  1. Well. considering how Americans (somehow) stopped SOPA and shit. (Although stopping ACTA would have prevented SOPA but no, gotta wait till it is almost to late to do anything )
  2. Yea, they had a revolutionary feature (at the time) of driving from space to ground and shit. There is a hour long multiplayer video of it somewhere on the internet Had they only been given another year...
  3. Does the PS2 still have servers up and running? Either way, Battlefront 2 was an amazing game. I remember the "Unofficial" patch and how you could use it in multiplayer for $#!%$ 'n giggles.
  4. That was the USA's position after WW1, that isolationism is the best course. The problem is isolationism will bring the biggest country to its knees, Imperial China was a hulking giant 500 years ago, when the Mings scraped the Zhonghe fleet and focused internally it stagnated, the Manchu continued this isolationism and then a freaking island nation kicked their asses! Also isolationism in no longer possible in the globalized world, whether for good or ill, America needs to keep messing in other nations affairs as it is better than the alternative.
  5. Heh, China's military is a joke, they have no power projection capabilities. England has better power projection for God's sake! America's main mission since WW2 was managing the logistical nightmare that is an overseas invasion. The largest air force in the world is the United States Air Force, the 2nd largest is the United States Navy. The US has more carriers than every other nation combined. America spends more on military then the largest 15 other nations combined. Both Russians and Chinese use outdated Soviet Tech as well, the F-22 will have a field day with their air force. Simply put, in the event of WW3 (Assuming it isn't a nuclear annihilation immediately) the "Shanghai Cooperation Organization" simply has no means to attack the US, but at the same time the US has no capabilities to make a successful invasion. NATO would have to be involved in order to successfully invade either China or Russia(again assuming they don't nuke Earth to kingdom come) Also it is a good thing France left NATO, they may induce panic amongst the troops XD Sidenote, the hell is Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan gonna do? Stand in front of the bullets?
  6. Sevastopol is quite important to Russia, even if controlled by a foreign nation, as it is still home to the Black Sea fleet. Russia is also becoming isolated on the international stage as more eastern bloc countries move closer to the west. Also, Russia isn't going to start a [world] war over this. If WW3 happened they hell would they do? Nuke humanity to oblivion? They have neither the military nor allies to win a war against NATO.
  7. We're called Humans, this isn't Star Trek. I actually disagree with this, we are a social species that evolved long ago through tribes and groups. Religion came into being in multiple areas and different groups of people and, whether or not all of them started from a single point or came about separate, the fact remains that all pre-modern societies had a high emphasis on a religion of some sort. It is second nature for people to want to belong to a group of some kind, it is why political propaganda reverts to a "Us or Them" mentality. I would say more but I have better things to do right now.
  8. Listen, I think "good" mods are a nonexistent entity. Everyone has a different standard for moderation and each mod enforces rules differently. I am sure that you do limited moderation on your AA's forums(as I did) and you probably were pretty laid back about it. But Laissez-faire moderation is only good for alliance forums, not the P&W forums. And as a mod, sometimes you have to censor something even if it is not listed as a rule (Seriously, who the hell posts an actual .torrent link?) If you don't like the moderation policies then you have a choice to not use the forums, simple as that.
  9. Sorry, I thought you meant something else by regions. Not necessarily, there is 2 (historical) reasons for national advancement/expansion 1. Economic 2. Military If we have a single state than we would lose one of (albeit the weaker one) the primary reasons for (space) exploration. And as it is now space is an economic wasteland, the cost:benefit makes it worthless to invest in. Unless a nation sees space as a real military (or financial) asset, exploration will likely not happen. So if exploration does happen we would likely see races between the most advanced and rich powers (as in the age of exploration) while other nations fall behind. It also wouldn't be like a video game or movie where an entire planet is owned by a single government or entity, especially habitable ones. It would be a scattering of settlements (although some could take up half a planet). And then centuries later the colonial planets may end up with their entire planet under their control and declare independence from their far off oppressors on earth. Or we'll blow ourselves up in a nuclear fireball a decade from now, either scenario is about as likely.
  10. Unless I am the supreme ruler I am going to have to go with state sovereignty. It is very difficult to transplant ones groups culture, ideals, and morals unto another groups. Look at the Balkans, despite being ruled by a (intermittent) succession of outside powers starting with the Romans and ending with the Ottomans (or Yugoslavia, depends on your definition of "outside power") for nearly it's entire existence, all it did was split it even more. Although one could argue that it was because of those powers that the region ended up the way it did, the only way that any sort of unity existed (again, Yugoslavia) was via oppression. In a single state one culture would ultimately end up being the "norm" while all other cultures would be "different" or "wrong" and even through oppression such a state would quickly collapse. In the modern age, authoritarianism and repression cannot last long, especially if only a few percent of the population fits the ideals of a nation. A single state would quickly revert to the age old way of achieving unity and stability, submit or perish. But nationalism and self-determination are new concepts. Only going as far back as the United States of America(FIRST!!!!111one) or the Peace of Westphalia, if you are so inclined. Maybe in 50 years religion will become a unifying factor again after half a millennia of decay and neglect. Perhaps a new unifying factor will emerge, who knows? Edit: I would hardly call the EU a "regional" power, a continent is a bit different from a region. A regional power would be more like a Central Asian Federation, or a United Arabia (Peninsula, Transjordan, and maybe southern Iraq)
  11. *19 Because 18 year olds can be a little insane, we need a level headed 19 year old at least *nominates self* But seriously though, Ukanjo wasn't a bad mod but because a few people are anarchists things went bad fast. Unfortunately a few bad apples spoils the bunch.
  12. The smaller (and more vocal) user base basically screamed "Anarchy!" then when Unkajo stopped them they said "Boo, my voice is being silenced!"
  13. Even in the debate sub-forum, rules must be enforced. If someone makes a blatantly discriminating statement (ex. "Hitler was right! Kill all the jews!") or insults another user(s) then they are not debating, they are trolling and trolls must be eliminated. Now I do think there is some moderation abuse, but at the same time I think there is not enough moderation. I personally believe that if a debate topic goes off course for no reason whatsoever, and it is clear that it isn't going to go back to the topic at hand, then it should be locked (Ie. the "Being Governor before President?" thread should have been locked after it became a discussion on welfare)
  14. Not gonna lie, Infinite was by far my favorite. It was nice simply due to the fact that it was bright and colorful as opposed to every new AAA the past year or two. Also I have never been a big fan of Horror in games. SCP - Containment Breach was !@#$ing scary and I only watched my friend play it!
  15. I am a fan of Grand Strategy and I am pretty much a Paradox Interactive fanboy. I play pretty much anything. I detest Tower Defence though, it is a horrible genre.
