  1. I never heard of an army being blown up by its own minefield. Couldn't they use a bridge or something? This doesn't seem logical.
  2. This is interesting. Perhaps the bonus could accumulate with repeated successful espionage attempts. Players might be encouraged to "stalk" their target for days in order to maximize their advantage, but if an attempt failed, they would risk tipping off their prey.
  3. My concern would be that this would make the game less aggressive.
  4. Here's a crazier idea: transnational corporations that own some of your slots.
  5. What reasons are those? I think the approval system is a fine idea.
  6. >If you are referring to approval rating, alex had planned on attaching stuff to it. He was instantly berated by the player base for being dumb. It doesn't work at all & like this idea is not balancable. Why do you think it can't be balanced? Just because you don't like an idea doesn't automatically mean it's unworkable. (I'm referring to the approval rating, at the moment.)
  7. There is already a feature in the game measuring the population's level of contentment, but at the moment it's still cosmetic. At some point, it needs to become more meaningful, in my view. (Or else why is it part of the game?)
  8. Yes, that would need to be addressed. A restless population might be less productive or pay fewer taxes, for one thing. There has even been discussion of a mechanism for civil wars to happen, although this is going far afield.
  9. Why not allow nations to produce their own unique luxury goods for trade? Over time, populations would come to demand various products, putting pressure on you to acquire them. This could have a powerful influence over how satisfied or restless they are. Which goods your population learns to crave could be determined by a variety of factors. For example, your people might be more interested in products being produced by a nearby foreign power, or in goods made by countries with similar policies to your own. (Also, the popularity of your product could be related to your efforts to market the product.) Opinions, please.
  10. What are the limits of spy range?
  11. Good point. Thank you for explaining this (and thanks also to everybody who responded).
  12. I don't really see the logic in a player having a missile platform or nuclear weapons lab that can't be bombed.
  13. I'm against this, because P&W should be a dangerous war game in which no one is ever totally secure, not a safe space.
  14. For example, his capacity to build missiles and nukes?
  15. Ever play Master of Orion 2? Then you know where I'm going with this. What if this game featured special administrators and military leaders who could be hired to provide bonuses? They would demand payment, of course...
  16. You're just a wimp reacting violently to the notion that a war game should involve real danger. As for the "side topic," it's an inane, childish waste that ought to be removed. This is a forum for discussing ideas to improve the game, not for pinheads to play spin the bottle.
  17. If your city has 1200 infrastructure, you need three coal power plants (or one nuke reactor) if you want all of your improvements to work.
  18. I would appreciate it if we could discuss the topic, not engage in short bus arguments about how to spell 'Iraq.'
  19. I don't think this game is designed for realism. If it were, all kinds of things would be totally different.
  20. >he game would be full of mid tier location hoppers looking for little guys to pick on. No fair. Wouldn't location hopping be prohibitively expensive? If you have to spend credits to do it, it's hard to imagine those little guys having enough scratch to make it worthwhile.
  21. The consensus seems to be that this is the worst idea since pay toilets, but don't you think location should matter? I would be interested in seeing some other ideas for making that more relevent. I also don't understand what would be so terrible about weaker players getting jumped by stronger players (within a certain range), since players already more or less have to join alliances for protection.
  22. If some people want to have a new way to reduce pollution (whether or not it's really necessary), I can't see why it shouldn't be introduced into the game. People enjoy building and customizing cities their own way.
