Greetings, everyone! I am President Dimitri Valko of the Authoritarian State of Ryas, and a Captain of Arrgh. My children are turning three in two days, so now that I have time to do more of these types of things, I have created a place for political news in Ryas. This new series of political news updates will tell the international community of our change in policies, elections, declarations of war, treaties put into place, our stock market, among other things. POLICY UPDATES
Legal Use of Alcohol - Age - Decrease from 16 to 15
15-year-olds around Ryas have had to go to less-than-legal sources to obtain alcohol in the past, so we have decided to lower the age restriction. Teenagers will be happier, and we’ll get more in small alcohol tax. Win-win, right?
Legal Use of Tobacco - Age - Decrease from 16 to 14
If someone wants to smoke tobacco, they should be allowed to. It does not impact one’s own judgement, only long-term physical effects, so it should not be any problem if teenagers want to try it a couple years earlier. Also takes money out of the black market and into government through light taxes.
NATIONAL ANTHEM SELECTED
The Authoritarian State of Ryas’ National Anthem is now officially Greensleeves (What Child Is This), believed to be written by King Henry VIII of England.
