Doubtless, many neighbouring nations would have considered the Republic a weak enemy: easy pickings in a potential war. But such ambitions would have been extinguished in the last week, as an upstart nation was humiliated by the Republic's military forces, setting an example for any nations considering an attack. A fortnight ago, the Polish Liberation Army (PLA), a fascist remnant state of Poland, attempted to take advantage of the Republic's position and seize Lumian territories in Poland. The advance of 150,000 soldiers was initially successful, but tanked as reinforcements arrived. With the conflict with the Empire in consideration, it was decided that the Republic couldn't afford a protracted two-front war. A quarter of the LAF (Lumian Air Force) was dispatched to destroy PLA positions, in conjunction with a series of paratroop drops to sabotage government installations. With much of the PLA's territory in blackout, a rapid ground offensive took place, capturing all key cities within 72 hours. Remaining PLA forces surrendered shortly after. Overall, the Lumian Republic suffered 83 deaths and 287 injuries, while the PLA suffered 8,781 deaths and 23,192 injuries.
