We are in contact with our lawyers in regards to copyright infringement.

As the temporary lawyer found in the trashcan behind Yoso's dog house, we shall prosecute the trademark infringement to the fullest extent of the law, whatever that is.

I motion to move this case into the jurisdiction of Strum's Court, because dancing lobsters make everything better.

How about a "soft" limit on alliance banks to discourage "offshores"?

Instead of just making all bank contents unlootable, the first X money and Y resources are invulnerable to looting, which scales based on an alliance's (active nation) city count. Then, there wouldn't really be a need for "offshore" alliance banks because the majority of your money/resources would be protected anyway. If you were hoarding a lot in your alliance, though, it wouldn't all be invulnerable. And by making an "offshore" you wouldn't be gaining any additional protection since the amounts would scale by city count.

This seems like it could be a better compromise that would improve the situation without drastically hurting anyone.

    That seems more reasonable.

A question that is a bit out of scope: Will something like this be done for nations as well? Like the last $100k a nation has is unlootable, but that $100k goes much further for smaller nations than it does larger ones.

  3. Wait, so I was defrauded by EB as an investor in the past when one of their admins deleted. Do I get a refund from then?

BK deleted and took a $4.3 billion loan from MB with them. They quit as a direct consequence of NPO leaving. Does MB get a bailout as well? Pretty sure Orion lost money on a bunch of alliances leaving with their loans unpaid, and it might cause them to close down. Do they get a bailout?

Or does Sheepy have a special relationship with EB only?

Honestly, this is why we didn't want you starting a bank as a mechanic in the game.

Edit: It isn't like EB would have gone under. The money they were loaning out was an investment, not a bank balance they were required to return when asked for. Even if EB was left with a single dollar, they would still technically be in the black.

This is just Sheepy playing favorites. Typical.

    Ayy lmao.

She got promoted and freed herself. She was a strong, single nation and needed no Curu.

    Aight you people!

Who forced Scarfalot to do gender studies and when did he become a social justice warrior all of a sudden?  I'm confused.

I mean, give credit where credit is due. He managed to make Strum of all people defend BK. I didn't think that was possible.

I honestly thought that they were kidding. I sincerely wasn't willing to believe it, but BK has a literal "Vassal" role for their protectorates on their discord.

That's not a protectorate. That's not voluntary. And since it isn't even mutual, it's EXACTLY what I mean when I say "Enslavement" on the forums.

The reply to me was that "vassalage" is voluntary; but that's not what the word means.

    image.png.ada42d074905030b57e094e9e3d9b6f7.png

    See that? Synonym: Slave.

What the hell, BK? You expect your protectorates, your "vassals", your slaves to fight for you, as a condition of your protecting them? Well, who's protecting them from your own failures? Who's protecting them from your dogshit FA? Who's protecting them from the consequences of your plotting and scheming and fake split shenanigans?

You make me physically sick. Holy shit.

Oh, and as soon as I point this out, you ban me from your discord. You are either unwilling to reply, or are unable to reply. Either way, GG.

I go by Psweet Jr/Psweet Lite on Discord. Does that mean I'm a Psweet now?     :blobaww:

  7. Because once your air force gets to a low enough count, it's gg. There is no way to rebuild your air force without it getting blown to smithereens, and since there is no other unit that can fight planes, you can't defend your air force while building it up.

There's a difference between knowingly avoiding the all planes route, and not being able to go the all planes route. Learn that.

  8. The unstable nuclear bomb seems like a rehash of the old nuclear bomb, which would cause an instant beige.

However, what do you mean by "one shot a nation" ? Does that mean that it automatically drops the infra in each city down to 10, destroys all improvements, and destroy all national wonders?

Navy AA guns was one idea Alex had & never implemented. (Should do it)

Also adding new anti air ground vehicles, which might be much weaker vs ground. Although allow ground forces to defend against air units & target them with ground attacks maybe. Maybe new project which allows each factory to produce 2 of these in addition to the tanks or something. Just brainstorming here...

Not a bad idea actually. Instead of making it a dedicated unit though, maybe group it with tanks? That way players will still be working with the same 500 tanks per factory, but will have to balance the number of AA guns and tanks they have.

As you said, they would be weak against ground, and would not be very effective to not make planes a non-factor in wars.

  10. Oh dear, I can already see all the posts accusing me of being butthurt about the last war.

Currently, all units (except one) are vulnerable to something else: ships can be destroyed by ships and planes and ground forces can be destroyed by ground forces and planes, but planes can only be destroyed by other planes, which seems a tad ridiculous.

I'm not saying that soldiers and ships become AA sharpshooters overnight, but is it possible to give AA capabilities to ground forces and ships? Granted, it would not be very effective (even IRL, the best defense against a horde of planes is your own horde of planes) but sending 100 planes against like 100 ships and only the ships taking damage is a bit ridiculous.

And before someone points out that ground forces can loot and ships can blockade but planes can't do anything, I'm fairly certain that planes are already the heavy hitting unit as is. They do far more damage than most other units.

No, that would just enable people to potentially make arbitrary amounts of money ingame by throwing an arbitrary amount of money at Alex. This already happens, but to make it legitimate? Pay-to-win is a BAD THING, and if that happens then I'm gone.

This. You would be better off petitioning Sheepy to raise the redemptive value of credits.

However Apeman, I'll bite. What would be the benefit to players for this? People who would struggle to pay the price for one credit are the ones who will rarely use credits. The people who would benefit the most would be the ones who either buy and sell credits, or those who donate for credits, I think.

    Am I wrong?

  12. It seems like a lot of extra work for very little payout. Sheepy would need to code an entirely new system for this to work. And to what end? There is no guarantee that alliances will invest. They'd prolly make a better return investing in new cities for their alliance, especially since cities can't be stolen.

I think the unfortunate part of it all being that only a tad above 450 billion dollars currently exists in pnw although, not counting resources I believe.

It's at $944.8 billion in damages now.

Also, you do say only $450 billion, but that is actually more than what existed before the war broke out. Fact of the matter is that there was probably more wealth locked up in resources than actual money (i.e. war chests, brokering), and the only thing that kept resource prices high on the market was market speculation. Furthermore, since IQ-sphere is more or less back up to some percentage of normal production, those resource stockpiles will keep going up.

In other words, Orbis will never return to those days where wars would clean out everyone's resource stockpiles. A definite winner would be visible by the time a scratch is made of the pile, and by that point the amount of resources being consumed will probably be at most equal to the rate of resource generation. Hell, if the market is any indication, there are people picking up cheap resources with the intent of dumping it on the market after the war is over, or when resources prices go back up (assuming they will).

Wait, isn't the whole idea of "shares" being that the shareholder owns a portion of the assets of the bank? And therefore they are the owners?

If someone's gone and taken stuff that someone else owns, that's called robbery. It is no-one's liberty to do that, not at all.

(War is different, there's no expectation nor trust necessary in direct competition. This is more akin to pactbreaking.)

Problem with this is on Orbis, there is not guarantee. There is no SEC or Federal Government to police these things, and why would he care if the value plummets? Shares on Orbis exist only on paper, so an investor trusts the bank operator that they won't screw the investor out of their hard-earned money. Short of contacting his alliance or attacking him directly, there is no mechanic for retribution.

  15. The current shareholders are kinda screwed. They either stay on until their shares are confiscated, or they try to sell and have their shares confiscated. Even if neither of these two come to pass, there will be fewer outsiders willing to buy shares, leaving Smpre as the only one who would wish to buy the shares. And given how mature he is in the above screenshots, I have no illusions on him offering them a fair price.

My advice? Approach his alliance and see if they are willing to put pressure on him. If not, find his nation and nuke it for every penny that he stole.

When have banks ever been trustworthy

Look up Stratton Oakmont. They had public sheets that showed how much money was in the bank, who money was loaned to, how much was left to pay off in each loan, records of every transaction, and more. All publicly available, you didn't even have to be a shareholder.

Psweet had decided to do this because he was fighting an uphill battle to make banks trustworthy on Orbis, and this would offer a level of transparency to clients and potential clients.

I feel kind of bad for him. Shitheads like the one who runs Azure would take his hard work and squander it because they are thin-skinned losers. Years of hardwork down the drain.
