  1. So you mean to say the person must continue to get notifications via email because he can't delete his nation?

They can turn off their notifications and just don't bother logging in. Nation can then go inactive. Especially if they are the attacker, they should not be able to delete, it encourages 'hit and delete' tactics against nations.

Vacaction Mode is a tricker one. There are valid reasons why someone might want to go into VM. But way too many nations are using it as a 'Peace Mode' and hiding out. Personally I think that should be policed by the alliances themselves (for example, kicking out members that go into Vacation Mode during war, without a RL reason).

  2. Just get rid of half your tanks and ships and 1/3 of your soldiers and 1/6 of your planes, that's how we're dropping into range lol

That sounds like too much work :P They should build more troops and get back into my range ;)

even with no wc i refused to drop into vm. How dare they

    Exactly! Ruins the fun ;)
  3. Can confirm: guardian is raiding whomever hey like

We would raid whoever we liked, but so many opposing nations are too far below our declare range, we have pretty much no targets. Either that, or they've run scared into vacation mode.

  4. Or just finally include stockpile limits :v

There was a hard limit on resources that a nation could hold, we had Sheepy increase it because the game didn't deal with you hitting the limit at all.

Seriously, sitting at 999,999 food and you buy 10,000 food. Which then goes nowhere, as you're at the limit and the other nation still gets your money. That is how badly resource limits are implemented currently.

  5. You should've stayed at 14 :P

Yeah but then I couldn't earn a small fortune outside of war :P I don't play the market, too many bots and people with too much time on their hands. So I rely on passive income mostly.
  6. Smashy smashy, burn burn ^^

It's an honour to finally fight on the same side as you, best of luck! (still waiting for our ranges to meet up for that rumble though ;) )

Any time you want to build about 5 more cities, for sure ;)

  7. How's that work for university students?

If I can get my sister to sign up we'd be on separate networks most of the time, when I'm at uni, but I stay with my family during winter, spring and summer breaks.

    Could she join my alliance?

Yes she could join your alliance, no issues there. The restrictions only apply to trade and war (see previous posts).

The only way around the previously mentioned restrictions is if you never visit politicsandwar.com while you are home and on the wifi network there (which I assume is what your sister would be using). Use a mobile phone instead, that isn't connected to the wifi network.

  8. The mistake you likely made was that your son was logged into the same wireless network as you were (as you were both at home). This would still come under the heading of "same network", even though you're not using the same computer.

I know of at least one father and son team who happily play on the same network, despite the trade restrictions. It's not the end of the world and finding a nice alliance to support you both will help make the game alot more enjoyable.

EDIT: I see you're in Cornerstone, good choice :)

If you wish to message me ingame (my nation link should be on the left), I can help you out with answering any further questions about the game.

  9. Have a few that do the same. I like my editable version better, though, let's me understand how much money I'd be making (resources included, excluded in other versions) if I modified the setup. The API version I haven't bothered to make modifiable.

This one is editable, I just prefill using the API ;)

i agree it is really good - but where i do most of my developing google drive is blocked unfortunately

Fair enough, security and all I'm guessing :) I do a fair amount of my tinkering at home, so the only sites blocked are the ones I've set!

  10. Interesting. I'll have to have a look, this kinda thing interests me :)

and to answer it before it is asked - i am not taking this to google drive

Damn, I don't actually have a copy of Excel installed. I've got an old disc around somewhere for 2010, I think.

EDIT: On an aside, the Google Drive scripting is actually pretty damn powerful, I have a spreadsheet there setup, that works out a nation's income, using the API.

  11. Was trying to move my nation into Rose so that I could easily deposit some stuff into their bank for the bank bug. Accidentally moved every nation, instead of just mine.

Thank you for the laugh :) As a web developer myself, I know how easily it can be to screw up an SQL query.

I am curious though how your database is setup, that you would need to run an SQL query to "move" a nation to an alliance, as opposed to just simply directly editing your existing nation record (a much safer way). I do the latter sometimes for work, in order to move my user from one account to another.

EDIT: You may also want to think about creating a script to "deposit" money into or "withdraw" money from an alliance bank and lock it to your user account, within the code. Stick a simple UI on it, where you can select the alliance, the amount of money and whether to deposit or withdraw, and you can stay out of the database entirely. There's a bunch of other stuff for work that I do on a regular basis, that have scripts setup with a basic UI, quite simply so I don't have to !@#$ about with the database. Especially in the cases where a dozen or two values are being changed across half a dozen tables.

  12. That's still terrible unless your goal is forcing the big, active players to quit. I frequent have up to four going at a time in the same resource due to quantity limits on offers.

If you keep the same price, the game just adds to the existing trade. So in the above case, it would still count as a single trade, you just submitted it 3 or 4 times, to stack the trade.
  13. Could we please limit the number of trades that people can have for one resource, at any one time? No one should need more than 1-2 buy or sell orders, per resource.

It might also make the market a bit friendlier to players who don't spend all day on the market and lessen the chance that we end up with a market that's completely run by at most a dozen nations.

    EDIT: Rephrased for clarity

  14. I wasn't after a discussion of project suggestions, there's a thread for that ;)

I've talked a few times about nerfing projects overall but adding project upgrades. This would give more life to the current projects we have without having to constantly come up with new ones. It would also put another resource sink into the game which I feel like we need considering resource prices have been trending downwards for over a year now. You could even go further and add different upgrade pathways but that's probably getting a little complex.

Overall means that the scaling will slow down the chance of someone buying all the projects and all the upgrades whilst also making things a little more interesting in terms of project choice between players. This obviously needs more detail (I haven't done resources) but gives a glimpse at what I would like to see. I will expand further if Alex shows any interest.

It's a nice idea, and I don't disagree with the sentiment. But the issue I have is that nations with 8 or 9 project slots or more will start running around with empty project slots, which just makes the project system inefficient. And it's not that hard to reach 40,000 infra. You have a similar situation with improvements, but it's alot harder to get to 3000+ infrastructure in each city.

Maybe the entire project system needs a rebuild, so it's not based around total infrastructure and project slots. I don't know. But it's that kind of discussion I was trying to start.

  15. I already mentioned that I would be making this information available via the API soon, in which case you won't need to parse anything out of that table.

Any update on this? I've personally been waiting around for it to be available via the API, before I did anything more. Not sure on any of the players, who use the API.
