MARIA — In honor and commemoration of Athretvari’s ascension to the Green Protection Agency alliance, the alliance’s second RL anniversary, and the founding of Athretvari's second great city of Magdalena, the Athretvar Ministry of Treasury announced during a lavish ceremony at the Athretvar National Mint the unveiling of a rare collectors’ edition Orbis 1999 two-dollar coin.

The coin was designed to mark Athretvari’s acceptance into the alliance in a rare ten-thousand unit minting that will produce coins with a face-value of only $2, but will have an actual metallurical value of nearly $20 each.

Each coin is struck from two alloys of aluminum native to Athretvari’s far-western volcanic Grande Terre region. The inner core of the coin reflects a metallic green, a distinct property of Athretvar North Grande Terre alumi-alloy, while the coin’s ridge and embossed markings are forged from silvery Ile Ouest alumi-alloy polished to maximize the capture of light and shine brightly.

Khevin Szei, Director of the National Mint’s Sales Office said the coin “reflects the enthusiasm felt throughout Athretvari. 1999 has been a momentous year for our small country. We have emerged from several decades of foreign occupation, colonialism, and ethnic oppression, and then most recently ten years of an oftentime brutal armed resistance for independence. We followed this great achievement with our acceptance to the GPA and the founding of our second great city.â€

Mr Szei said the Mint decided to use the rare alumi-alloys for the coin specifically for their vibrant colors, noting the GPA’s colors are green and white. â€We wanted a coin that not only honored Athretvari, but also commemorated the GPA’s second RL anniversary this December.â€

The new coins won’t be distributed for general circulation, but are available to collectors through the National Mint’s sales office.

Mr Szei also said the Mint has plans to offer its currency design, minting and printing services to the nations of Orbis in the near future once it receives Athretvar government authorization, which is expected to include provisions giving members of the GPA “preferred alliance-client†discounts and special options.

The government in Maria hopes the export of certain Athretvar cultural products and services, such as artisan-currency design will help augment the national economy and help develop positive foreign relations. — RCBC
