  1. Aguacentian Broadcast Network Welcome to the Aguacentian Broadcast Network! The ABN is the premier broadcast organization for the Republic of Aguacenta. The ABN is a state owned media consortium. Its headquarters in downtown Ciudad Nueva, just south of the Capitol Building and other important government sites. We have affiliate branches in many of the Republics major cities, including the industrial port city of Siero. Since before the revolution, The ABN has prided itself on providing unbiased news about social, political, and economic developments within the Republic. The ABN broadcasts across multiple media. We host a variety of radio, television, and internet broadcasts. Current Aguacentian Broadcast Network programs include the following: ABN Headline Edition: The flagship of the ABN, Headline Edition is the premier news broadcast on the nation’s premier broadcast network. Víctor Ojeda, the voice of Republic, reports on current events from all corners of Agaucenta. Topics covered include the day’s government business, economic news, reports on social and cultural events, sports, and weather. Headline Edition reports events as they unfold without bias or a political agenda. ABN Politics in Press: The ABN’s link to the government. Politics in Press is the mouthpiece for the political establishment. Today’s political leaders use Politics in Press to disseminate information about government programs, spin current events, and campaign for election. Recurring guests include the President of the Republic, Cabinet Ministers, members of the National Assembly, clerics sitting on the Council of Elders, and party leaders. Politics in Press has a pro-establishment slant and is often used to advocate for specific political agendas. ABN Spirit of the Republic: The ABN’s purveyor of Aguacentian cultural and political history. Noted documentarian Professor Javier Trujillo spreads knowledge about past events to the nation and the world. Topics range from information on early settlements in Aguacenta to culture reports on the social institutions. The Spirit of the Repbulic primarily broadcasts history, but covers some current events. Broadcasts tend to be upbeat and fairly nationalistic, but are generally non-partisan. ABN Variety Hour: The ABN’s only program dedicated purely to entertainment. Variety hour is home to a vast array of fun programming. Game shows, interviews with icons of Aguacentian popular culture, and comedy programming are all abundant during Variety Hour. Gustavo Blanco and Camila Gutiérrez will be your hosts through a maze of wonder and whimsy. In addition to authorized official broadcasts, pirate radio and television transmissions are often found co-opting the ABN’s frequency bands. These broadcasts are typically made under the auspices of Radio Free Aguacenta. The RFA is often the voice of populist dissent in Aguacenta. Current Radio Free Aguacenta programs include the following: RFA Rebel Radio: RFA’s Rebel Radio is Aguacenta’s voice of political dissent. Anti-Theocratic dissidents broadcast messages in an attempt to undermine the political establishment. Renaldo the Rebel hosts news programming and social commentary that is critical of the ABN, the Church, and the government. Rebel Radio has a strong anti-establishment slant and tends to be both anarchistic and vitriolic. RFA International: RFA’s attempt to penetrate Aguacenta’s heavily regulated airwaves with information from external sources. RFA International broadcasts news about current events outside of the Republic in an effort to provide unbiased and uncensored information to Aguacentian citizens. A variety of international volunteer reporters read news from around the globe. Coverage, content, and bias varies based on the international source.

Form of Government: Republica de Aguacenta is a Theocratic Democratic Republic. It is a majoritarian multi-party democracy, with few protections for social minorities. Politics&War Wikia Link: http://politicsandwar.wikia.com/wiki/Republica_de_Aguacenta (It's a work in progress) (Leave blank if you don't have one) Describe your Nation IC'ly: Aguacenta is a developing democracy. It recently emerged from a brutal war that decimated a large portion of the nation. After successfully ousting its colonial masters the nation gained political independence. It recently established a new constitution and held its first democratic elections. The economy of Aguacenta is heavily reliant on mineral extraction and trade. Aguacenta faces many of the social, political, and economic problems that confront all new democracies. Aguacentians come from a highly religious background. The Church of Heilo (loosely based on the Anglican Church) dominates social and political culture in Aguacenta. Whie Aguacenta is a democratic nation, its democratic institutions are somewhat flawed. Only male property owners may vote. Democratic political institutions in Aguacenta are intertwined with the Church. Church leaders exercise veto power over not only legislation but also election results. Aguacentians trace their roots to early settlers from Iberia. The first wave of settlers created small coastal villages which eventually developed into fishing, farming, and trading communities. Later immigrants from Central-Western Europe also came to the land that is now occupied by Republica de Aguacenta and helped bolster these communities. As coastal communities developed, they sought political independence from their former colonial powers. Today, Aguacentians are heavily mired in traditional social culture. Their roots on the continent are also still strongly felt. The majority of Aguacentians speak Spanish, however there is a large German speaking minority. Clashes between these communities often lead to social turmoil in the nation, however in recent times the Church has mitigated many of the social tensions between the groups. Describe yourself in OOC terms: I'm pretty laid back. I RP when I have free time. I think the problems associated with political and social development are interesting so I RP a lot about that. Have you read, and do you agree to abide with, the Rules? (Yes/No): Yes. Where on the map do you want to be located? Iceland Map here: Flag here: (Using real-world geography/nations, or a self-provided map): (Map-wise, you're limited to a maximum of 50 provinces. If you go higher than that, I'll personally adjust it down until it's at 50, or ask you to re-do your own example until it fits within the 50 province limit.)
