  1. Here is my suggestion: Change from IC/OOC to In-game/out-of-game. This allows for a person to reference things which are natural forms of communication for the game. Any references to things outside of the game would then be warnable. This also clears the confusion of RP/non-RP related character discussion. As long as it revolves around game/gamplay it would be fine.
  2. I hate to mention another game, but Project Terra handled the IC/OOC line very easily by changing it to In Game/Out of Game. We debated the rules quite a bit. This allowed for people to say game/forums/irc because it had to do with the game, while leaving out the non-game references.
  3. This is going to be an introduction... and a rant. [wall of text] Hi, I'm Micheal Malone, leader of Malonia. For those who may not have heard of me, I have kind of a reputation for finding bugs and flaws in the system, reporting them, and "reminding people" that they need to be addressed. My exploits have taken me across many of the worlds, and my adventures have been grand. I'd like to think that I have a unique viewpoint. My adventures have spanned decades, probably longer than some of you have been alive. Does that mean that I think my opinion is better than others? No. I simply know what is broken, and attempt to be a force to change it. Now onward to the "rant" portion. Is the game itself broken? While I would say yes, it is still feasibly playable. The game speed right now and the changes that are being made are based on a broken economy. Whether anyone wants to admit it or not, the economy is hugely broken due to the influx of exploited cash and resources that people flooded the game with. Building mechanics and planning for longevity are tough in these conditions. Why? Because everyone, large alliance members (Hi Rika-chan!) and small alliance members like myself, are using this broken economy to our own national advantage and speeding up the game play for our nations. The development time is insanely fast for a nation currently. The second part of my rant... the community. There seems to be a prevalence of attitudes directed at any new players and alliances. There are a few large alliances that have grown comfortable sitting at the top and think that it's just fine. Mechanics continue to break and be skewed against small alliances and small nations, and the response of many in the community is "grow up your nation/alliance" then. Yes... being in a small alliance or a smaller nation will always have inherent risks, but those risks are based on player actions. Currently, being a small nation has to not only deal with the inherent risks of being a small nation in a small alliance (player-driven security), but they must ALSO deal with game mechanics that are shifting further and further away from them. And the members of the larger alliances refuse to admit it. It could be due to fear of losing control, blindness or naivety based on their conditions, downright disrespect. But what I've seen so far in this game is disheartening. When a mechanic is put in that's broken, instead of pushing to fix it the community as a whole appears to push to abuse it. This world has potential. This community, however, is severely lacking. Now, this is where responses come flaming me for 'not knowing anything' etc. Feel free to flame me & troll me, or... you could engage in a real discussion.
  4. Granted, but he writes a vampire romance novel. I wish more people offered random hugs.
