An Announcement from King Thalmor Septim

Since before Christmas of last year, the Royal Government has been making promises of big announcements for and in 2020.

Last month, it was declared that the first week of February would be a week of 'campaigning'. Politicians - both elected and royal - have been parading around the nation. Making speeches and holding rallies. More cynical citizens are curious as to why all this money is being spent for such activities, but I digress.

Finally, the main event occurs today: As it snows, King Thalmor Septim delivers a speech announcing a formal step into the world stage. 

King Thalmor spends most of the speech talking about progress being made here at home in The Evenstar, thanking various royals for helping manage the nation and thanking officials in the Royal Evenstar Church for 'maintaining the spirit of the nation.' 

The most newsworthy section of the speech in the final quarter of it. King Thalmor makes a number of announcements, including:

*The desire to open embassies with foreign nations.

*The desire to establish formal trade agreements with foreign entities.

*An initiative to overhaul the Royal Evenstar Military to 'become more effective in a new era of conflict on Orbis.'

*A vague proclamation that 'The Evenstar will seek to further its own interests on the world stage in a proactive and assertive way.'

Reactions to the speech have been mixed. Loyalists, Royal Evenstar Church members, and members of Royalty have all voiced support for the speech and the ideas therein. Academic organizations, Democrats, and progressive groups have criticized the speech as 'pandering' and 'imperialistic'. 

Rian Bailey, the head of the Evenstar Democratic Union, as stated "The King's speech tonight paints a scary future where Evenstar lives will be lost to stroke Septim's ego. I hope that calmer heads in the Royal Government will prevail and that my darkest fears will be unfounded."

Announcement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs

The Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs office has sends its best wishes to King Thalmor, and has stated that the System's Alliance will be requesting an embassy and to start negotiating a Trade agreement that will benefit both nations. The Systems Alliance's Prime Minister is also awaiting for a time to meet with King Thalmor and has sent a few gifts, mostly of Aged American classic alcohol and trickets.
