Nalydian Icelandic and North Sea Territory

 

A cruiser of the 37th Patrol Fleet, the VRZ Windswept Plains, has reported detecting a trade ship entering Nalydian territory during its completion of the the North Sea leg of the Great Northern Trade Route recently established by the Federation of Sweden and Alexiamia, Rokkenjima, and the Republic of Exodus. Following protocol, the cruiser subsequently fires upon the offending trade vessel: a single long range shell is fired, and is detected making contact with the trade ship. The trade ship, shoddily cobbled together by Orbisian natives, proves to be too flimsy for the ordnance used and the shell over-penetrates and is detected slamming into the seabed not terribly far from where it made contact with the surface vessel. Even with this unfortunate miscalculation, the merchant begins to burn and take on a heavy list. It is last seen drifting towards the northern coast of England with the blue-green Atlantic having claimed its aft decks.

 

The effectiveness of heavy kinetics against lightly armoured merchant vessels is duly noted. Pordish vessels captains are instructed to use only incendiary shells or missiles against these soft targets in the future. The rarity of encountering vessels of... Such quality is such that the initial results were somewhat surprising. This, however, is not enough to deter the Pords. Overall, Nalydian policy has not changed. The current state of affairs will continue until the nations involved within the Great Northern Trade Route are able to rehash the boundaries and connection points of the trade routes. Until this happens, vessels will continue to be targeted and potentially sunk within the previously declared "no sail zone" without warning.  To reiterate this point, a short general service announcement is broadcast across the globe stating that vessels sailing with the 200km exclusive economic zone of the Nalydian Iceland and North Sea Territory, bar those within the territorial waters of Greenland or England, will be sunk.
