with our princess and potentially future empress, Lucia Millennium. To be honest, we were nervous about this idea since getting inside the palace itself was not a walk in the park due to having to be approved by the Pack's General, Liam Hiker. The loyal guard's dedication to the family is as famous as the royal family itself but that is another story for another article as we have managed to get past him to get a very rare one-on-one interview with the princess.

First Princess Lucia is famous for her public appearances, even more so than her twin brother, First Prince Ericson, and her love for the camera, so her willingness to accept the interview was no secret. She even dressed in her formal wear, something unusual since it is rumored that the royal family tends to become more casual when within the palace and just being a family, and smiled like she was given the world. When I gave her the first question, she was quick to answer.

Me: With your mother opening up more to outside nations, we wish to know what your opinion on this is?

Lucia: Well, I can definitely say I'm excited. Being in this family also means learning how to be a diplomat, so I won't be surprised if mother has me play ambassador a few times. I certainly enjoyed it when I went to the Quarian Empire in representation of the family for the celebration Ms. Hawkeyes promotion.

Me: Do you also think this is good training for you when your mother announces you as her heir?

Lucia: Now, who says mother's going to choose me? My brother is just as capable to take over.

Me: Yes, but Wintery's tradition has always had it be a daughter chosen as successor. You and your younger sister, Second Princess Gem would most likely be picked before First Prince Ericson is selected.

Lucia: Yes, but I believe tradition doesn't mean law. Besides, despite how mother acts, she does tend to favor my brother a bit more since he is her only son. Ericson's also just as knowledgeable in Foreign Affairs and even more knowledgeable in military affairs than I am.

Me: So you wouldn't mind if your brother was chosen over you?

The First Princess actually looked a bit tense at the question, but she put back on her usual confident expression.

Lucia: I wouldn't be surprised if he was. As I said, he's just as capable.

We went on talk about other suggestions such as the Empress' confirmation to expand Wintery into the West (and her brother joining in the campaign). She had went on to say she was excited about what the expanding on the borders could mean.

We've also went on the more uncomfortable subject of the shooting Pack member Samuel Ether. She was visiting the Quarian Empire for the celebration at the time, but she had joined in the Ether's family suggestion to offer his older brother Randolph a deal in hopes of getting the man to talk. The deal wasn't offered and Randolph refused to talk either way, and so we asked what her opinion on the situation, including the hanging of the possible shooter.

Lucia: I won't lie and say I'm not disappointed that the Ether's family suggestion wasn't used because I am, but I won't lie and say that I'm disgusted with the cowardliness that Randolph Ether has shown. He has dug himself into this hole and when karma comes knocking, it's his brother that gets hurt. And instead of being a reasonable son and older brother, he keeps quiet and chose to hide in a cell. And as for the shooter, if it is murder, I say the only thing I am disappointed in is not being able to try him, but if it was really suicide and the note is just a ploy, I say he's an even bigger coward than Ether!

First Princess Lucia was shaking with rage and her willingness to interview any further seemed to have waned, so I decided to wrap this up with one last question.

Me: If you were to become the next empress, how would you feel falling into the footsteps of your mother and ancestors?

Lucia (taking a deep breath): I'd be scared as hell. I mean, being a princess and being queen are two completely different jobs. You gain more responsibility, and the needs and wants of the people weigh on your shoulders. Mother told me how she almost past out during the day of her coronation, recalling what her mother, grandmother, had to do in order to get to where we are today, and it was being passed on to her. She was expected to not only preserve the legacy but also expand it. It was all too much, but once she was able to calm herself, meaning ranting how she felt to my father (she laughs a little), she started to feel pride and determination about what she was given. My feelings are probably going to be different, but I know I'll take care of the legacy that would be given to me.

And there we have it. Strong words from one of our kingdom's strongest women. Now, we all know she isn't perfect, if anyone can recall the wild sixteenth birthday she threw, but if she is to become our next empress, that type of ambition is definitely what our kingdom needs when that new chapter starts.

It's good to see her point of view. We hope you continue to interview the royal family.

We hope to as well in the future
