Rozalia Posted November 25, 2016 Share Posted November 25, 2016 With his grand army in tatters and the authority it gave him gone, Don Juan had no choice but to abandon Ignatia while hoping he could take refuge with his friend (Impostor) Polaris in the GPA. The allied forces occupied Ignatia and immediately began to give chase, pouring into the Greenlands. The broken Pantheon forces joined together with Polaris's GPA forces and appealed to Cromwell, the leader of the Fighting Pacifist cult for aid which they received. Their resistance however did not go well and Cromwell in his efforts to resist the enemy was quickly killed in the fighting by forces commanded by Odin. Polaris held up in his fortress for a time but was ultimately burned alive in said fortress by forces commanded by Jacob Hanson. With the situation so dire and the enemy clearly too strong to oppose Don Juan absorbed what remained of GPA and Fighting Pacifists and began to go west knowing that the enemy surely would not chase him into such lands. Reaching Llanera River however he found a large army flying the Roz Wei flag waiting, which from the look of the camps seemed to have been waiting for some time. Don Juan had no choice to call for camps to be built and for his men to get organised for the coming battle, making sure to send scouts out to make sure no-one was coming from behind them. The Roz Wei forces for their part remained still and did not attack. The next day before noon movements from Roz Wei began with the setting up of couches and umbrellas in the space between the two armies. One of the women who had set it up made her way towards where Don Juan was on his steed and asked for his presence at the banquet, for drinks with Rozalia himself. Intrigued Don Juan did as asked after telling his army to hold firm to their formation and rode towards where Rozalia sat waiting who quickly rose to greet him. "Ah, welcome brother Don Juan. I've been waiting for you to show up, so good for you to come" Don Juan found such behaviour from Rozalia most odd but he sat down to see what would be said. "I've heard of your troubles brother. Terminus Est and Arrgh are certainly fearsome aren't they but do not worry brother. I've told them to not disturb us so believe me, they won't be attacking you from behind or anything nasty like that" Don Juan stayed silent and tried to assess what sort of trick was being pulled. He took time to look at Rozalia's army for any possible information and for a time caught the glare of the sun which was bright indeed. "Come brother, lets drink to this meeting of heroes here by the Llanera River" In his haste and stress it had escaped him that was the site of their first battle against each so long ago in their younger years. A bad omen perhaps he thought. "What is the reason for this? What are you after?", finally spoke Don Juan to Rozalia. "Ah... well brother I must confess that we have met now not just to catch up on old times but because I have a motive... you see the world has changed with the fall of so many powers of the past. You ascended to the top of the mountain until that nasty Lordship stabbed you in the back and knocked you off but... how many will follow such a man? If you make it past me here brother you will no doubt quickly find allies and be able to remove Lordship, and I brother know how dangerous it is to oppose those who have such overwhelming power. I would like to help you here as having Lordship in command is something I simply cannot have". "So you hope to get into my good graces? Help me pay Lordship back for his treachery?", Don Juan confirmed as Rozalia glanced slightly to the side. "Of course brother". Don Juan feeling a sense of superiority at last in the conversation tried to see how much he could get, "And you would escort me west?" "Of course brother". "Ummm well we will be tired and would like to rest on the journey, also we'd need a staging ground for our war with Lordship. Will you cede your western cities to me? I promise when I have dealt with Lordship you will be well rewarded" Rozalia quickly showed on his face that he did not like such a request, "Ay yai yai brother... if I were to cede those cities to you my soldiers and officers would think me weak and second rate, they could well do away with me. And if they take over and then raise an army against you then that will make it most difficult for you to remove Lordship would it not?" "I need a sign that you are sincere considering our past. I would only need the cities for a time and I reward you in future greatly for it. If you agree then we will be to walk from now on as brothers, what have you?" Looking to the side again Rozalia began to pose arrogantly on his couch and laughed, "How magnanimous of you brother. Don Juan, if I were you I would not deal with Rozalia. I'd dig a grave for him. They say that Rozalia is self-opinionated and lacks original ideas but let me tell you brother, three Don Juans tied together would not match one Rozalia", Rozalia said which he followed up with another laugh. With that Rozalia got up and ran back towards his army leaving Don Juan puzzled at the sudden shift the conversation had taken. Hearing the commotion from his forces quickly clued him in and he made sure to quickly ride back to his army. Reaching his officers he quickly learned that while he had been meeting with Rozalia, Mayor had led Cavalry behind them and was causing havoc after having felled Godfrey in the initial strike. "You scoundrel Rozalia!", Don Juan turned to shout in the direction of the Roz Wei force however as he spoke he was cut off by the sun's rays which blinded him. Holding his eyes he quickly recovered only to see the Roz Wei army had began to move with great speed towards his position with the sun behind them. The Pantheon army, split into the parts that made up the hodgepodge held Pantheon in the centre, GPA on the left, and Fighting Pacifists on the right. The GPA forces became greatly diminished having lost one of their leaders in Godfrey so early and so JamesXVI, Baronus, and Kastor were all deployed against them to act in combination with Mayor to break Don Juan's left flank and from there rout his army in quick fashion. During the fighting Kastor quickly managed to take martbhell prisoner after challenging him on the field which caused Rosebud I to give chase in rescue, however Kastor turned about with a great shout that knocked Rosebud off his horse which caused him to fall headfirst onto the ground, cracking his skull and killing him. Soon after Kastor realised that in the heat of things he had crushed martbhell between his arm and torso. Kalev60 the fiercest of the GPA commanders had dueled 30 bouts with Mayor before he realised that the army needed to rally and only he could do it. However as he broke off the duel he was shot and wounded by Abdul Ibrahim who had been observing it. Kalev60's soldiers quickly crowded around their commander to protect him and even Truerror, a strong linebreaker was not able to penetrate their lines to get at the general. At this point Oberstein overwhelmed by fear began to panic and flee, which caused his soldiers to flee, and with him now being the only GPA commander left it caused the whole flank to collapse. He was however trapped and did not have the heart to try to break out so only fleeing towards his Pantheon allies was possible. Rozalia who was leading the centre could recognise Oberstein anywhere and managed to shoot and kill the fleeing general. On the edge of the battlefield watched 5,000 cavalrymen led by Belisarius, general of the now ruined New Rose Empire. In his flight Don Juan had begged for help and promised much to many and Emperor Caillou begrudgingly saw no reason to not take him up on the offer. A far cry from the past only 5,000 soldiers could be deployed in this rescue and yet they watched. As Belisarius saw the battle was over he told his subordinates they were returning. Kurdanak not understanding such behaviour asked Belisarius why they would come just to watch, Belisarius in response only smiled and told him, "Emperor Cailou told us to go to Don Juan and escort him to his destination. However its clear that Rozalia and his soldiers are already escorting him to his destination... the underworld. As such we are unneeded in getting Don Juan to his destination". The end of the beginning had concluded. With their left flank broken the Pantheon forces took tremendous damage as the Roz Wei forces smashed into their side, becoming only worse when Mayor charged into their backlines also which boxed them in. Don Juan knew from the beginning that the nature of the offensive and of his forces it meant he could not have taken advantage of the superior numbers in his centre and the enemy had clearly known this. He took out his sword and prepared to fight in a manner he hoped would honour him, for his life was already over so what was there to lose. "My lord... My lord... My lord!", Don Juan snapped back to reality having finally heard the voice of Printer635 who seeing Don Juan finally showing signs of understanding continued, "The battle is clearly lost and fighting to the death is pointless. If you order our forces to flee into the Fighting Pacifists and then use them as a rear guard then you will likely be able to escape". This new information put him at odds with himself, a moment ago having been so ready to fight to the death but now... there was a chance at survival. Doing as Printer635 suggested Don Juan ordered a retreat through where the Fighting Pacifists had been making a stand. Already having been struggling before this point, the Fighting Pacifists quickly disintegrated when Truerror broke through and killed Leo Lionheart. Quichwe10 their commander himself ordered a retreat but in a different direction then Don Juan, correctly assuming the enemy would see one as a larger prize than the other. Don Juan managed to escape once again in the second battle of Llanera River into Rose territory, however this land was in rebellion as Duke Durmij was in conflict with the weakened Emperor Caillou. Don Juan tried to convince Durmij for them to join forces, promising future wealth, power and support against Caillou to the Duke. Durmij however saw no merit in this and had Don Juan instead beheaded, with the head sent to Rozalia as a gift. In Rozapolis, the newly renamed former GPA capital, the Son of Heaven thought about the past, where he had lost everything, and the present where he had regained all that he had and so much more.
