  1. @BrythonLexi Not a huge text, but it is discussed briefly in the introduction to the English edition of Engel's Socialism: Utopian and Scientific. Mainly on the role of religion in the rise of capitalism in England, with some mentioning of France which itself took a few revolutions to become permanently capitalist. Socialism: Utopian and Scientific (Introduction - History) (marxists.org). Can't recall if it is discussed more elsewhere in the text and I can't recall anything more substantial at the moment
  2. Yeah sure I will have to dig up a text or something that goes through it
  3. We don't have to have these states, we have examples of working class power through out history without having to cede ground to brutal regimes. Throughout history we have glimpses, the Paris Commune, the Russian revolution, the revolutionary upheavals of the 60-70s, the revolutions that tore the Eastern bloc apart and more recently the Arab revolutions, many have reignited today and the many struggles since 2018, most not consciously communist and none had lasting success, but it is there that we find worker power in an embryonic form . Not to mention countless examples throughout the struggle of the working class, through union militancy. We have yet to see a lasting example of it, but that isn't an issue, capitalism is still relatively young, and capitalism itself failed many times before it became the dominant form of society
  4. Largely agree, though the USSR, and associated states, was not leftist in any sense, and instead represented the collapse of worker's power into a different form of capitalism. It merely had support from mistaken sections of the left because the workers power, albeit brief, was genuine. Socialism isn't some spectrum of how much the government intervenes in society and production, it is the ownership of the means of production by the working class. None of the "communist" countries are set up like that, instead either the state itself is the boss, or in countries such as Vietnam or Cuba, they eventually reintroduce the bosses. The "communism" of these countries merely means they aligned with the imperialism of the USSR over that of the US. And while yes the US did intervene in many if these countries, they often collapsed of their own doing, due to the crises of capitalism or lack of understanding of revolution (be it due to falsely believe in Stalinist or Maoist ideas, or being hostile to communist ideas because of the distortions by the "communist" states)
  5. You've got a good point there, something like a low flat rate, instead of the proportionality to land that farms have, would do that pretty nicely.
  6. For new players it would be helpful but it would also likely result in abuse by larger nations, allowing them to throw nukes around without penalising their own food supply. So it is a bit of a double edged sword
  7. Raw Resource Projects Similar to the existing Steel mills and Uranium Enrichment program projects, this projects would increase the amount of resources produced by mines and oil wells. For example a "Oil Fracking" or "Off-Shore Oil Rigs" project. There is also the question of balancing these projects, in the example of "Oil Fracking" this could be an increase in pollution of oil wells, or in the case of "Off-Shore Oil Rigs" an increase in the upkeep cost of oil wells. This same general principle can be applied to other resources (bauxite, coal, iron and lead) of an increase in the units produced at an increased upkeep or increased pollution output, these projects could be things like "Blast Mining", "Improved Blast Furnaces", additionally, only one Project could potentially work for both iron and bauxite, as the two use similar mining techniques, and are never both present in the same place. Downsides: If upkeep is the balancing factor it will have little effect on larger nations whilst heavily impacting smaller nations. If pollution is the balancing factor it will have a greater effect on larger nations, whilst not having much effect on smaller nations that make little revenue off of tax anyway Will likely reduce the value of raw resources with the increase in supply, but this should also reduce the cost and market price of the final product, so it can be an upside depending on how you look at it Alliance Trading What I am suggesting here is that within the alliance trade offers, the alliance itself would be able to buy and sell resources from the bank. This doesn't change all too much, as currently people can remove resources from the alliance bank and trade those, or sell resources and place money into the bank. This is just to cut out the middle man and to make that process a little simpler. It also means alliance don't need to make as many withdrawals from their bank to get resources to their members, meaning that the bank records are a little less cluttered. Tax Records Yes I know these already exist, I am just suggesting that the tax record system be a little more user friendly by having a search feature. Allowing me to say search the tax records of a particular nation, of nations on a particular tax or of a certain size (i.e. score or number of cities) or to get all the tax records from a particular day without having to scroll through and find it
