German Military Operation

    Madme Chancellor, Ministers, Commanders. 

The Bundesamt für Sicherheit and Heer set up Hörpostens across the border with Reubian. While the intention of the stations has been to listen in on Reubian Military Communications, as well as confirm the reports and targets by the Royal Marine Force Reconnnaise or FORECON. Yesterday, the post captured audio from the Natural Resistance Army and their training camp to the north of Munich, in Augsburg. FORECON has already scouted the area. We can confirm that an enemy villa structure on top of a hill in Augsburg is the house of a leader within the Resistance Army. We believe they are hosting a meeting between their NCO Corps and Officers. Intelligence is credible and we will need to act fast. The Audio contained chatter of a strike against Germany, possible secondary strikes on Metro City, and an attack on valuable research facilities of the Reubian Government. The Luftwaffe would like to strike the villa and the training camp. We expect low to no collateral damage and to deal a blow to the NRA. 

The Officer sat down, letting the Minister of Defense and Chancellor discuss their actions. 

Colonel, order the strike. I would like a briefing on my desk about the attack and the success. It seems our friends in Münich can no longer uphold their end of the bargain. Rommel, get a task-force into The region and take care of the issue. We will hold down that province. 

"Yes Bundeskanzler, we will have a report on your desk by the time you make it back to Berlin. Safe trip."

In the Nuremberg Airbase, Luftwaffe F-18 Rheinmetall took off the run way. ODIN was an experienced pilot for the Luftwaffe, fighting in Kosov and in Sweden. He reached the designated target zone. On the ground, FORECON or the elite Reconnaise Kommandos of the Royal Marine Corps watched the compound. Across the border, FORECON has been scouting and watching troop and enemy movements. Mapping storages, and places the Deutsches Heer would need to capture if an invasion of their new adversary was necessary. 

"ODIN, this is Seahawk. Targets are all in the villa, we have lasers on the target, bring the package."

 

"Copy Seahawk, ODIN is sending the package. Time minus 15 seconds"

"Roger ODIN, Time minus 15. Target's leaving villa...civilians are present."

"Roger Seahawk, Keep laser on target,"

A massive fireball erupts over the villa, the villa and the leaders of the cell in Munich were killed in the strike. ODIN now moved onto the secondary target. The training center, as FORECON moved into position, a small contingent of Rebels moved to the compound. They noticed the F-18 and spotted the FORECON moving. They disembarked, as the officer tried to radio the former colonel in the camp, his men laid fire onto the FORECON. Pinned, the FORECON could not provide a laser target for ODIN. Staff Sergeant Köhler ordered his men to form a defensive posture as they returned fire on the Rebels. The 12 Man team held off the Rebels, Rebels reinforcements brought BTRs, causing the FORECON to remain pinned under heavy fire. 

"SEAHAWK 2-1, REBEL BTR HEADING UP PASSAGE, SEAHAWK ACTUAL DO YOU COPY"

"Seahawk 2-1, speak clearly. Where is the BTR heading?" 

"Sir! Enemy BTR, 50 Meters,"

"Get the Panzerfaust, fire!" 

An explosion echoed as the BTR went up in flames. ODIN was unable to launch his Laser guided missiles, returning to his main cannon and a single JDAM, the LJDAM could no longer be used, so he positioned himself into an attack run. 

"Command, ODIN is unable to hit Base. FORECON under heavy fire, requesting permission to use JDAM and main guns."

"ODIN, can you see any civilians nearby?"

"Positive command, possible civilian town half a klick from the base." 

"Copy ODIN, command transmitting orders to Berlin hold.....Copy, Berlin grants use of araments. avoid collateral damage."

"Roger, ODIN out"

ODIN positioned in an attack run dropped his payload before firing his main guns into the base. The Explosion could be felt in the town, as the F-18 did a fly over, he could see civilians looking at the plane as it wizzed overhead.

"ODIN to command, targets destroyed. Limited collateral damage, ODIN evac Winchester to base."

"Copy ODIN, return to base"

In the forests, FORECON had managed to hold off the rebels. They evacuated to the German border and were transported back to Nuremberg. The After action report was sent to the Deutches Heer and Bundeskalnzer. The Deutches Heer would launch an operation to clear Munich and Augsburg. The province would be apart of the Federal Republic after.

The Royal Marine Kommando have deployed MARSOF and FORECON to the Border with Rebeuian and the Unclaimed lands. The Deployments happened at night, as FORECON "Seahaw" had engaged enemy rebels on the border. The Marine Airwing was being rapidly deployed as well.

We discovered the strike, and would just like to express our gratitude. Before you start thinking we have infiltrated your army, we haven't. One of our ministers was on holiday, birdwatching (before he got into politics he was an ornithologist). While looking at the picturesque villa, he saw the explosion. Investigation teams were sent, and we determined what had happened.

 

Once again, thanks for your aid. We hope that this can be the beginning of a great friendship.

    Earlier today, the Bundeswehr launched a double airstrike on suspected and validated NRA Terror cells in Augsburg. Subsequently, The Deutcheses Heer launched an operation, controlling the Airport in Münich and the State Capital. The Deutsches Heer has confirmed that 97 NRA Rebels were killed in the airstrikes, however, 31 Civilians, including 24 Reubian Civilians were killed. The German Government cannot confirm their identities, neither if they were directly killed by German Airstrikes. The Strike was authorized by the Minister of Defense, and the German Military conducted ground operations following the airstrike. At least an additional 40 Rebels were killed by German Elite Kommandos and The Deutsches Heer. This is an ongoing situation and we are dealing with a delicate situation. Thank you

Damn. While I understand the necessity of your actions, many of our citizens do not, and are pushing for retaliation. Obviously, this is out of the question, but we request that you return the bodies to us so that they may be mourned by their friends and family. To end this quickly, we will be attacking the NRA alongside you. We request that you coordinate operations with us, to avoid more accidental deaths.

Basically, the NRA (Natural Resistance Army) is an extremist group, attracting those on both the far right and the far left. Their aim is to bring humanity to the Middle Ages, before the development of science. As well as being against scientific research, they are violently opposed to all forms of evidence-based medicine. It can be noted that Reubenia maintains a high standard of living despite extremely high radiation levels and low temperatures (both due to a nuclear war before our foundation), almost entirely due to science. The NRA is therefore extremely opposed to us, and would prefer to see the majority of us die of cancer at age 40, rather than accept a single medical advancement.

 

Should you choose to assist us in a military capacity, Reubenia will deploy our long-range supersonic transport planes to ferry your troops. They would arrive 3 hours after pick-up, and will be allowed time to rest.

The Sector is currently under lockdown. As such, both the bodies and all access to the region are closed. We understand the frustration of your citizens, it is unfortunate that they were among the dead. The German Military has relocated 23 Reubian Citizens to a Military Operation Base to be processed and to confirm they are not members of the NRA. We already have our suspicions that at least 5 Reubians were among the dead at the Villa outside of Augsburg. 

Until the German Military can confirm the NRA rooted out of our southern border province, we will have the area on lock down. We will set up communication lines, and give your citizens trapped in the Red Zone access to our military communications to call home and confirm they are well. 

The Ministry of Defense will convene on the possibility of future counter-terrorism operations. We do, however, strongly discourage your forces from entering the conflict zone. Our RoE are to shoot any hostile and armed soldiers. Uniformed or not, you will be putting your troops and ours at risk. Should you have any requests or concerns, the Defense Government Relations Office will be glad to respond and assist you. 

The German Government offers its condolences to the families of the loved ones. Once we can secure the air space, and clear the sector of hostiles. We will prepare to send the bodies back to Metro City.

The planes have now arrived in the Nova Empire, and will return to Reubenia in 5 hours, including 2 hours for your troops to board.

   Germany continued sporadic long-range attacks in the weeks following the operation against the NRA. In the week of September 7, 2017, Germany’s military announced that it had killed at least 97 rebels in southern Germany after firing on them with long-range weapons. A spokesman for the Reubenia Security Forces, affirmed the report, saying Germany had conducted military operation and air assault there in the previous 4 hours.

   On September 7th, and 8th, 2017, the German Luftwaffe bombed the NRA bases in the southern German regions of Augsburg, Munich, and Williamtown.This was described as the largest attack since the end of Operation Atlantic Resolve. First, the PzH2000 howitzers were used to shell the NRA positions starting from 18:00 pm on September 6th, which lasted for two hours. Then F-18 jets equipped with AIM-9 and JDAM belonging to the 7th Airwing (ODIN) began bombing the NRA positions in southern Germany, which lasted 45 minutes. In the meantime, German UAVs and The Royal Marine Reconnaissance Force (FORECON) were used for gaining reconnaissance data regarding the NRA positions, and pinpoint enemy positions for airstrikes. About 60 German Royal Marine Kommandos entered 12 kilometers into southern Germany from the border area near Munich in reconnaissance of the NRA militants. On September 7, 2008, at around 06:00 am, a second aerial strike by the jets of the German Luftwaffe from Nuremberg Air Base took place, in which the NRA militants using a villa in Augsburg as a meeting for the NCO and Officer Corps were bombed. This was followed by another air strike at 07:00 am in the same morning, during which the German Luftwaffe jets hit a training camp of the NRA.

   On September 9, 2017, at least 30 jets of the German Luftwaffe bombed the NRA camps in eastern Germany.  The operation began just before midnight and continued into September 10, 2017.According to German military spokesmen, the NRA targets that were bombed were near civilian settlements, On September 11, the German Joint Chief announced that "more than 200 NRA militants have been neutralized in our operation, which targeted the camps and operational bases in the Munich region, where most of the high-ranking members of the eastern front of the NRA were located.”The German Joint Chief, without giving a precise name, implied that the NRA rebels who were neutralized may also include “received external funding and support" as well;  leading the German press to speculate that Reubenia Citizens were arming and supplying the NRA might have also been killed during the latest aerial strikes where 24 Reubenia civilians were killed.

   On September 11, 2017, 34 German Soldiers were injured in an NRA assault on German Outposts and checkpoints. Over 50 German Soldiers were injured by the NRA throughout the operations. Although no Soldiers have died, the recent rising in attacks have caused the Military to expand its operation and griddling out the NRA. The Cordon was expanded, to incorporate the entire region. Flights and Land routes were locked and gaurded by the Deutches Heer and Luftwaffe.

September 6th, 2017

    We were given 24 hours to get our affairs in order. We bid our farewells to our loved ones. This would be my third tour, after Flanders and Sweden. I didn’t see myself as a seasoned veteran, but I was an experienced Combat Medic. Our Squad leader, Staff Sergeant Kübler had been there for almost 7 years. Fighting in Flanders, Sweden, Germany, and Iraq, he had led over hundreds of men and women. My brother was beginning the school year, after our parents died in the Berlin Bombings he was the last family I had. It was hard to leave him, every deployment was never easy. I dropped Thomas off at the with my Aunt in Nuremberg before I made sure the bills were paid and the car had gas and been cleaned.  

    Our Squadron assembled with the rest of the Brigade. We were surprised to see almost 3 other brigades at the rally point, brigades who judging from their combat patches had been stationed in Kiel and Dresden up at the North. Colonel Göl and Commander Mira addressed the battalions. Informing the Task Force of the conflict in Munich, we were going to stop the expansion of the enemy of the German People and end the rise of a rebellion fueled by the Reubenia. “Today, you continue the fight for the fatherland. A fight not only in the battlefields of Scandinavia, or the valleys of Flanders, a battle in the fields of Munich, a battle where we put a plug on the expansion of the false Germans. Our neighbors have been unable to stop the NRA, and so the task of stability in Europe has once again fallen on the shoulders of the brave warriors of Germany. Let you’re training and experience lead you, and let your wit and determination bring you home.” We prepared to load onto the Atlas Transports. This would be my first Airborne Jump, the Mechanized Force was used to driving into territory not jumping, but the Military needed a quick reaction force. And we were all that stood between the NRA and Nuremberg. 

 September 7th, 2017

    We loaded onto our transports. I could see all my platoon members also having that sense of shock. We were carrying a M2 Bradley and 1 Striker IAV as well, the entire Brigade would deploy first so we did not know what to expect. 

    Before the jump, most people prayed, others sat in silence. Our Captain was fresh out of the academy. Unlike the NCOs and other Brigade COs, the Captain had never seen combat nor fought in an active war zone. 

    The Jump Master signaled we were over the target zone. The red light lit up, the Vehicle crews mounted onto their vehicles. Tightening the locks, the red light flashed. The ramp lowered, and the Bradley and Striker had been pushed out in a low-altitude drop. We stood up, as the Jump Master instructed us to check each others parachutes. We gave a light tap when ready. Giving the Jump Master a thumbs up, the green lights shined. GO…GO…GO…we ran out of the planes, diving out. We could already see small arms fire, tracers from the striker and flames. We glided for sometime before pulling our chutes. The gunfire and ricocheted could be heard louder now. Bullets began whizzing at us, we landed. We cut our cords, pulling our rifles and ammunition out. We could see the Striker had broken its trackers during the landing and was holding the riverbed. 

    Staff Sergeant Küble bellowed for us to move. We were stuck in the middle of the cross fire, NRA Fighters and the 10th Gebirgsjäger Regiment had engaged the NRA on the Elbe Forests. 

    “Enemy Contact 15 Meters, form permitter!” we formed a firing line. Using our Machine Guns, we laid a path of suppressive fire. Some Gebirgsjäger from the 10th Gebirgsjäger Regiment had joined our position. The 10th Gebirgsjäger Regiment had been in contact with NRA rebels over the entire parallel. NRA Forces had tried to counter the German First Armee Corps. Our objectives were to push the NRA out. 

    Our Battalion had similar issues, all the strikers were badly damaged. Those that could move were pinned by hostile fire. The Forests had become a deadly battle for survival as the NRA pushed again and again. 

September 8th, 2017

    By Dawn, we had run out of ammo. All I remember was bringing bandages, dragging my fellow troops out of combat, and getting knock unconscious. I woke up in a hospital in Munich. We have broken the NRA lines, and pushed them out. The Hospital was busy, will the Deutsches Heer did not suffer any causalities, at least 73 were injured. Including 12 with broken bones from the Striker Crash. I tried to catch some sleep, knowing I would be back out and fighting the NRA resistance in Munich…
