It's apparently more like 60 percent in some cases. The card is limited to 8 pcie lanes, so while other cards can fully utilize a 3x16 slot, the 5500xt checks completely choked out with bandwidth. Not only is this a bad decision that makes no sense and doesn't affect any other card in the range, it wasn't communicated to reviewers. So, everyone's 9900k test bench is still stuck on pcie 3 and the card looks way worse than it is.

AMD would be the best component maker in the world if they'd start communicating and stop hobbling their products on launch day.

Nevermind, apparently the gains are only that dramatic in some cherry picked scenarios. The average is much closer to 10%, but the results are wildly inconsistent. The bigger issue seems to be the 4gb of VRAM getting flooded on occasion and transmitting over PCIE, then the hobbled bandwith hurts the card.

It's the downward spiral since they really don't know who Emplemon is.

I know about EmpLemon. He was promoting Gavin McInnes for a while. Don't know who Gavin McInnes is? He's the founder of the Proud Boys, a group behind several hate crimes in North America. In fact, one of their members, Brandon Vaughan, is from my neck of the woods and still on the run after missing his court date for his part in beating a Palestinian professor to a bloody pulp on camera.

    Isn't knowing things fun?

I see. So when Goons does it, then it's fine, but when anyone else does, then it's "bad faith". Goons fabricates meanings to words and reports pre-censored images, and has flooded the subforum with hundreds of bogus reports, yet one report is too many?

On top of that, you don't even address the hypocrisy inherent in your own tantruming about 'dog-whistles', preferring to give hatred and bigotry more of an audience and more legitimacy rather than take actual constructive steps to discourage it? And you declare that blind trust, in the face of indications to the contrary, is what Alex is fundamentally owed?

You are the problem. You are abusing the system, you are knowingly and intentionally spreading what you profess to hate.

There are solutions to this problem, but it is abundantly clear that neither you nor Goons nor apparently even the moderation staff are interested in constructive efforts, only hypocrisy.

You've already called yourself out as a bad faith actor, with your "holding up a mirror" admission. The best argument you can currently muster is that ignoring things makes them go away, which is absolutely not the case. Which is also supposed to give way to these mythical "constructive steps." Tell me, how do you solve a problem without addressing it?

Your also misconstruing my arguments in bad faith, which is no surprise. Nowhere do I say that we need to have blind faith in Alex. I simply point out the power structure involved in the ownership of these boards and fact that the system has been the same for years.

In fact, I implied that I don't have faith in Alex's moderation. I believe good moderation requires summary bans of obvious bad faith actors, but the only accounts on the forum that have been subject to that, to my knowledge, and Chinese bots. I think Alex is far to lenient, the warn point system is far to easy to game and obvious deliberate game violations never result in a summary ban unless the nation is inactive. Or a multi.

You seem to be fixated on the fact both you and GOONS are reporting things, but there is nothing similar out of the fact that they are reports. You've fall prey to linear thinking, evaluating to things to be the same because they share an element, even after you've constructed your scenario.

Also, repeating key words of my argument back to me doesn't make a counter argument. It's just a lazy, uninspired attempt at whataboutism.

    Y'know what? I agree.

I agree completely that, in light of Alex finally coming forward with actual information about where moderation strikes have fallen, he has been much more reasonable than it first appeared. I for one was misled by the number of times that he spoke in direct encouragement of the hundreds of spam Goons reports. Those were giving me a false impression that the cringe reports were being successful, and I'm glad to now be disabused of that. I was wrong, and I'm thankful to @Alex for both that and for his coming forward with genuine information that puts the matter to rest.

Furthermore, I agree completely with you in that the anti-moderation whining and bad faith troll reports have gotten much, much worse since Goons began making them and baiting them, and to be fair I'm indeed partly at fault for contributing to that as well. I lost my patience, and I apologize for that. Holding the mirror up to their bad behavior was the last way I thought I could explain Goons' hypocrisy, but that still doesn't excuse either myself or Goons.

As for dog-whistles, though? Tell me, are the controversial if not disgusting, and certainly arbitrary, meanings of those obscure codes actually less prevalent and less disseminated when you cause public drama over them than when they're simply ignored as the stupid white noise that they are? Or if necessary privately reported as harassment? Does the drama of a public call-out, both IC and OOC, actually give the code less of an audience? I'd be surprised if it were so.

You are literally the bad faith troll reporter I'm talking about. Some GOONS post are bad, but most of them are routine and obviously and easily solvable. You, on the other hand, have flooded the sub-forum with nonsense. You googled "salted meat slur" and used it as the basis of a report, the second time in a week someone I've seen someone try to make an argument out of their own lack of understanding about search functions. You scour GOONS for nitpicks, but you miss shit like guys naming their cities actual slurs. You didn't "hold up a mirror", you had a protracted tantrum that stemmed from your own failure to understand the moderation system, and your bleed over of in game grief.

Alex shouldn't have to keep coming back to this, because the fundamentals of the situation do not change. They were the same when I started playing four years ago, they are the same now.

You aren't owed a look behind the curtain. The moderation rules have been consistent for ages. Some mods have been better than others, but the fundamental system has remained the same.

I genuinely hope, for the good of the game, that in the next such whinging, mewling, idiotic thread, Alex simply tells you lot to shove it and play by the rules.

I mean the card will see further improvements is the coming drivers, but again, AMD needs to start delivering on launch day in the majority of scenarios. Those reviews are going to hang around like wet farts.

Could be worse. Most of the pre builts available in my area work out to charging 1650 super prices for the 1660. Because it's totally reasonable to take 1100 USD from someone and hand them back a system with 3 gigs of vram.

Yeah, there isn't anything else in that price range. The 5500xt is just a 580 with less power draw. The new theory is that the 580 will be discontinued and the 5500xt will price drop, but I think the reality is that AMD thought they could pull an Intel and charge more for the same performance because it's new. Big Navi better not follow the same trend.

Not at all. No Awards, never again.

Unironically this. The awards have always been a shitty brigading dumpster fire for years, the only thing that changes is which side of the trash heap your on. Tying the awards to in-game functions, even purely cosmetic, was just another avenue for whining and toxicity on these already terrible boards. Pretending that we can source an a single truth for these awards and have it mesh with even a plurality of peoples views is naive.

The horse isn't just dead, it's desiccated at this point. We can stop beating it now.

ah yes, because alex will certainly change the rules of the game and forums because of a poll made by a person so mad about their bigot friend getting banned for being a bigot that they spam the reports forum with frivolous reports, clawing for any desperate means of pathetic revenge, who made said poll because their frivolous reports kept rightly getting smacked down.

Alex is not an idiot so im not sure why you'd expect this to be the case.

You say that, but Alex did get rid of downvotes primarily because of his whining.

Benchmarks for 5500 xt are out. No real improvement over 580/590 or 1650 super. 8gb version is a horrible value.

To steal a joke from youtube comments

    >Don't worry amd bros, r9 290+++++++++++++++++ got this

Yeah people are being pretty savage on it, and supposedly there is a 5600xt coming out? Even with the eventual improvements AMD cards get from driver maturity, they're crowding the product space just as bad or worse than Nvidia. It's getting called the 5500 Super by some. Trash tier price to performance.

The theory is that this is a paper launch with most of the 5500 boards going to much better value OEM cards, but this is AMDs first big screw up in a while. It's going to dampen the enthusiasm for Big Navi whenever it comes out, and I was getting pumped for the 6969xt or whatever it'll end up being.

  12. The result of the new voltage curve, 190mhz over the previous driver, the card now throttles down to a level higher than my previous sustained, the internal handling of thermals is now much better, as the card slows down instead of stopping and the fan is 200 rpm slower.

All of this has translated into about 10% average FPS gains in 4k benchmarks and titles.
