 0700 hours - 1/29/17 - Stockholm, Sweden.
Akaatan and Coalition forces take up positions in the suburbs of Jakobsberg, Rotebro, and Enebyberg, while Hungadadan and German forces take up positions in Flemmingsberg, Vidja, Vega, Botkyra, Slagsta, and Tullinge.

All allied forces have begun digging trenches outside of the city in preparation for the battle to liberate Stockholm. Akaatan fighters have begun dropping leaflets over the city in the hopes of getting as many civilians out as possible. So far, around 600,000 civilians have been safely evacuated, leaving around 100,000 civilians left inside. Between the city and Allied forces, the land is akin to that of No Man's Land during the Great War.

1600 hours - 1/29/17 - Stockholm, Sweden
Preliminary shelling of the city begins in the hopes of neutralizing enemy positions. Reinforcements from Akaatan North America arrive numbering around 50,000.
General James Thornton of the Coalition army orders the bombardment of rebel positions within Stockholm. Rebel casualties unknown, estimated to be around 900. Civilian casualties also unknown, assumed to be close to 3000.

0500 hours - 1/30/17 - Stockholm, Sweden
The order to advance is given. Akaatan, Hungadadan, German, and coalition forces cross the No Man's Land and into Sweden.
16,000 troops killed or otherwise incapacitated in crossing No Man's Land alone. The Battle for Stockholm, and might I add the very soul of Sweden, begins.

German Offensive, Southern Front

Commander Kosakowski of the Sixth Army.

Deutsche Sechste Armee reports heavy tanks and infantry pushing allied forces back. German Infantry can not hold the northern sector. I repeat German Infantry can no longer hold ob........ Sechste Armee Division, this is Sechste Armee Brigace Delta. We have held a line to your north east. You must hold your position, sending Tanks to support you. Delta, this is Foxtrot sending additional forces to support Division. Roger, all units this is command. Hold fast, close air support inbound.

Joint Chiefs of Staff

The German Royal Ground Forces and allied soldiers have liberated the Swedish Capital of Gothenberg. Hours before, victory by the German Second Army was proclaimed as German Forces took the last Speratists stronghold in Denmark. Similarly, Akaatan Forces liberated Oslo and the Norway Province. However, civilian casualties are running high amongst allied campaigns, especially in Norway. The German Joint Chiefs call for the rebels to cease their use of human shields and allow all civilians to leave conflict zones.

As our spokesmen said earlier "It is without a doubt, German soldiers attempt to save as many lives as possible. However, separatists attacks on aid convoys, fleeing civilians as well as attacking German soldiers from civilian homes, buildings and facilities. We must remain strong in face of our adversary and in liberating our ally Sweden. However, the German Military will discuss without allies on methods and ways to stop the high rate of civilian deaths. We call upon our allies to also take measures to limit civilian deaths."

On the battlefield

German Tanks started a counter-attack devasting foot soldiers of the separatists. The German Air Force pounded separatist soldiers outside the city where German Naval Vessels blockade the coastal city. However, the German RoE has prohibited striking the city or the Hyperloop. The German Government is attempting to maintain the infrastructure of the Swedish Confederation. Already 40 Million Deutsche Kronens have been spent on rebuilding Copenhagen and German Military Police arrived in German Occupied Swedish Denmark. The German Government has promised to overturn the city to the Swedish Government when a stable and legitimate government is re-instated.

Akaatan and coalition forces, having faced heavy resistance in the outskirts, have entered the Bromsten suburb, as well as the Igelbäcken forest.  Casualties are unknown, presumed to be around 5,000 Coalition and Akaatan troops dead and many more injured. Rebel casualties are unknown at this time, as are civilian deaths. Forces engaged in the Igelbäcken forest are currently locked in a stalemate, and casualties are unknown. ww-view-flanders.jpg

Akaatan and coalition forces in Bromsten are making considerable gains, and are making their way towards the Bromma Stockholm airport in the hopes of providing allied aircraft a base in the city, as well as cutting off further supplies to the rebels. Coalition patrol boats have been deployed on Lake Malar, and Akaatan fighters have been preforming repeated airstrikes of rebel forces, leading to the situation above. The fighting continues, with no end in sight.

MEMO, Stockholm to Port Royalty:

<START> "Hungadadian forces, all 53,000 soldiers, air force squadrons, ground artillery, and naval units are now securing the west of Stockholm and have successfully sieged it. Casualties are heavy at 900 killed, and 820 injured, and we expect heavy casualties as we prepare to defeat the heavily armed rebels. 40,000 civilians have been evacuated ASAP, intelligence suspects civilians being used as shields. AWAIT FURTHER UPDATE <STOP>

--

In the early morning of the day before, the IHAF dropped leaflets over West Stockholm urging any and all civilians to evacuate, and reach one of the dozens of rescue points outside the city. Almost 40,000 civilians reached the rescue points, however intelligence from inside the city suggests that the rebels have prevented any further civilians from leaving, constituting a war crime. Stockholm remains surrounded by coalition forces, and remains heavily fortified by the rebel forces. Akaatan ground artillery shelled northern rebel positions, in a bid to weaken fortifications, while the IHAF will wait a little longer before it begins its own bombing campaign of Western rebel positions.

On the ground however, the 2nd Force Corps were dug in, and awaiting orders from Command. The chilly August wind was setting in. Small skirmishes with rebel forces had begun, and a large skirmish had just taken place.

0700 hours, the next day --

"Command, this is 2nd Force, we are set and defensive. Ground artillery in place. Requesting permission to begin prelim. shelling and bombing of rebel positions. Also requesting permission for rebel counter assault."

"Roger, you have permission for 3 X 15 bombing air. You are NOT cleared for ground artillery. Cleared for counter op. "

"Force 2, understood"

IHAF squadron bombers moved to takeoff, and begin their bombing run of west targets. It would be a daunting task. The bombs would be guided to their targets, but their pilots had to be precise so as not to hit any civilians. The infrastructure of Stockholm, and to a greater extent, Sweden had to be maintained, so that the costs could be dealt with more easily by the next legitimate government. Hungadadian technicians had remotely locked and powered down the Hyperloop system, to prevent the use of the tunnels by rebels.

0730 hours --

The first formation of bombers appeared on the horizon as they sped toward Stockholm. They flew silently, but they carried explosives capable of great destruction. They flew past the soldiers who had been dug in, and soon enough, the first explosion was heard. Then another, and another. Bright flashes lit up West Stockholm early in the morning. A second formation of bombers appeared a couple of moments later and performed their bombing run. Air raid sirens had gone off in Stockholm, and the rebels had begun firing their AA guns.

0735 hours--

Around 10 tanks popped over the coalition fortifications, and headed in formation, over towards the outside of the city, where they began firing at more rudimentary rebel positions. Soldiers who were walking behind the thanks could see rebel soldiers fleeing away, deeper into the city. More tanks appeared and they too, began firing at rebel positions. Around 40 tanks were now present on no-man's land, and they were headed, at a relatively high speed, straight for Stockholm. A number of soldiers, taking cover behind the tanks, were too headed for the city.

1600 hours --

Hungadadian and coalition forces have entered West Stockholm thanks to sustained bombing, artillery, and tank fire which has forced the rebels to retreat inward, deeper into Stockholm. More civilians have been rescued, with many retelling the shocking state in which they were forced to live. The fighting, while intense, has reached stalemate as rebel soldiers struggle to hold onto their positions. However, at this point in time, the rebels have dug themselves in and have not moved back. Coalition forces aim to secure Bromma Stockholm Airport, to provide air support and cut off supplies to rebels, however, from the west side at least, both sides are at a stalemate.

2000 hours ---

Coalition forces have made significant breakthroughs after yet more intense bombing and artillery, with rebel casualties estimated near 1000 - 1200. However, the civilian casualties cost has too, been high, estimated at around 5000 to 6000. Most parts of the Nockebyhov area and the Södra Ängby area are now firmly in the control of coalition forces, with some rebel influences only the eastern most fringes of both areas. Coalition forces aim to take Judarskogen Nature Preserve by tomorrow, and keep pushing toward the airport.

Emperor of the Imperial Republic of Hungadada

1600 hours --

The German Sixth Army smashes the Rebels Eastern Flank and captures the town of Tyresö. Stabilizing the front, the German Army also clears their portion of the city. Civilians who have already left Stockholm number 230,000 from the German sector.

2000 hours ---

The German forces watch from their positions as bright explosions and never ending gunfire are heard to their west. The Hungadada and Coalition forces attempt their push into the city. As the Germans rest and restock, their naval vessels can be seen moving into a blockade. With no escape, the Separatists will now fight to the death.

German Joint Chiefs released an official causality report

Swedish Authorities say 228,970 civilian have been killed during the German Liberation of Denmark

Currently, the German Military reports 582 civilian deaths in their sector. Whilst 300,000+ have been evacuated and rescued.

German Soldiers listen on their radio as allied chatter reveals the dire fight to take out the die hard rebels.

Soldier's note
"When I signed up to fight for the coalition in Sweden, I thought it would be a quick war. Little did I know... On the first day of the Battle of Stavanger, I saw the true face of war... For while the news only focuses on the victories in war, I saw our first true defeat. Sure, it wasn't a defeat in the sense of us being repulsed or anything, but it was a defeat to our hearts... our souls. Every night, I am reminded of the battle, of seeing friends I grew up with die before me. Then... we reached Oslo. So many lives lost... So many I could have saved, but it was too late. Some nights, I wonder that if we had made it earlier, we would have saved them. Now, Oslo stands as a ruin, it's buildings in ruins, and it's people shattered. I had asked to remain there to help those who survived, but alas, I wound up here, in Stockholm. On the first day of the battle of Stockholm, we crossed what some of my fellow soldiers have been calling 'No Man's Land'. So many lives lost simply crossing, many more wounded still. At one point, I saw a squad stop in the middle of No Man's Land, all save their sergeant. He was ready to fall and quick to defend, but he was shot outright by his own men. Of course, I couldn't stay too long, and so we continued onward. Now, we face our greatest challenge- taking Stockholm it's self."

He was killed after having freed fifteen hostages in the Royal Palace before getting two of his fellow soldiers who had been injured to safety. He was killed by a rebel soldier armed with a flamethrower. For his actions, he has been posthumously awarded the Cross of Glory, the highest Akaatan military honor achievable. He will be granted a state funeral in which the Emperor himself has stated that he will attend. We mourn the loss of a true hero of the Coalition, as you mourn the loss of a son." -General James Thornton
